Nicholas Perez33 said:Some trivia we should look into: he used to record things on a dictaphone 🤣

I don't think so. I have a few tapes and concert recordings made with his dictaphone that sound more like Pink Floyd compared to ENT. Then again, maybe if he did, he was recording from the balcony at the club...

Jesse Sanchez60 said:I don't know what the current situation is, but I assume Dead Moon broke up because the drummer's drinking got out of hand...

Look, I know. Andrew was absolutely wasted last time we saw him at the club, just completely trashed... They almost fell apart back in the late nineties when Andrew was using every drug under the sun. Then he "cleaned up," so they kept playing... but yeah... clearly, he hasn't quite mastered it yet...
Noah Ross4 said:That’s definitely not true. If you have a ticket, you can walk right in whenever you want. I’ve never heard of anyone holding a ticket being turned away from the NYSE.

Yeah... maybe I didn't phrase that quite right. What I meant was that my experiences with the security there have been all over the map—from totally fine to completely idiotic. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if what I said in my last post actually happened...

Supposedly they knock one back before every show

Forget the opening act. I'm just waiting for these guys to finally get on stage so we can actually get through two hours of music... 🙏
James Anderson10 said:Look, I don't exactly have the look of a gorilla...👍

I know what you look like. I was thinking more along the lines of a silverback gorilla... 🙂 My girlfriend told me last night I should just buy a ticket so I can get into the club after signing in. Honestly, my first and only thought was that there’s no way they’re letting me through the door at one in the morning. I’m not about to push my luck just to get kicked out by security... especially since it seems like getting trampled underfoot has become the standard greeting lately. 🙏
darksurfer24 said:So you should have just bought a ticket for the Demode show before the factory tour, then come find us after the concert... 😁

I’m no prophet, but I think if you roll up to a security guard looking like a gorilla at one in the morning with a ticket for a club that's packed with NPR fans, the only thing he’s going to offer you is a verbal beating or a chance to get trampled right outside the venue...

I dug this up:

"The setlist was almost entirely new material, aside from one Dead Moon song called "Over the Edge" (which dropped on a 7" back in '91). The tracks had that classic Cole touch—raw, stripped down, and featuring those infectious choruses that stick in your head all the way home. Sound familiar? Get ready, because the next twenty years are going to be just as intense..."

By the way, the drummer is a total punk legend. He’s played with Resist, Defiance, and Masskontroll, and now he's with Severed Head of State. His old man was actually playing with Fred Cola back in the seventies.🙏

So what, they’re gonna pitch it as some "tribute to Dead Moon"🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣

2006 was a pretty grim year for anyone who lives and breathes rock, mostly because the best band on the planet, Dead Moon, broke up.

The mourning didn't last long, though, since Fred Cola and Toddy teamed up to start a new group.

Calling all rockers—The Pierced Arrows.

They don't sound any different or any worse than Dead Moon, which is exactly what you'd expect.

And just like Dead Moon, The Pierced Arrows live out of a van. They’re rolling into Washington, D.C. on May 14th to play at Kset (that club where Matt does those memorial shows).

So, I'm using this as an excuse to invite everyone to the show and maybe talk some rock, Dead Moon, The Pierced Arrows, or just life in general...

if you are rock and roll you have to wear a shirt like this

Seriously, read music subforum rule. It doesn't say anything about it being forbidden to say a band was bad just because you saw them live and your friend, who you actually trust, thought they sucked too...
Jesse Sanchez60 said:I don't know, it didn't occur to me to hit up The Fillmore for their show, even though some people are saying it wasn't actually that tragic...

No, apparently it was a total disaster. Six told me everything she sang was off-key as hell and the band sounded as unpolished as the Misfits.
boldraven93 said:It would be helpful if someone could explain what an ATA Carnet actually is, for us mere mortals who don't spend our lives organizing concerts... 😕

Think of an ATA Carnet as a "passport" for technical or musical gear. It’s just a document listing everything you’re bringing in and taking out of a country. Even much smaller bands than The Mission carry them, often specifically for shows in the US, since you don't need this paperwork when traveling between EU countries. Complaining that customs is being difficult because they won't let you through without an ATA Carnet is like complaining that they won't let you into a country without a passport—you just want to get in, play the show, and leave. That's the law, end of story. Not to mention, customs officers are usually total jerks anyway...
It’s not the system’s fault they don't have an ATA Carnet.

Edward Bishop78 said:The court ruled in favor of the songwriters. I don't know if they ever actually banned Mustaine from hearing his own tracks, but every time they wanted to play those two songs, they had to pay him royalties.

That’s what I told you—they can't stop them from performing the songs. He can sue if they don't pay the performance royalties and his percentage of sales from the first two albums (and any others) where he's credited as a writer. If he had actually banned them from using the material, The Four Horsemen, Mechanix, and Ride The lightning wouldn't even be on the first album, let alone the second.

edit: James is mostly just a mess of an alcoholic/druggie. Same goes for Mustaine. I won't get into who was more talented. To be honest, it was a bit uncomfortable watching Dave end up in some kind of monster place after 25 years just because they kicked him out of the band...

Besides, Mustaine would be an absolute fool to try and ban them, considering the royalties from sales and public performances he's entitled to under American copyright law.

Dave Mustaine wrote and composed them without any input from James.

www.allmusic.com states:

Ride the Lightning (Burton, Hetfield, Mustaine)
The Four Horsemen (Hetfield, Mustaine, Ulrich)

If they were banned from using TFH, it wouldn't be on the first album, and especially not RTL on the second...
Kyle Jackson54 said:I caught them live on NPR, they were brilliant. December 7th, 2006, if I recall correctly. Let me check Google... My bad, I was totally off. It was actually Dec 8th.

There was also a show on April 12, 2005
