What kind of thread? What's the topic? Weddings or something else?
Go to the main page, pick the subforum you need—maybe even a specific local section if that's what you're after. Then just hit "New Thread" at the top left. Most sections have a rules thread pinned; might be wise to give those a quick read before you dive in. 😉
Christian Wright6 said:A bakery told me I’d need roughly 11 pounds for an 80-person crowd (which is our count)—and that doesn't even include the cake!!
... which means if a pound runs about $33, (and there are cheaper options out there) this is going to be way too expensive 😲😲
Correct me if my math on the quantity is totally off 🤷
That sounds like a tiny amount to me. You really need at least 10-15 ounces per person, so for 80 guests, you’re looking at 8-12 kg.
It's hard to find tasty treats cheaper than $20 a pound, and most things run about $80-$33 per kilo.
Come on, Country music fans, where are all those tailor recommendations hiding? 🙂
urbanfox38 and Hannah Moore32, take a look back at the previous pages of this thread. You might actually find some useful advice there if you bother to look.

My sister—and yeah, I know I’m being a total pest about this, 😁, but it’s just easier to mimic her since everything she did was flawless 🙂—ended up getting five cakes total (the main wedding cake plus four others). They were all different: one was a frozen breeze flavor, then a deep chocolate, then a Schwarzwald... I can't remember the fourth one off the top of my head, gotta ask her.🙂 It worked out great because guests could actually pick what they wanted. You know how it is—you don't want someone handing you a chocolate fudge when you hate chocolate, while the guy next to you gets a fruit medley and isn't a fan of fruit.😁 What kind of flavors did you all go with?
That's awesome, glad you loved it.👍 I meant the way they plate them, not the actual decorations. Does she charge extra for that? I'm planning on calling them next week to get a full breakdown of prices and see what the final damage will be. Is delivery still $67? I don't doubt the quality, though—they were just as good back in 2008.
How many pounds did you guys order, and what was the total hit to the wallet, if you don't mind me asking? (No pressure). My sister went with 70 lbs 😁 at $18 per pound.
Bottom tier was chocolate mousse, middle was strawberry-chocolate parfait, top was pistachio-hazelnut parfait. Honestly, I couldn't tell which part was better. 😍
We wanted something light since it was early June, and they kept it chilled, so it almost felt like eating gourmet ice cream cake.
Listen, if you have wedding leftovers you're looking to offload, please just list them in the designated thread. Handle all the specific details through private messages. Thanks.

They mostly stick to rock and pop, and they definitely don't touch country or that kind of stuff... 😉 If someone were looking for that specific type of music, I suppose I’d suggest they look for a group like The Barbers, or maybe something similar if they want that general party atmosphere... ☕
Yeah, looking back, you're right. When I say "everything," I'm thinking more along the lines of Taylor Swift or Rolling Stone. Country music just isn't in my wheelhouse. 😁
It ends up being the exact same deal as our way. Meet at the church, then head out for dinner... and if anyone wants to talk, let them. It’ll just go in one ear and out the other. 😁
Angela Cook7 said:🙂)))))))))))) Honestly, I don't think he’s even feeling the whole gathering thing... and if I'm being totally real with myself, I'm getting closer to just deciding it's better if he doesn't show up at all. By the way, what was the vibe actually like once you guys stepped out of the church? Was there any music playing or anything? Like, was there no procession or fancy bows on the cars and all that extra stuff?
We started with some prep and photos at the house just with the wedding party, then headed into town for more shots. We hit the restaurant, had about half an hour to recover from the heat while guests gathered outside for welcome drinks and small talk. There was a ceremony with the officiant in the garden behind the venue, followed by appetizers outdoors before we moved inside for dinner. Just some background music playing from a laptop out back—nothing fancy, just enough to kill the silence. Guests were invited at 7:00 PM, the ceremony ran from 7:30 to 8:00 PM, and we sat down for soup around 9:00 PM.
Angela Cook7 said:I know, I’ve been telling myself the same thing lately... though I am fully aware that a few resident killjoys will probably pop up just to lecture me on "saving money." But honestly, I’m just not the type who wants to spend my entire day prepping mashed potatoes and playing host. Now I find myself wondering: should I be catering to those critics, or should I just do what makes me happy? 😢 That is the million-dollar question, isn't it? Personally, I’d much rather get up, do my hair, put on some makeup, and head out for a photoshoot. Trying to play hostess all day sounds absolutely exhausting to me. I was curious, though—what kind of feedback did you get regarding the "not hosting guests" approach? I know a lot of people are doing that now, and I think it’s a fantastic idea! There's no frantic rushing around, and everyone shows up to the venue feeling refreshed and ready to go..
Who else are you going to please if not yourself? Maybe if your future husband is obsessed with everyone gathering early, you'll have to compromise. If he doesn't care or would rather skip the chaos too, then the decision is made. As for those busybodies, don't worry—they'll find something else to complain about sooner or later. 😬 Quincy:
what was the feedback like regarding "not having guests gather early"? I know more people are doing this lately, and I think it's great! No unnecessary drama, and everyone shows up at the venue actually rested...
The comments? Things like, "So glad we met up then," or "Thank God it didn't drag on from noon until the next morning." Everyone I've talked to preferred having the afternoon to actually get ready. Honestly, I think it wouldn't matter if the wedding were on a Saturday or not.
I should mention I'm not from California, but I doubt it matters. Frankly, I couldn't care less about what others think. I don't see why anyone feels entitled to lecture me on when or where my wedding starts. 🤷
In my view, there's absolutely zero point in gathering everyone before the service and then dragging them to dinner later. Just meet at the church and call it a day; people are going to be eating in thirty to sixty minutes anyway. 😉
We didn't bother with any pre-wedding get-togethers at home either. We just invited everyone straight to the restaurant where the ceremony took place, and we all met up around 7:00 PM. I followed that logic because I’ve never been a fan of those marathon weddings that drag on forever; you want people to actually have time to get ready and arrive without losing their minds. Another thing was that since it was a Friday wedding, we didn't want to force anyone to rush out of work or deal with the stress of a ticking clock.
There is absolutely no way I'm spending money on dessert trays. 😁 Even if those gold ones didn't bother me—I actually owned some once, and they looked fine since everything was shades of yellow and gold anyway. 😬
By the way, I've tried pastries from both Lido and Sweet Secret, and honestly, they were both excellent. 👍
