The point is maximizing how fast protein hits the muscles to prevent breakdown and potentially trigger growth—provided your diet actually supports that approach. Stop talking nonsense; it’s clear you have no clue what you're discussing. You're rambling about slowing digestion and glucose when I'm specifically talking about the MuscleTech formula. Do I really need to sit down and explain post-workout insulin sensitivity to you?
Do yourself a favor: do some actual homework before posting more mindless, low-IQ questions to clutter this forum. Thanks.

🤦

Just another know-it-all, and an arrogant one at that...
Alright then, where's the proof?

dustyhawk32 said:Look, I’m just trying to break down the molecular mechanics for you—in layman's terms—of what actually happens in your stomach when you mix whey with milk.
My goal here is simple: I want to help people get their money's worth from the supplements they buy, just like another user mentioned.
The bottom line is getting that protein to your muscles as fast as possible.
Do whatever you want, but I’m stating the facts. This isn't about my opinion or following some arbitrary rulebook; it's about how human biology actually functions.
What accelerates whey absorption in MuscleTech PWM is glucose, dextrose, or what others call fruit sugar (and let me be clear: I am NOT talking about fructose).
Enjoy your training, but if you're going to bother doing it, at least do it right. I assume you all want to see progress, not regression, even if you're just training for fun. 👍

I'm not sure if you've done your homework, but professional athletes typically consume multi-component proteins post-workout. Research shows that the Glycemic Index (GI) of the carbs consumed doesn't necessarily have to be a deciding factor for recovery. While studies prove whey protein speeds up recovery, that effect is mostly limited to the first thirty to sixty minutes after consumption. For most people, the difference is marginal and completely irrelevant for recreational lifters. Relying solely on whey as an amino acid source isn't the optimal meal; it's far better to consume multi-component proteins, ideally paired with a blend of carbohydrates—specifically a combination of monosaccharides and polysaccharides.

Seriously, what kind of logic are you using to justify mixing your post-workout meal—specifically your MuscleTech whey with milk—after a lifting session!??!?
Milk slows down digestion. On top of that, your stomach is already struggling to process your MuscleTech, which usually consists of whey and glucose.
You don't want that glucose sitting there undigested. 🙂
You know exactly what happens when those nutrients don't hit the muscles immediately...
If you absolutely can't stand the thought of using water, fine—mix the milk, whey, and oats in the morning.
Or if you're eating a full meal after a long gap—say, three hours—then sure, go ahead with the whey, milk, and some whole grains or maybe an ounce of low-fat cottage cheese to slow the whey down...
But when it comes to your post-workout MuscleTech, it’s water or nothing.

Oh yeah? And can you actually back that up with any evidence?
For someone just training recreationally, it doesn't matter one bit whether they have milk or water in their post-workout shake, unless they're specifically trying to cut weight.
Have you ever even heard that excessive amounts of glucose also slow down digestion?

granitegardener14 said:You can grab some eBay Whey from MuscleTech for about $100.

I picked some up recently and I’m actually pretty happy with it—the flavor is solid, it mixes well, and I didn't deal with any digestive issues.

It's a bit easier on the wallet, and word is it holds its own against Optimum Nutrition.

Personally, MuscleTech gives me regular stomach issues because of the lactose.
It's mostly just concentrate with a tiny bit of isolate thrown in.
Plus, you get these annoying little clumps when you mix it; there is simply no comparison to Optimum Nutrition.

Brandon Newman3 said:Some guys on an online fitness forum suggested I take Mass with dextrose after my workout. They told me to check how many carbs are in the Mass and then balance it out with the dextrose. Is 60 grams enough? Now I'm even more confused about how to actually consume this stuff. Since I'm a beginner, it's all a bit overwhelming. The label on the Mass says to take it three times a day, but those forum users said that’s overkill. They suggested I just stick to what I mentioned—in the morning and after training with dextrose. On non-training days, just oats in the morning. What I really need to know is how much Mass should go into the scoop? Should I fill it to the brim? I don't own a scale to measure it precisely. Also, how many scoops of Mass should I mix with the dextrose after a workout if I decide to do that? Or, if I follow your advice and take it an hour before or in the morning with oats, how many scoops of 😕
should I use?

If three scoops equal 160g, how much is one scoop? It's not rocket science.
Look, just split it into two servings: one before training and one after. Besides, these types of supplements are generally designed for high-level athletes with grueling schedules, not for casual gym-goers.
And why on earth do you feel the need to drink it first thing in the morning? You aren't going to be cycling or running in your sleep and draining your glycogen stores.
Eat some oats in the morning. Take that Mass and split it into two 80g portions, or just use it after your workout for recovery. Personally, I'd probably throw some creatine in there before training too.
On rest days, use it as a snack during the day, but don't take it all at once (like the full 160g).
And whatever you do, don't mix that Mass with milk—stick to water!

crimsondrifter15 said:Look, man, here’s a wild suggestion: actually read the instructions.

Personally, I’d only take this once a day—specifically right after training.

The issue is that one serving (3 scoops) hits 160g, and they recommend taking it twice daily for 8 weeks.
In other words, you're looking at roughly 14g of creatine every single day for two months. That's going to load you up fast, making you think you've packed on massive muscle when, in reality, you're just bloated from the creatine.

I’d split that 160g total into two separate doses.
For me, taking 30g of a carb blend, 30g of multi-source protein, roughly 3g of creatine plus BCAAs, and a touch of glutamine as a post-workout meal is plenty. I’d personally take the first serving about an hour before hitting the gym, but that’s just my way of doing things.

Also, how much Mass should I mix with how much water? Someone recommended I use Mass with oats in the morning on training days, and then post-workout with dextrose. On non-training days, I just take it with oats in the morning. I need to know the exact way to use Mass, and should I be using heaping scoops? Here is the Mass I am talking about:

First off, I don't get why you'd bother adding dextrose after a workout. Who actually gave you that advice?
Second, this stuff packs 7g of creatine per 160g of powder. That isn't small; in my opinion, it’s overkill.
I suggest you drink at least 2-3 liters of water a day specifically because of that creatine load. Watch your dosages closely, otherwise, you'll end up overdoing the creatine—which is likely the whole reason this supplement even works.

I picked up some MuscleTech pro whey to test out, and I’ve gotta say, I’m pretty satisfied with it—aside from the flavor being a hair too sweet for my liking. It packs more carbs than Optimum Nutrition, but the solubility is nearly on par with Optimum, and it doesn't foam up much more than Optimum does either. That said, it has significantly less glutamine compared to Optimum. Surprisingly, MuscleTech whey actually outperformed MuscleTech for me here.

Sam Roberts said:No matter how much they hike prices in Canada, they’ll never match what we’re seeing here in the States.
Our guys are nothing but straight-up thieves.

At some point, those prices might creep closer to ours, but they’ll never actually catch up. It’s simple math: brands like Optimum Nutrition, MuscleTech, and Labrada don't move nearly as fast here, so retailers end up sitting on old stock for much longer. They aren't going to refresh their inventory at these new, higher price points as quickly as they do in Canada. On top of massive profit margins, we're also fighting a 23% food tax, whereas they're only looking at 8.5% over there.
I've heard from my sources that Optimum Nutrition should see about a ten percent bump, though it'll be a gradual climb rather than a sudden spike. That's the word on the street...

Edward Mitchell4 said:Didn't that MuscleTech stuff used to be on sale? Did they just hike up the prices?

MuscleTech and Optimum Nutrition are still technically on sale, but the discount isn't what it used to be. If you buy them individually, you're paying about a dollar more per unit than before.
Just two days ago, MuscleTech whey was sitting at $39.99 after tax; now, it's climbed to $40.99.

Let me correct myself.
Prosport has already started hiking their prices!

Not a single one in retail yet, but don't hold your breath—it's coming...
Wholesale costs have already surged. The supply side has jumped, so it’s just a matter of time before the consumer sees that hit at the register. Don't expect a sudden overnight spike; they’ll likely bleed the prices up incrementally.
I’m getting this intel straight from the source, and that article you mentioned only reinforces what I'm seeing.
Besides, this trend has been staring us in the face for quite a while now.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Listen up, everyone. I've got some bad news for you.
Some of you might have already heard the rumors, but I want to make this clear: retailers in Canada have already started hiking prices on whey concentrate and casein. This isn't random; global market prices have been climbing steadily since the start of the year.
I fully expect we’ll see those same price hikes hitting the US soon, so my advice is simple: stock up while you still can.

I’m being dead serious here.

Take a look at this:http://www.prlog.org/10705477-price-...must-read.html

Even though this article dates back to 2010, the logic holds perfectly for today. Massive corporations sit on huge stockpiles of raw materials, which acts as a buffer, meaning they don't feel the sting of rising costs immediately—but once those reserves run dry, the consumer pays the price.

200 count Twinlab Dual Tabs multivitamins/minerals

I directed my comment at "chuck90," not you.
I’m talking about ON whey.
Twinlab is overpriced, and unless you're a high-level athlete, there's zero reason to be slamming those massive doses of vitamins and minerals.

Ronald Cox96 said:It’s a 2:1:1 Recovery blend, and the expiration is 5/2011. That should cover the whole month of May. Honestly, I only grabbed it because they slashed the price due to the date, and since I see people raving about it, I figured why not? Besides, I plan to polish this stuff off in maybe two or three weeks anyway. It tastes fine. 🙂

Yeah, that covers all of May.
Using a variety of protein and carb sources is definitely a superior combo compared to just slamming pure whey and glucose after a workout.
