It seems nobody with any actual authority has bothered to address my requests or concerns. Honestly, all this talk about deleting posts and censorship is secondary. I wasn't trying to cause a scene—as one user so helpfully pointed out when they accused me of being dramatic and demanded proof—nor am I here to complain about it. My decision to leave the Forum has been in the works for a while now... this was just the final straw. What’s the point of even typing anything if a moderator who takes personal offense can just wipe it away?

Anyway, that’s that. As far as I'm concerned, you can keep arguing, but I couldn't care less. You won't be reading anything from me here, or anywhere else on this site, I promise.

Unfortunately, most people don't see it that way—I see it in conversations outside this Forum too. There isn't much we can do at this point... I suppose we're just asking for another situation like this to emerge from China in a few years, only for history to repeat itself.
Over the last few months, I've been following the threads on this. The crowd that's against everything mostly just lashes out at the leadership and the restrictions, which is fine, but the reason this whole mess even exists is because of China. Usually, these discussions just turn into a clash between two groups: the panic-mongers and those who think the whole thing is being blown out of proportion. This tug-of-war has been dragging on for four months now. Hardly anyone actually points the finger at the true culprit or looks at how this entire case started.

There aren't any trolls here; all the threads are open. The only issue is that this guy was trying to lecture me on why I shouldn't "overreact."
My overreacting is nothing compared to the actual scale of this.
So, I'm officially logging off for good.

Karen Smith19 said:I honestly just don't get people who go around demanding that their profiles be deleted, because if you aren't planning on being part of this community anymore, why not just set an incredibly long, complex password, scribble it down on a scrap of paper, and then simply toss the paper in the trash when you change it?

Consider yourself deactivated 😁

Look, Master... I don't even need you or some official document to tell me how this works. You just type the password into Notepad or whatever text editor you've got open, but without actually hitting save. Just a quick copy-paste of the credentials first...

@stormytiger4
I actually wrote a post about this earlier and ended up deleting it, but fine... I’ll go ahead and repeat myself just to clarify exactly who you think you are compared to someone like me—just an ordinary guy on this forum...
Whatever you say... I'll just sit here and act like I'm "not being dramatic" according to your standards...

Alright, I’m wrapping things up here. This is the final word on the only thread I’ve ever started in my nearly four years on this Forum... and likely the end of my "career" around here, too...
I’m not exactly holding my breath for this request to be granted. But, if I can offer one bit of friendly advice to whoever is in charge of this... maybe look into getting a more reliable, stable server. Just trying to log in right now, and I’ve already been kicked out twice—once with an error saying the site was unavailable, and the second time acting like I hadn't even attempted to sign in... It’s frustrating. I’ve had moments before where I’d finish writing a decent-sized post, hit save, only to have an error pop up and wipe the whole thing out. All that work, gone. I know there are existing threads about this...
They can want all they want, but I’m practically done with this Forum... and honestly, I just don't care anymore.

Look, my only goal was to make sure posts don't get wiped just because I call people out the way they don't like... I wasn't looking for a crusade.
It’s not even about me or whether I choose to post or not at this point. A ton of people have already walked away before me, fed up with the censorship happening here on this site—the bans, the warnings, the constant deleting. Even the deleting itself is just brutal. Like one user pointed out in the thread below mine, you pour your time and energy into writing something, only for someone to blink and delete it without a second thought. It’s honestly sad that there isn't a real American alternative to this place.

It isn't just about walking away from the conversation... it's that I have no interest in having my profile associated with a Forum that
effectively backs a bioterrorist state like China—a regime responsible, directly or otherwise, for the destruction of millions of lives
across the globe—nor an organization that aids them by scrubbing posts
that simply call them out by their real names. If people want to call this drama, fine. Let them.

I’ve never been one to start a new thread outside of the banned users corner, but I’m making an exception today.
Since my posts regarding the criminal regime in China and
their mercenary, criminal organization currently masquerading as the WHO
have been repeatedly deleted, I honestly don't see the point in participating in a forum that practices such blatant censorship.
Therefore, I am requesting the deactivation of my user profile.
Davor Butković in Close to Politics ·
I’ve run into the rumor quite a few times now—that the guy writing as Ivan Violić for Telegram is actually just a pseudonym for Davor Butković. Honestly, I have no clue how much truth there is to that... But when it comes to the Blue Velvet website, I’m certain he’s the one behind it. The writing over there is just dripping with his specific brand of snobbery.
This whole policy just highlighted how ridiculous it is to have a million tiny little municipalities. You’ve got people living in these small towns—basically just a cluster of houses with a church and a single convenience store—who can't even drive to the nearest actual hub. They need to get to the town center for a Target, a CVS, an ATM, or a clinic... places they actually rely on. But now? They can't move an inch without some local official demanding a permit. And those officials will just say "no" because their boss told them to watch the quotas. It's pure insanity...

This will be my last post. Look, I’m not questioning anyone’s credentials here, but let's be real: everyone has a price. Eventually, the truth might actually surface regarding who really orchestrated this whole mess... and all the things happening behind the scenes while everyone is distracted by the virus. It’ll be interesting to see how things unfold once the hysteria dies down. ☕ I'm going into isolation from this forum for a while.😁

neonpuma30 said:If the mortality rate is several times higher than the flu, how can the flu be considered more severe or dangerous?🤔 You have a case counter right there on the news site, so you can easily pull exact figures and compare them. And why on earth would you think you know more than the experts at WHO?

But look, that’s not what we’re discussing here. The issue is that you can go ahead and voice your opinion—which, in my view, isn't even based on science since it lacks any numerical foundation—but I can't express mine without facing repercussions. Why shouldn't we both have that same right?

First off, I agree that this topic belongs in the Health section, not politics.
News outlets 😁 Present their opinions as if they were scientific facts. I never doubted they’d do something like this just to stir up panic for clicks. For your information, the last time I actually opened an article from that site was back in 2016... unless you count 2018, when I caught a glimpse of their hypocrisy during the World Cup. I don't read them, nor do I read any other American tabloid sites. I've written plenty about them over in the Other Media subforum. This whole situation is perfect for them because it drives engagement and gets people clicking on their articles.
I never claimed to know more than the experts at WHO, but I do possess a bit of sound logic, unclouded by various sensationalist news outlets and tabloids. You've never heard of doctors being bought out by Big Pharma, have you? I'll clarify immediately that I don't know who is orchestrating this hysteria, so I'm not making bold claims that it's all pharmaceutical companies. I rely on data from different sources, not some tracker provided by a clickbait site. Even the last time I checked their page, they had a tracker for a completely different topic... clearly, those counters are just a constant fixture for them.☕

I’m actually going to side with the moderator on this one. It’s not just comparable to the flu—it’s arguably more aggressive and dangerous, even if we have to admit this virus spreads at a much higher velocity. As for the WHO... well, let's be honest, there isn't an opinion on this planet that money can't buy. At the end of the day, they're just people with their own flaws. The global hysteria brewing right now is happening for a reason, and it's serving specific interests. I won't go out on a limb and guess exactly what those interests are. Even as someone who usually stays far away from conspiracy theorists, I can't help but feel something is off here. If you apply a little logic and refuse to get swept up in the panic, the patterns start to emerge...
We definitely aren't all playing on the same team here. On one side, you have those poised to profit from the entire situation, and on the other, you have everyone else—the people they've been trying to keep paralyzed with fear and panic for three months now.
Question/Inquiry in Feedback & Suggestions ·
They aren't going to delete your account or your handle. Just log out and move on... A few months back, I was just as heated about certain moderation calls. I actually demanded they wipe my profile, even throwing around threats of lawsuits and posting similar nonsense in the ban threads—stuff they just scrubbed without a second thought. Eventually, I cooled off. For a while, I didn't even visit the site unless I stayed logged out. Now, when I do drop by, I stay anonymous. I finally logged back in after two months, but I don't engage in the debates, nor do I feel any urge to reply to anyone. All that's left here is your username; you haven't shared any sensitive info like an SSN or anything else. As long as you weren't oversharing personal details like some of those naive users (I was always careful), there's nothing to worry about. You just walk away, and that's that.
Raymond Walker5 said:I know someone who called 911 for his 90-year-old mother once, and when he told them her age, they basically told him to call a funeral home instead of an ambulance. Not exactly classy on their part, but...

It’s beyond "not classy." It's downright horrific, unprofessional, and completely inhumane. And this comes from a country that loves to brag about how compassionate its people are compared to everyone else—which is just a total facade. Unfortunately, I’ve had my own run-ins with emergency services and the healthcare system while looking after elderly family members. If someone had brushed me off like that... I don't even want to think about how things would have ended. And I'm not exactly the type to lose my cool easily.
I just stumbled upon an article online—saw the link mentioned in another thread—basically calling anyone who chooses not to head to the coast for vacation a total loser. It’s such petty, small-minded nonsense from people who actually call themselves journalists... specifically looking at you, BuzzFeed. It’s not even the constant praise for the summer tourism season that gets under my skin. It’s this forced narrative that everyone *has* to hit the beach, acting like if you aren't interested, you're some kind of social outcast or somehow inferior.
We honestly need to boycott the American media all summer long. We need an annual break from the garbage they churn out.
Nicholas Nguyen said:You're mistaken. This January was actually the coldest we've seen in nearly fifty years.

The media lives for the clickbait. They thrive on sensationalism, constantly inflating numbers just to drive engagement. Every year, it’s the same tired routine: they hype up record-breaking tourism stats like it's some kind of miracle, when really, it's just another way to manufacture noise.

That's still more normal than some of those winters from years ago that were just way too warm.
As for the tourism records, they keep shoving them down our throats because they don't know how to write about anything else. I get the impression they have a handful of pre-written articles ready for the whole year and they just cycle through them...
all you have to do is come up with a more sensational headline and swap out the year in the text.
Donna James5 said:That isn't quite the issue; rather, the sheer volume of clicks drives the constant coverage of extreme weather. In this landscape, nothing is allowed to be ordinary. Everything must be sensationalized—the biggest, the smallest, the "never before seen"—simply because that is what triggers engagement and keeps people clicking.
It is quite pathetic.
Forbes is particularly distasteful in this regard, though I suppose many other outlets aren't much better...

Exactly. I remember those mindless, sensationalist headlines from the first month regarding that "extreme" cold snap, which was actually perfectly normal for that time of year.
Today, I read an article claiming we were seeing temperatures above 90 degrees when it was barely even warm. 😁 I honestly wonder if there's an intelligence test for American media outlets, because it seems like they hire whoever has the lowest IQ possible.
