Dealing with Klebsiella pneumoniae in Women's Health ·
Man, I’ve been fighting this Klebsiella battle for like six months now. 😢

So, back in January, my husband and I decided we wanted to start trying for a baby. But first, I figured I should get checked out, so I went in for four specific swabs. Since my OBGYN is amazing, she ran everything: aerobic, anaerobic, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Ureaplasma, HPV, even TORCH.

All the tests came back fine except for the bacterial ones (aerobic and anaerobic)—I had Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterococcus faecalis. That’s where the nightmare started. Based on the sensitivity report, they put me on Augmentin for 7 days. When I retested, the Klebsiella was still there in huge amounts, and even though the report still said it was sensitive to Augmentin, it clearly didn't work. So, my doctor switched me to Cephalexin (also per the report) for 7 days. After a break, I did another swab, and finally, the Klebsiella was gone, but instead I had: Enterococcus, Streptococcus, and Candida albicans. I guess I caught yeast from those heavy antibiotics, but I have no clue where the other stuff came from.

Since I also have a cyst on my left ovary that'll probably need surgery, my doctor sent me to a specialist at the hospital. He prescribed Augmentin again, but for 14 days this time. After finishing that and waiting four weeks, I tested again, and—surprise, surprise—it was Streptococcus and more Klebsiella in massive amounts. 😢

This thing is seriously stubborn. Like, if the report says it's sensitive to Augmentin, why isn't it dying after all these meds?? Just so you know, my husband took a 7-day course of Augmentin before mine, and then he finished another 14-day course too. We haven't had sex since his last round started, so I know for a fact he didn't pass it back to me.

After all that, the specialist decided I needed injections. He ordered Gentamicin for 8 days, twice a day at 120 mg. He said it's necessary because Klebsiella can be dangerous.

I just finished the treatment and did a follow-up swab last week. Now I'm just sitting here waiting for the results. Fingers crossed this beast is finally dead. 😠

A user on here, lizianthus , suggested I try some probiotic yogurt from Marine.lab. I've been drinking it for three months now. A few coworkers said it helped them with E. coli, so maybe it'll work for me too.

Also, I'd definitely suggest using condoms until you're totally cleared. You don't want to catch him, and then he catches it right back from you—that whole "ping-pong" effect is the worst. He might already be carrying it. I actually talked my man into getting a urethral swab, so we're just waiting on those results. Maybe your guy should get tested too, even though a lot of men are pretty sketched out by that kind of thing.

Good luck!

It’s pretty questionable whether this well-known guy actually has the training or experience for gynecological exams, let alone the right gear—like, does he even have a sterile speculum?
There's zero reason to get checked out by some random hack when you could just see an actual doctor. We aren't living in some developing nation. Just get your tests done, bring the paperwork, do a full interview, and call it a day. It isn't even about the exam being intimate; it's mostly about your own safety, which means seeing a pro in a legit medical setting.

I gave him everything—swabs, my full medical history from my OBGYN, the US Army ultrasound results, even a photo. I agree, that should be enough.

And he doesn't have any equipment, at least from what I saw. He sees people in an office that's just a desk, some bookshelves, and a couch—maybe he uses the couch for 🤷
exams.

That’s exactly how I feel—just totally lost 🤷

But if I actually go back to him to finish my treatment, I'm definitely not stripping. I'll just stick to showing him the test results or whatever.

Unless someone can convince me that female patients are constantly getting naked at his office, that it's totally standard procedure, and there isn't some hidden camera tucked away somewhere 😬

Honestly, I’m just as confused—like, why would he even want to look at me?
I really don't want to trash him for no reason, since the guy has been running this honey business forever and tons of people swear by his stuff... If I had some kind of rash on my arm or back and needed cream, sure, I wouldn't feel weird about showing him my back or whatever. But asking for a 'gynecological' checkup? That's way too intimate. He’s not a doctor, and he doesn't even have a clinic setup for that sort of thing (he just sees people in his office).

The whole thing felt extra awkward because people actually recommended him for being helpful, which made his request feel even weirder.

Anyone else ever dealt with something like this?

Something seriously weird happened. A few days ago I was out in Aurora visiting Smith (he’s a honey producer), and I brought him all my lab results. Basically, I've been dealing with these stubborn bacteria—Klebsiella pneumoniae and Staphylococcus aureus (from a cervical swab)—for months now. My OBGYN already put me through three rounds of antibiotics, but nothing works. The bacteria just won't budge.

A friend of mine who has her own gynecological issues suggested I hit up Smith for some honey and advice. Apparently, he's helped a ton of people, including her. So I go in, explain the whole situation, hand over my labs, and then he asks me to get undressed so he can "take a look." 😕

I was totally caught off guard. I didn't expect that at all. Since it was my first time seeing him, I wasn't sure if this was his usual thing? I asked him why he needed to do that since I already gave him the paperwork, but he claimed he wanted to check my mucosal lining. He said he could tell a lot just by looking, and that it would help him decide which vaginal cream to recommend. But I wasn't having it. I told him my lining looks perfectly fine because the bacteria isn't even causing symptoms, and that I already have a doctor—I just wanted some antibacterial honey. In the end, he just gave me some honey and a tincture.

Later, I asked my friend if he asked her to strip down, and she said nope.

I'm wondering if anyone else has tried treating gyno issues with him. Since he's pretty well-known, is it normal for him to ask you to get naked for an "exam" or what?

Since the honey actually worked for my friend (she hadn't had a period for months and it came back after using it), I'm planning on sticking with his stuff for a while. I mean, it probably won't hurt, but now I'm feeling kind of awkward because I have no idea what to expect next time I go back. 🤷

You can find Acidophilus at any pharmacy, but honestly, you're better off checking out Marina.lab directly—they're the ones making it. Just Google them.

My guy ended up getting the exact same antibiotic I did (since he absolutely refused to go get a swab tested), so now we’re stuck wondering if he’s actually cleared or not. Since my infection just won't budge, I finally talked him into getting a swab done, probably sometime next week. It’s really the only way to know for sure if the bacteria is still there and get an actual sensitivity report to see which antibiotic actually works.

Brandon Fowler4 said:She actually said my guy doesn't need treatment so he won't carry it around. Honestly... I'm already over it. She rushes through the exam in like five seconds, barely explains anything, prescribes zero actual meds, and don't even get me started on the follow-up appointments...

As far as that goes, I'd say just find a new OBGYN. Seems like she isn't exactly being responsible here.
From what I know—and based on what my doctor told me when I caught a bacterial infection—he needs to be treated too, otherwise you're just gonna keep passing it back and forth like a game of ping-pong.

I dealt with that bacteria recently. Just knocked out a course of Augmentin and I was good to go, no biggie. 😉 It’s not even that dangerous—at least that's what my OB-GYN told me.
Personally, I'm struggling with this Klebsiella situation that just won't budge, no matter what antibiotics I take.

So, following some advice from Brandon Fowler4, I'm going to start drinking Acidophilus yogurt. Maybe give it a shot? Supposedly helps with all those urogenital infections.

Period and Menstrual Cycle Talk in Women's Health ·
Usually runs about 27-32 days, and the actual period lasts 4. I don't really get PMS, more like just straight-up MS because I'm not even moody or anything beforehand—maybe I just crave sugar more? But once my period actually hits, it absolutely destroys me for the first two days (I definitely need Voltaren)...

So my friend spent two years trying to get pregnant with zero luck. Then she finally started tracking her fertile window and realized she was actually ovulating right when she was on her period. I guess they had sex during her period and—boom—she’s pregnant. 🙂
