I’d say the standard is about 5 to 10 ounces per person if the desserts are just sitting there on the table all night. Since this is a buffet, they'll probably serve them after the main course. Three pieces sounds low to me, too. But honestly, people tend to eat less when they actually have to get up and walk over to grab something 😁
Look, please stop spamming individual posts. If you actually want to respond to multiple people at once, just use the multiquote feature.
Let's say you're looking to reply to three different comments. For the first two, hit that multiquote button in the bottom right corner—it looks like quotation marks; they'll turn orange once selected. On the third one, the last one you want to address, just click Quote. Your reply window will pop up. Just type your response directly under each quoted section (each one starts with
and ends with
). Once you've finished typing, hit Send. It’s not rocket science.
If you're still confused, just shoot me a DM. Thanks for listening.
Quite a few women here have ordered cupcakes from Sweet Treat before. About two or three years back, I think they were roughly $4.00 per piece. I can't recall if anyone’s grabbed some lately, but as far as I remember, everyone was perfectly happy with Sweet Treat.
Just a reminder: don't go posting phone numbers, email addresses, or any other private info out here in the open. Use private messages if you need to swap details. It’s common sense, really. Thanks.
The thread regarding wedding advice in California has been working perfectly all these years, so I’d prefer if posts about weddings in San Diego stayed right there. There’s a search bar in the top right corner if you need to find something, and honestly, Google indexes our forum posts quite well anyway. Please just be understanding about me merging this topic into the existing one.

I know Washington, D.C. isn't exactly in your backyard, but why not just call them and ask about renting one? 😉
We didn't bother sharing any cake. It wasn't worth the hassle, and frankly, I didn't hear a single soul complaining about it. Generally speaking, I rarely leave a wedding with leftovers.
Posts reading "check your inbox," "DM me," or whatever similar nonsense are flagged as spam and deleted. If you actually want to talk, use private messages. Don't make this harder than it needs to be.
Karen Johnson49 said:Hey, can someone give me a heads-up on how many pounds of dessert I actually need to grab for a dessert buffet if I'm hosting about 90 people?
The standard rule of thumb is about 0.3 to 0.5 pounds per person.
Kevin Martin8 said:So, I heard from someone once that you basically aim for like 5 little treats per person... so if you take those 90 folks and divide by 5, that'll give you a rough idea of how much weight you're looking at!!
And how many pounds does that actually work out to according to your math?
Roger Peterson77 said:Can someone please tell me if I’m losing my mind here? Is it actually normal that the hotel where we're hosting our banquet is trying to charge us extra for a slice of cake $5.75, when they sell the exact same thing in their cafe for just $4.25?!
Just to be clear, they aren't even doing any fancy decorating. It's not like they're adding anything special—they’d basically just smear some frosting on it and stick a few fresh flowers on top. They don't even have a cake stand! I actually have to rent one from an outside vendor.
I was already mentally gearing up for a massive showdown with them, but my fiancé is just laughing his head off, telling me I'm totally overreacting. Honestly, it’s not even about the extra couple of bucks; it’s just the principle of the thing!
With 100 guests, that adds up to $133 more. It's pure greed. Just order the cake somewhere else and save yourself the headache.
