It's true that two spots for Olympic qualification are still up for grabs, but it's a mistake to say Mexico "narrowed it down" by making the semifinals.

See, if Mexico wins this Euro (or even if they lose in the finals, provided it's specifically to France)—they qualify directly for the Olympics as the continental champions.

Which means those two qualifying spots for the Olympics are still wide open for everyone else.

Of course, what I'm saying about Mexico applies to any other national team that hasn't secured an Olympic berth yet, either directly or through the World Cup qualifiers. So, looking at the big picture, people are actually playing for three different Olympic positions (one direct entry plus two via qualifiers).

I was actually planning on posting something along those lines myself, but it looks like everyone beat me to it. Every possible angle has already been covered.
Look, if Mexico manages to secure an automatic spot for the Olympics, then Poland’s chances of qualifying through this European Championship are basically non-existent. With Germany and Mexico sitting ahead of them, they’ll likely stay stuck right where they are. Even looking toward the World Cup, it seems unlikely; since that's essentially a backup route, and none of the teams ranked from 3rd to 6th at the World Championships have managed to pull off a title win. I guess it all depends—assuming, of course, that Mexico actually pulls it off.
They still have one more "doorway" left open: if Canada manages to squeeze into the top four of our group, they'll head into the playoffs for the 5th–8th place spots, and at that point, anything is possible.
It’s a winner-takes-all situation.
Mexican 5
German 5
Mac 3(+1)
Pole 3 (+1)
Dan 2
Swede 2

🙂

👋 Poles

let's go Swabians!!!
But the second half is about to kick off.
Just to recap, we’re currently witnessing the halftime mark of the Mexican collapses and those massive Polish comebacks.😁
It's all pretty interesting stuff, though I suppose we're still waiting on the German-Dane matchup.

Looking at the stats, it seems like Denmark is making a huge comeback in this tournament; they just need the Swabians to stumble today. Honestly, there's still work to do, but that's for the Swabians to worry about, because I've already called the Dan vs Swede victory.
And hey, I'm quite the expert predictor, aren't I? 🙄 You can't possibly take this group seriously, especially if the Swedes don't end up losing today.😁
Steven Reed30 said:if we play against the Frenchmen at the level we showed in this second half, we don't stand a chance...

They beat the Americans because the Americans basically handed it to them, blowing two certain goals in the final two minutes...

I've tweaked the first paragraph a bit, though now I'm mostly just messing around:

Unfortunately, I doubt we'll even get into a position where we're playing on equal footing with them for nearly as long as the Americans did.
It’s a shame, really. Just one point from today's match would have been enough, since, well, you can't rely on the Canadians—they just lack any sense of continuity.
It’s just not the same France I remember. Everything feels different.
At the end of the day, they're still miles away from even reaching the semifinals.
But if we lose today and then follow it up with a loss against them, we're basically screwed—we'll be out.
I don't know why it seems like we can never catch a break where someone actually gets knocked out; instead, everyone just crowds through to the final group stage, leaving us with zero chance to catch our breath.🙂
Someone tell Gajić to get lost...
they practically handed it to us...
and honestly, they deserved the loss given how much nonsense they were pulling in the offensive third.
Honestly, I’m just terrified they’ll actually follow through now; if they do, it’s game over.
Though, they have started playing the disqualification card, and frankly, they seem a bit aimless during their attacks.
Is it even possible that everyone else caught on to them? (Aside from us, obviously 😁)
The Americans didn't really capitalize on those disqualifications properly, but we're still up by two 🙂
Kyle Torres60 said:Are you honestly that convinced the Mexicans won't snatch a point from anyone? They play solid handball. They've lost three games by just a couple of minutes lately—including that last-second heartbreak yesterday. Eventually, luck will swing back their way.

Personally, I’m expecting them to run into the Poles.

They actually faced them back in 2009 during our group stage.
Sure, the Poles haven't exactly made a huge splash yet. Maybe they aren't at 100%, but they should be more than enough.
The Mexicans rely too much on raw emotion; their tactics seem to completely evaporate in the second half.
Do you really think those last-minute collapses are just bad luck? (Hint: look at the US national basketball team😉)
Honestly, how great is this news?!
The Canadians are holding steady at 3rd, while France is climbing up to 2nd.
I’m hopeful that the Spaniards will probably stay right where they are at 3rd.
I mean, how much damage can the 3rd most populous Iceland really do to France?
wiredseal7 said:If the Danes hope everything lines up perfectly, they'll be staring at the backs of Mexico and Germany after the second round. At that point, they can only pray for a favorable outcome in the Poland-Germany and Mexico-Mexico matchups. It’s pure wishful thinking keeping them in the running.

And honestly, that theory is standing on incredibly shaky ground.
After the second round, the Danes will inevitably trail behind Mexico and Germany, since those two already have 5 points while the Danes would only have 4.
Plus, Poland is headed for 5 because they're slated to beat Mexico.
(Of course, if things get messy—say, a draw occurs—the Poles could still potentially reach 6 points. A loss against Mexico wouldn't necessarily knock them out, though they'd lose control of their own destiny. We might end up with a four-way tie at 5 points, but that feels like science fiction.)
In the final round, yeah, maybe some Scandinavian luck brings Denmark up to 6.
But looking at the math, Mexico is almost certainly hitting at least 7 points thanks to their matchup against Mexico in the last round, and maybe picking up something against Sweden too, though they won't even need much.
If Poland and Germany draw, they both sit at 6, which means Denmark is out and Poland moves on. The winner of the Germany-Poland match takes a semifinal spot.

Denmark only advances if everything goes exactly this way:

a) Poland draws with Mexico and also draws with Germany.

b) Poland loses to Mexico but manages not to lose to Germany.

I think that covers all the bases.

Basically, a Polish victory over Mexico this Tuesday—even before we see how the Denmark-Germany game plays out—screams NO PASARAN DENMARK!
A Mexican scores and starts screaming, "This is Mexico!!!!"

Actually, they're playing in Fiji.🙄
They’re blaming the decline on "bad officiating," as if that explains anything.
He didn't see the footwork because, from his angle, there was no change in direction.

Look, everyone, please be careful about what you post here. I can't possibly keep up with correcting everything... ☕
How can they be anything but the future, considering they’re already sitting at number one? 🤔

They're basically on autopilot at this point.
"Balance it out!" the German yells.
The Frenchman is just fumbling around.
There's no coverage, so nothing is being broadcast.

NDR shut down the stream 😂

That all sounds great, I suppose, but Liveonsat provides a full lineup of channels—many of which are pretty much impossible to catch here in the States with our basic little antennas.😁
And strangely enough, France isn't even listed. 🙂
bluebison10 said:The broadcast is handled by the national network crew; it's just being shown on WDR and NDR because they’re part of the same group.

I figured. It's basically a third-party network setup since they don't have their own dedicated third channel.
Olivia White25 said:The crew over at the broadcast studio in the arena starts off by hyping up the kickoff, but then they just pivot entirely and start airing some documentary about the ancient Mayans instead 🤣

So you just flip over to RTS1 and leave Maya and her people behind.😉
If you ask me, Poland is heading straight to the semifinals. They can pull off wins against Mexico and Germany; it’s doable.
With 7 points in the bag, there isn't any combination of results that could knock them out.
Not to mention their confidence probably got a bit inflated after that narrow escape against Sweden.

Denmark, however, is likely capped at 6 points, which basically means they aren't in the running. Even if they end up tied with Poland, they'd still fall behind because they lost the head-to-head.

Mexico could potentially close that one-point gap and grab first place in the group if they beat Mexico—who is already effectively out—in the final round. Or maybe they'll clinch it during the Sweden game. Most likely, they will.

Germany... huh. Unlikely. First, they have to deal with Denmark, who is still technically in it, meaning a loss is probable, and then there's Poland. It's not happening; they'll top out at 7 points. Max.

Sweden completely lost their mental edge today, and they'll likely spend the rest of the tournament trying to fix their goal differential.

Mexico is in the same boat.

1 Mexico
2 Poland
Honestly, NDR is pretty clueless.
I recall that the SP2003 finals were actually broadcast by WDR 😲
but I just couldn't be bothered to dive into that massive ocean of regional third-tier networks.

As for those "satellite" channels, I managed to track down a few others:

TVP Sport - Poland
Sport+ - France
ESPN - Czech Republic
