So, I'm rocking an i5-4440@3.10 GHz paired with 16GB of RAM, running on an Asrock H81M-HDS motherboard.
Is a GTX1650 pretty much the ceiling for what I can grab for around $400?
Like, should I go with the paliti GTX1650 StormX, 4GB GDDR5 or maybe the KFA2 GeForce GTX 1650 ex plus, 4GB GDDR6?
Since that KFA2 one comes with DDR6, does that actually make it a better bet?

Here's a table showing some 3D Mark results if you want to see for yourself:

Though, honestly, if gaming is actually the goal, you’re better off grabbing an i3-10100F and putting whatever leftover cash you have toward a decent used GPU. This whole i5 plus GT 1030 setup? You're paying almost as much for the CPU as you would for a Ryzen, and since the dedicated card isn't even faster, it ends up being... well, just a terrible value proposition. Lowest price-to-performance ratio I've seen in a while.

I'm not really looking to game, so the graphics card isn't my main concern, but I still don't want to buy total junk.🙂
What matters to me is multitasking. I'll have AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook all running at once, plus a mountain of tabs open in my browser and a bunch of PDFs...
I usually swap out my PC every five or six years, so I just want to squeeze every bit of juice out of this budget tier before I hit $1833...

It’s got that Zen 2 architecture plus integrated graphics that’ll absolutely smoke a GeForce GT 710. Just make sure you go with dual-channel RAM at higher speeds—like 2x8GB at 3000MHz or 3200MHz; those CL15 and CL16 sticks aren't exactly pricey these days. Pair it with a B450 or B550 motherboard and you're golden.
A cheaper route would be an i3-10100F for $217 and just stick with that GT 710 you've got.

Here's my current thought process:

Asrock H410M-HVS
i5-10400F 2.90GHz
2x Kingston HyperX Fury 8GB 2666MHz
Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 2GB
Or am I missing something better for this kind of cash??

Maybe a beefier processor with decent integrated graphics would actually be cheaper than this whole i5+GT1030 combo? If so, I could probably put that extra money toward faster RAM.
P.S. It's been like 7 years since I last bought a PC. I haven't really kept up with how much the motherboard and CPU markets have shifted lately...

wiredotter14 said:Neither of those options works. They aren't even a decent value, let alone having integrated graphics. You running a dedicated GPU?

My current card is a GeForce GT 710 with 1 GB.
What else can I get for that kind of cash? Are integrated graphics on modern CPUs actually any better than some entry-level cards like that 710?

Which one of these two CPUs is better for just everyday stuff on a build with a 500GB SSD and 16GB of RAM? I'm not even touching games.
Ryzen is technically faster, but I’ve always had this thing about Intel, and the price is pretty much neck and neck...

I reached out to him, but there's no warranty involved. Now I'm stuck wondering how to actually verify if the card is even functional without running into issues—he's down in Miami and I'm all the way over in Indianapolis. 🤷

Ugh, no thanks. I'm looking for peace and quiet here. 🙂
I stumbled upon this 7850. It doesn't come with a warranty, but the guy selling it said I could swing by and check it out in person to see how it actually runs. What’s the move? 🤷

We already posted the link 🙂

Sold. 😵
Maybe 7790??

crimsonstag84 said:It just hit me... those P55 and P67 boards didn't actually support integrated graphics. It was only the H55, H57, H67, and Z68 chipsets that handled the onboard video for all the s.1156 chips and Sandy Bridge stuff. So yeah, technically the CPU has graphics built-in, but you can't actually use them 😬

Exactly. I know my motherboard doesn't even have a video output, which is why I said I wasn't interested.
Anyway, I just need some kind of GPU. Doesn't have to be new—I'm looking to spend maybe $90 max...

electricharbor30 said:Just save your cash... honestly, whatever you get by trying to integrati R7 on an i3 setup is basically going to perform about the same as a dedicated card you could grab for that same price range anyway... or just look for a used one with some kind of warranty... I mean, you aren't gonna find anything decent brand new for less than a couple hundred bucks...$233...

My i3 doesn't even have integrated graphics😢
So what should I pick up for $233??
GPU Buying Guide - (Read first post) in Desktops ·
My Gigabyte Radeon 6850 is basically on its deathbed.
I need an upgrade—specifically looking for something I can probably pick up at Best Buy (or maybe some other shop in Indianapolis) for around $167.
Every now and then I’ll hop on an older FPS or play a bit of Diablo 3 on low settings, but that’s about the extent of it.
Current setup is an i3 paired with an Asrock P55 Extreme4 and 4GB of RAM.
From what I can tell, my options are pretty much limited to something like an R7 240 OC or a GeForce GT 730.

Andrew Rivera17 said:Honestly, BetMGM is easily the absolute worst sportsbook out there. I spent two years over at Bet365—I mostly stick to tennis and playing the handicaps—but the options here are just pathetic. Yesterday I actually hit a $200 on DraftKings, withdrew it, and the cash should be in my account by tomorrow without any of those typical headaches. But when you factor in all the fees from Skrill, Neteller, or whatever other service you're stuck using, you end up losing like 10 to 20 percent of your winnings just to get your own money back.

DraftKings has a pretty weak selection and their processing is slow.

Andrew Rivera17 said:Just thought I’d chime in. Honestly, dealing with FanDuel is such a headache; I wasn't about to waste $6 in fees every single time I wanted to move my money. As for other books, I can’t recommend where I’m at right now enough—DraftKings. No weird tax issues or middleman nonsense, just a tiny little commission on the deposit (maybe 2%) and you can pull your winnings straight to your debit card within 24 hours without any drama.

Everything is subjective, really. Eventually, you’re going to realize that DraftKings only carries about 20% of what you'd actually find over at FanDuel.
If you’re actually serious about online betting, you need a PayPal account, a FanDuel account, maybe BetMGM, and definitely BetOnline. Then there are the Asian books—Betway, BetRivers, 188bet—plus those Russian sites you use until they inevitably limit your action: Bet365, BetMGM, DraftKings...
And don't bother with Betway anymore; they aren't even accepting Americans...

jadesailor said:Generalizing is how you screw everything up.😉
Every single day I see cases where people get better odds even after taking a hit from the house, and they aren't even playing$1.75 big shots or high rollers.
Here’s a real-world example: if you bet on Berdych and Nadal at Bet365 today, you might turn 500 bucks into 975, whereas some local US sportsbook would give you 1021.
Is the guy who gets more money the idiot here?

This is a rare case, but generally speaking, betting at our local US sportsbooks is just a losing game compared to using international sites.
And don't even get me started on when you actually try to deposit more than $167—they just spin their wheels and eventually reject the transaction...
Also, sorry about my "idiot" comment earlier, but I still think you have to be incredibly naive to take betting seriously at these domestic books...

Bryan Adams6 said:So, I finally decided to give DraftKings a spin...
So, I went ahead and loaded my account using PayPal on Saturday around 4:30 PM, and then I put in a request to have the winnings sent right back to my PayPal. Just waiting on it now.
So, about four hours ago—around 8:30 PM—I get this email popping up in my inbox asking me to verify my identity. Just a standard request, I guess. So, I went ahead and sent over a scan of my driver's license. Typical stuff.
So, just a heads-up for everyone waiting on their cash—tomorrow, Sunday, around 11:05 AM, the payouts should hit your PayPal accounts.
Less than 24 hours until that first payout hits. 👍
The offers are alright—nothing mind-blowing, but they get the job done. They’ve got a sign-up bonus available, though it doesn't actually apply here in the States. 🙈

I gave it a spin myself. The selection and how they lay everything out is actually pretty solid. Sometimes they’re a little slow to adjust the margins, but honestly, I don't mind that much. No issues with account limits so far, either. All in all, it’s not a bad setup.

Bryan Adams6 said:plus with PayPal you can just hit up an ATM for some cash 😁 and stop worrying about Chase, Wells Fargo, or Bank of America...

Right, totally slipped my mind. With a PayPal card, you can basically shop wherever you want, buy whatever you feel like. You just gotta make sure there's actually money in there first.🙂

Does the government take a cut when you withdraw winnings?

No tax.
You just pull your money via PayPal or send it straight to your bank account...

Kyle Torres60 said:to even get an account set up at any of those betting sites—you know, like DraftKings or Bwin or whatever—you basically have to upload a photo of an Italian ID before you can make your first deposit.
I don't actually have one myself, but a buddy of mine called a friend, who then opened an account and just sent the money to me and himself.😁
The game is on April 10th. I’ll try to grab a screenshot once it wraps up, just so nobody accuses me of making stuff up.
By the way, they bumped the odds to 2.05. I took the 2 @13 and the X @6.5; I'm not trying to build toward a single win here.

Man, I wish I could too. *sniff*😢

Alexander Parker97 said:So, how do I 'get' access to international sites? 🤣
Is it actually worth opening an account with a foreign sportsbook? I read somewhere that because of the tax laws here in the States, the odds over there end up being lower anyway, so it all evens out to nothing. Or am I just talking nonsense?

I’m guessing you’re just trolling??
Honestly, you’d have to be a complete idiot to keep betting with local domestic books when you could just have an account with one of the big international ones...

Kyle Torres60 said:if anyone happens to have an account on the Italian version of DraftKings (strictly Italy only)
you'll see messed up odds for that Irish Premier League match, unnamed
they're listing:
1.20 6.50 13.0
when they really should be:
3.25 3.25 2.15 (looking at Asian handicaps)
why just the Italian site? because over there, the law says if the odds are wrong, they can't just void them—they actually have to pay out.😁
P.S. if you try this on the .com site, expect a total meltdown and a closed account. Just don't say I didn't warn you.😉

Interesting intel.
Though, I doubt anyone here actually has an Italian account, but man, wouldn't that be something.
A couple days ago, I caught one of those offshore sites and a big European bookie swapping the odds on a NASCAR race—like, turning a 1.20 into a 6.00 for a single matchup. I jumped on it immediately, and the next day they just refunded my money once they realized they screwed up. Total crooks.
