I'm looking for some new ideas to keep my toddler engaged without just handing them an iPad. This article mentions a bunch of stuff like musical instruments and balance games that seem cool. Does anyone have specific recommendations for toys that actually help with motor skills?
I picked up a Xerox Phaser for $167, and the starter toner got me through about 700-800 pages. Then I grabbed a compatible toner $100 (which does over 1500 pages)
I'm already on my third off-brand one now and it works like a charm 🙂

EDIT
I’ve tried both private sessions and using my insurance, and honestly, I didn't notice much difference. Even though people act like private therapy is somehow higher quality, it just didn't feel that way to me. They all felt equally useless... I just never really "clicked" with that style of therapy.
When I first sat down with my doctor, I practically collapsed into the chair—you know, one of those fancy office chairs—and she immediately started lecturing me on how to sit properly. Total nerd move. I almost got up and walked out right then and there. Then she starts handing me these "life change" tips that made zero sense to me. We eventually reached some sort of middle ground, and she actually helped pull me through my mess, even though there were plenty of times I wanted to tell her where to shove it.

"Relatively" is the keyword there. My dose was tapered super slowly—all the way down to half a 0.25mg pill once a week, and honestly? I barely even noticed. I actually forgot to take it sometimes. But yeah, getting off it took me two whole years. Oh, and one time they were out of Xanax at my clinic, so they gave me Helex instead. It did absolutely nothing for me, even though they claim it's the exact same thing.
My daughter is only 8 years old, and according to her pediatrician, she’s already hitting precocious puberty. I was totally blindsided, but then my neighbor mentioned that in her second-grade class over at the local elementary school, there are already four girls who have started their periods. It’s absolutely wild. What on earth is happening with human biology lately?
I’ve been dealing with this skin issue that only flares up in the winter, and it's been going on for 15 years now.
I've seen a bunch of doctors, and every single one has their own little theory, but nobody actually helps.
Finally, I went private, got an injection of Flosteron, and for two years, everything was perfect.
Then it comes back, I head over to the Napa Valley clinic, and suddenly I'm buried under twenty different referrals.😵
You'd think they'd just ask, "Hey, why don't we just give you the Flosteron shot?" But nope, apparently that's off-limits. So instead, I spend months jumping through hoops—blood work, tape tests, being photographed—you name it. Then they spot excess red blood cells in my urine and send me to a urologist and a nephrologist, who then just send me right back for the exact same tests because the results are "outdated." What am I supposed to do? I have to wait for every single appointment.
In the end, my dermatologist basically tells me I just have to live with it and says, "See ya in a month" once I get more tests done by other specialists. A month? Give me a break. By the time I finish those tests, it'll be at least two months.
Of course, every doctor finds some new "problem" to obsess over. Nobody cares about making me feel good or just fixing the itchy rash! Instead, I’ve had 15 blood draws, 20 urine samples, two X-rays, induced diarrhea, having birthmarks removed... I can't even remember everything anymore. I definitely won't forget the gastroscopy, and now they want me to undergo that lovely procedure where they shove a lighted camera up my urethra, plus a rectoscopy.
I was perfectly healthy before I saw a doctor, but after all these pills and creams, my health is actually failing me.
Why am I even writing this? Why didn't I just go private for the Flosteron from the start? Why?
Now a new problem has popped up, and I've already gotten three different opinions. It's just going to be more repeating tests, and while they're busy "solving" that, something else will flare up. I was absolutely healthy for 40 years until I went to a doctor for a rash.
I am losing my mind here. I'm frustrated, and I refuse to believe there isn't a single decent diagnostician left in this entire country!
