Carl Mitchell45 said:First off, the media blew this way out of proportion. A few slap on the wrist and they were gone. This whole situation with the goalie shouldn't have happened, like I mentioned before... but let's be honest, nobody is going to hold our players accountable, especially not some bottom-tier trash like Gjolo.

I suppose the heroism of John Doe is just a light flirtation compared to how much the Head Office has screwed us over these last ten years. You sort of just get used to the sting, I guess.

Jose Vaughn3 said:Well, forget about that for now. I didn't even realize you were from San Francisco. I was heading off to high school back in '87, so maybe we crossed paths if you aren't much younger than me?

edit: in that case, just check out Colpo grosso over on Steven Grant55's page 🤣
I'd suggest it, assuming you aren't much older than I am. If there's anything else you want to dig into, just hit me up privately—that way we can avoid any trolling, as you put it.😁

fair enough 🙂

a fan, sure, but maybe not quite a supporter. 🙂

Jonathan Smith12 said:The article mentions they played in San Francisco; I recall how much of a big deal those floodlights were back then. It was the first night game...
Back in those days, because of the CIA, Omiš got a new stadium while Trogir got their arena.

ps, at least 80% of San Francisco was backing the Kansas City Chiefs back then.

Here is what things looked like around '87-'88. We were still in elementary school. I can't quite remember if it was Tuesday or Wednesday, but someone would bring in photos of the North Side fans, and we'd have them developed over at Foto Stojan. About fifty of us would just hang out, drinking and obsessing over the same few shots. Even as kids, plenty of us were already heading down to Miami for the games. Nobody really gave San Francisco much credit compared to Šibenka. There was just one guy rooting for Real Madrid and a couple of cigans who had jumped ship during the war. So, I guess you can try to calculate the percentages based on that sample size. 🙂

Jose Vaughn3 said:Look, it might not be worth an argument, but you really have to distinguish between a true supporter and someone who just happens to like the team.

In that case, maybe the ratio was 20-20. People, naturally, 🙂

Respect. 👍

We weren't built for courtrooms or moral high grounds; we were born for the streets. The boys are back in town.😉

🤣

What kind of movie are you living in? 🙄

steeltrucker said:It’s honestly ridiculous. People—including everyone on this forum—show up to the games, travel all over for away matches, and act like they’re part of the inner circle, yet they don't feel they have the slightest right to voice an ounce of criticism toward any of the fifty people I just mentioned. It’s a joke, really.
The rival fans were out on the waterfront, while we spent our time making our way through Washington, D.C. We handled ourselves with honor and dignity, I suppose, even if there were moments where we probably would have preferred to just dig our heels in and take each other out.

I guess you're asking why I would bother. Honestly, I don't have much of an answer for that. Maybe it’s just habit, or maybe I’m just looking for something to occupy the time. It’s hard to say. Right now. I guess I stumbled upon something that’s going to strike a nerve with one particular guy from Washington, D.C. 🤷

Jesse Campbell said:Word on the street is that Shuck is getting increasingly arrogant toward Zack, and honestly, it’s becoming a massive headache for everyone involved. Boeing is trying to play peacemaker, but I guess we’ll see how long that actually lasts.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit. Shuck is just foolish enough to think he can go toe-to-toe with Mamić. He even went as far as claiming that Stimac’s resignation was his own brainchild.
Maybe things need to get a little more heated.

Who are you even trying to convince, Frank? You're talking to some guy who was basically hand-picked by that old smoker from the previous administration to sit right where he is—you know, our resident entertainer who's always ready for a laugh. 🤣

analogheron19 says:
did any actual fans even bother showing up to support players like Mamica, Stimac, or Vrbanovic?🤷--- are you seriously suggesting that the people who died fighting for this country during the war were actually sacrificing their lives for Tudjman, Mesic, or Djodan?
is it really shameful that two or three die-hard fans went to help out the national team? I’d say the real shame lies with everyone else who stayed home and just surrendered in that fight against those pests, especially since we probably could have crushed them if there had been twenty or thirty of us.
there is a massive difference between two guys yelling "USSF idiots—you ruined footballb> at a stadium versus ten times that amount. Is a victory even within reach if we only make up one percent of the crowd, rather than fifty?

that’s basically it: take the tickets from the USSF and then go tell them exactly what you think of them.

boldotter473 said:To be honest, I’ve been boycotting the national team for ages—somewhere around 2002 or 2003. I can't even remember exactly which mess was the final straw, or which specific promises they made just to screw us over later. Sure, I felt some hope during that match against Estonia because, maybe, I was actually optimistic for once. But after that disaster? I don't see myself ever stepping foot in an American stadium to watch them play again anytime soon.
As for the other guy, he claims he doesn't care whether he's watching certain factions celebrate a win or watching "hillbillies" who lack any sense of class consciousness... blah blah blah, global masters, orchestrated wars, everyone is the same, let's divide ourselves... it's just the usual rambling from someone who clearly doesn't understand who's really pulling the strings or who's still dreaming about reuniting Yugoslavia.

Are you playing dumb, boldotter473, or are you just genuinely dim?

Robert Nelson43 said:Let’s be honest here—you didn't skip out because you weren't interested in the match; you skipped because you couldn't stomach hearing people cheering for the opposition. It’s a shame, really. You could have actually seen the Eagles play live, but I suppose you'd much rather stay home and play the critic from the sidelines.

It’s honestly a bit much to witness everyone celebrating Dan Marino these days. I find it difficult to stomach. Then again, I suppose it could have been even worse if we had been forced to sit through some celebration over in Bobot or Banja Luka yesterday. Not that I'd want to be anywhere near that.

Robert Nelson43 said:It’s honestly pretty grim watching everyone celebrate Dan Marino like he’s some kind of hero today. I suppose I shouldn't complain too much, though. At least we weren't stuck being forced to sit through those celebrations over in Bobot or Banja Luka yesterday.

It’s honestly exhausting watching those small-time opportunists hanging around the town square. If they could find a way to hike the sales tax to fifty percent tomorrow or sell out their own families for a quick buck, they wouldn't hesitate for a second. I swear, my stomach turns just looking at them. But whatever—Janica, Ivica, the national team... let's go. To hell with all those cowboys.

steeltrucker said:So, you’re actually trying to claim that 450 people from the NFL Ultras have just lost their minds?
And where exactly are you turning down tickets? I mean, did someone actually offer you one and you said no, or are we just making things up now? What kind of logic is that?

"Lost their minds" is probably too polite an expression. They basically stripped down and showed everyone exactly what they're made of, so call it whatever you want.😉
steeltrucker said:No, the real option is grabbing a beer at a local pub, living that independent spirit, you know?
The group holds a stance decided by the people who actually matter; everything else is just noise. That's how it works.

Yeah, sure. If you didn't show up to the game, you're a traitor or some radical separatist, just because the leadership decided that's how it was going to be. 🤣 So why the hell did those 450 people boycott the match in Switzerland, you absolute moron?

Gary Green32 said:I'd like the people advocating for this boycott to answer one thing for me:

What would a boycott actually achieve? How many fewer people would actually be at the national team games?

Personally, I think a boycott isn't the solution. But then again, the administration would probably collapse under its own weight if they actually tried to attend a game. If you catch my drift.😉
