Honestly, I’m not sure if it’s just me, but based on everything I’ve seen online—and looking at the photos you posted—combined with my own experience from over twenty years ago, my money is on Pityriasis rosea.
About twenty years ago, I went through this exact same rash that spread all over my body. Honestly, it looked pretty gnarly at the time. My doctor prescribed some kind of medicated cream, and I also started using this herbal salve a cousin had given me. To top it all off, I actually went to a tanning salon two or three times. Yeah, you read that right—a tanning bed. ☕ I actually managed to get a referral for a dermatologist, but before I could even make it to the appointment, everything just cleared up on its own... probably took about four or five weeks.
It’s like it never even happened!
So, here we go again. After twenty years of nothing, I’ve suddenly started noticing these red spots over the last week or two. I’ve counted seven of them so far, ranging from tiny little dots about half a centimeter to some that are closer to an inch wide.
I’m honestly a little nervous that this rash is going to spread. I can't help but think back to last time, when everything just seemed to explode all at once in a matter of days. Fingers crossed it doesn't go down that same path.
I mean, I don't know... there might be another way to look at this. Honestly, I'm probably overthinking it—I'm definitely not the brightest bulb in the box. 🤔🤔
Melissa Cooper58 said:Hey everyone. So, I came down with Pityriasis Rosea a few days ago. It all started exactly a month back when I had surgery to remove my tonsils—my immune system took a hit right after, and here we are. First sign was this loud, hacking dry cough that lasted a week, then this red patch showed up on my stomach. About five days ago, the rash actually started spreading. It’s all over my abdomen, my back, and the backs of my thighs now. The itching? Absolutely unbearable. I haven't slept in five days. I'm losing my mind; if this keeps up for another week, I'll be checking myself into a psychiatric ward. To make matters worse, my first doctor—a specialist dermatologist—had no clue what was happening and prescribed Econazole, which just made everything worse. I ended up Googling the symptoms myself, eventually finding a second dermatologist today who confirmed it is indeed Rosea. I see people on these forums saying you shouldn't even bathe, but my doctor told me the exact opposite! She actually suggested I head to the coast and get about thirty minutes of sun exposure daily, claiming UV rays are great for Rosea. Currently, I'm using a corticosteroid topical from the pharmacy, Telfast tablets, and Eucerin shower oil. The plan is to shower daily in lukewarm water with the oil and then apply the steroid. A friend also mentioned that sun and olive oil helped her clear it up in three weeks. I just hope I can endure this. Tonsil surgery followed by this... all within one month. It's madness.
Well, my experience tells me the exact same thing. Though, full disclosure—I was getting my tan at a tanning salon.
