Ronald Cox96 said:Is it safe to take a supplement if it’s past its expiration date? I'm not talking about three or four months down the line—just maybe fifteen days or so. I grabbed one on sale because it was nearing its end date. A buddy of mine claims it's perfectly fine as long as you don't let it sit around for months after the fact. I wanted to get some outside perspectives before I start crushing these 🙂

Sure, you can, but don't drag your feet. Use it up immediately.
If you notice a sour taste after a while, toss it in the trash.

Bryan Cook2 said:What’s your take on Weider?
Is it just a legacy brand, or does the product actually hold up?

Regarding Weider, I can tell you one thing for certain: their creatine is garbage. As for the rest of their lineup, I haven't personally tested it, but the general consensus among serious lifters is pretty negative. I used to think they were riding on old reputation alone, but if I get my hands on their whey protein soon, I'll let you know if it's worth the money or just more hype.

For what it's worth, I compared their creatine to the stuff from Optimum, and Optimum wins hands down because the powder is finer and dissolves much better in water.
EAS is a reliable option; I've used it before and was satisfied.
Regarding international brands, Powerbar is a great choice, though I can't speak to their proteins—I only tried their creatine, which was remarkably similar to Optimum, but even then, they're overpriced.
People claim Peak is excellent, but frankly, the flavors leave a lot to be desired.
BSN is also a good bet. MuscleTech is way too expensive, Twinlab is decent, and I tried Ultimate Nutrition once a long time ago—over ten years back, if I recall correctly—and the flavor seemed a bit too sweet, plus it was pricey here in the States.

Let me correct myself there. I mistakenly categorized Powerbar as a European brand, but it's actually American.🤦

I was using some pure protein from Labrador a while back..

Labrador is a solid choice, but they charge way too much for it.
In fact, I compared their creatine to what Optimum puts out; the Optimum stuff wins hands down because the powder is finer and dissolves much better in water.
If you want a reliable option, go with EAS—I’ve used it before and was satisfied.
Looking at international brands, Powerbar is a great pick, though I can't speak to their proteins since I only ever tried their creatine, which was strikingly similar to Optimum's, but even then, the price tag was steep.
People claim Peak is excellent, but honestly, the flavors leave a lot to be desired.
BSN is also a strong contender. MuscleTech is overpriced, Twinlab is decent, and I tried Ultimate Nutrition once a long time ago—over a decade, if I recall correctly—and the flavor was a bit too sweet, plus it was pricey here in the States.

So, what's your recommendation? Where are you getting yours?

I actually sell it myself, and I can get you MWP at some pretty solid prices too.

Here is the website and their contact info so you can reach out and ask. I'm not too sure about the multivitamins, though...👍

You're overpaying. There are cheaper options out there.

Of course I’m going to watch it. Honestly, based on the nonsense you’re spewing, it's clear you don't have a clue what you're talking about.
The powder was tested by actual professionals, not some random guy off the street.
I'm interested in this for another reason too: my work is actually tied to this industry, so I have skin in the game. 😉

I’ve been running this supplement game and hitting the gym for about 15 years now. I tried Scitec a while back, and frankly, I was disappointed. The flavor was sickly sweet, and the solubility was a joke—it just clumps together and sticks to the spoon. It’s essentially just pure concentrate loaded with artificial sweeteners. It’s common knowledge that with a basic powder concentrate like that, you're looking at only about 50% protein content.
If you find that so hilarious, do yourself a favor and watch 60 Minutes tomorrow. Maybe then you'll finally realize that not all protein powders are created equal.
The link you provided discusses a recent investigation into tainted supplements being sold online. It’s a classic cautionary tale about the Wild West of the dietary supplement industry. Here is the reality: when you buy products from unverified third-party sellers online, you aren't just buying vitamins; you're playing Russian roulette with your health. These investigations consistently show that certain "natural" boosters are spiked with undisclosed pharmaceutical ingredients to make them feel more effective. It's deceptive, it's dangerous, and it's happening right under our noses in the US market. If a product promises miraculous results overnight, treat it like a red flag. Stick to reputable brands you can actually trust—think GNC or established names with transparent manufacturing processes. Don't let some fly-by-night website gamble with your physiology just because they have a flashy label. If you wouldn't trust a random stranger handing you a pill on a street corner in Chicago, don't trust a sketchy pop-up ad. Stay smart.

It’s honestly surprising that there are still people out there actually using that overrated Scitec stuff.

Robert Hernandez9 said:Use some logic, people. Whey protein existed long before we had these 30-40g serving sizes, and the pros used it just like any other supplement. Back then, there weren't a hundred different types of protein available, yet people still achieved incredible results. At the end of the day, it’s all pretty much the same; what matters is your diet, your training, and your recovery—not whether your whey foams up more or less. As long as there's no soy in it, you're fine. Results are earned through grit and hard work; a supplement won't do a damn thing if everything else isn't dialed in perfectly.

Man, I wish it were actually that simple. In the old days, bodybuilders relied heavily on egg protein.☕
Without a solid training program and a deep understanding of anatomy, various training methodologies, biomechanics, and so on, even a perfect diet won't be enough—and the reverse is also true.

Keith Peterson36 said:I have a question,
whereabouts in San Diego can I pick up some protein?
I noticed they carry stuff at CVS($17) and Walgreens (starting at $20 and up)

Why bother with retail stores?
Just order online through an ad and arrange shipping via USPS; you'll end up saving more than you would walking into a shop.

is cheapest.

Go with Optimum or GNC if you ask me.
I’m currently running with GNC and I'm satisfied with the results.
MWP is next on my list.
Avoid Scitec; it’s loaded with sugar, and frankly, I doubt how much actual protein is even in there.
Best time of day to work out? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Olivia Wells6 said:I've been using the Yourself Fitness program and I'm pretty happy with it so far. I've knocked out six workouts and started doing 60 minutes every day. However, I'm wondering when the most effective time of day to train is. Is it morning, midday, or evening? Right now, I mostly work out at night, but my goal is to lose weight and build up my stamina.

It really comes down to how busy your schedule is, but late morning is usually the sweet spot.
Personally, I always hit my heaviest lifts during my sessions between 10 AM and 1 PM because that’s when I’m at my absolute peak energy.

Why are you so obsessed with that Twinlab stuff?
What kind of cash are we talking about?

granitegardener14 said:Has anyone actually used Twinlab 100% Whey before?

I see it listed on eBay as one of the cheaper whey options, and you can grab a large $100 5 lb tub...

It’s cheap right now because a retailer in Canada is running a promotion since Twinlab is a new addition to their inventory. While they're trying to move stock, the price will sit lower than Optimum Nutrition, but don't get used to it. Twinlab is typically premium-priced, so don't expect this deal to last forever at those US retailers. It's a solid choice, sure, but there are better options out there like Optimum Nutrition or MuscleTech. If you have the cash and want top-tier quality, stop looking at pure whey and go for a multi-component blend instead.

There are a handful of people on there who actually know their stuff—real professionals—but they’re rare and barely post. The rest? It’s mostly just kids playing expert, handing out garbage advice thinking they've figured it all out.
Can you get results without supplements? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
dustymoose53 said:I'm 17 years old, 5'10", and about 163 lbs. I've been hitting the gym for a month now. After my workouts, I eat low-fat cottage cheese mixed with bananas, and sometimes I'll have some yogurt too. To be honest, I can't afford whey protein right now. Is it actually possible to see serious results without relying on whey or other supplements?

Thanks

Don't obsess over supplements. Fix your actual diet first. Bump up your protein intake, slash saturated fats to an absolute minimum, and make sure you're getting enough complex carbohydrates—you need those to fuel progress just as much as the protein does. If you really want to spend money, maybe grab some multivitamins or minerals, because I highly doubt your current diet is diverse enough to cover all your bases.

I was thinking specifically about this; I'm quoting from another forum: "And what’s crucial—avoid milk and dairy products, because they contribute to an increase in lactic acid in the muscle, and with more lactic acid—the inflammation itself lasts longer..." Is that actually true? Do you know anything about this?
P.S. solution: Andol after training, then Whey in milk😁

When people post stuff this serious, they usually forget the most important part: backing it up. Where are the references for these claims?
I'd bet my life that claim originated on some random fitness message board.
What actual studies have confirmed this?
People, just relax and stop nitpicking every little detail!
