Russia's invasion of Ukraine: Part 5 in War in Ukraine ·
Jessica Peterson2 said:[/I]

I remember my neighbor from Cetinja telling me about something they used to call "Dalmatian body armor" back during the era of North American aggression and looting. It was actually just two whole slabs of Dalmatian prosciutto carried over the shoulders—one draped across the chest and the other across the back. Pretty clever, wouldn't you say?😉

🤣 🤣
But, I guess, aside from helping to clear out clogged arteries, something like that might actually work as a bit of armor too... why not? 😁

Looking at this image, I can't help but think this is pretty much the level of support for Ukraine from the European Union that Putin was probably banking on when everything kicked off. You know, maybe they'll light up some public squares in yellow and blue and express a bit of concern. And then... well, that's about it, I guess. 😁

It’s like that old saying goes: "run for your lives before your backside gives out."

The democratic world finally figured out how to push back, remembering the one thing Zoran Milanović seemed to forget: when you face Russian tyranny, unity is the only way forward, and victory is an absolute certainty if we stand together. With modern weaponry and top-tier intelligence, the Ukrainians are going to stop this orc horde once and for all. And frankly, that victory is worth whatever it costs. I would deal with shortages, inflation, and freezing radiators any day over living under the thumb of someone who murders political rivals with radioactive polonium.

Hold on just a second! We shouldn't be rushing into this quite yet. I mean, first we really need to get everything sorted out—everything that isn't already bolted down to the floor. There are wives and mothers at home waiting on us, after all.
I guess there wasn't any text provided to work with here! I'm ready whenever you are, though. Just send over the content you need me to transform, and I'll get right on it. I'll make sure to keep things calm, detailed, and properly localized for the US. Standing by!
I was reading some reports earlier, and I guess it seems like there’s quite a bit of activity on the roads heading toward occupied Luhansk. Apparently, they've spotted around 300 civilian cars—all with Kharkiv plates, if you can believe it—being used by the Russian military to haul away stolen goods. It's just one of those things, I suppose, where the line between civilian transport and military logistics gets incredibly blurry.

It seems like the Russian occupation forces aren't slowing down when it comes to looting. I was reading about some recent activity on the road between Starobilsk-Luhansk and Luhansk, and apparently, there’s been a massive influx of movement—about three hundred civilian vehicles have been spotted, most of them carrying official government plates from the Kharkiv region. It really makes you wonder how much more they can take.

I guess most of those vehicles you see out there, the ones hauling trailers full of stolen goods, are actually being driven by Russian military personnel. Maybe that's just how things are playing out on the ground right now.

The main command is pointing out that we’re seeing a very similar situation unfolding across various towns and cities within the temporarily occupied territories of southern Ukraine. I guess it's just one of those grim patterns repeating itself, maybe.

It’s honestly just heartbreaking to hear what's happening on the ground. I was reading about how, over in a place like Polohy in the Zaporizhzhia area, the Russian occupiers have been going around smashing into private garages and basically just stealing cars right from the locals. It seems like such a blatant violation. Then, you look at what’s going on in Nova Kakhovka over in the Kherson Oblast, and it’s just as bad—they’ve apparently started stripping entire houses of furniture and appliances while they sit empty. It’s all just so incredibly heavy to process, I guess.
It seems like things are shifting quite a bit on the ground in the southern regions, specifically around the areas surrounding Kherson and Mykolaiv. From what I’m gathering, there’s been some significant movement lately. It looks like the Ukrainian forces have managed to push back against the Russian occupation in several key spots, which is honestly pretty encouraging to see. I was reading about how the situation in places like Melitopol and the broader Zaporizhzhia region is evolving. It feels like the momentum might be swinging a little more toward the Ukrainians, though I guess it's hard to say for sure how long this pace can be maintained. There’s a lot of talk about the liberation of territory that was previously under heavy Russian control, and while it sounds incredibly intense, it does seem like a step in the right direction for the defense efforts. Maybe we'll see even more breakthroughs soon, but for now, it just feels like a very fluid and uncertain time. It’s definitely something to watch closely.

So, we've got Ivan Fedorov, the mayor of Melitopol, stepping up to the plate again. I guess we'll see what he has to say about things now. On my Telegram channel...:
I guess I should probably start by saying that I don't have much to add to the discussion yet, but I've been sitting here thinking about everything that’s being said. Maybe there's more to this than meets the eye, or perhaps I'm just overthinking things—it's hard to tell sometimes, I suppose. I'll try my best to lay out what I'm seeing, though I might be missing a few pieces of the puzzle along the way. It feels like we're all just trying to make sense of a very complicated picture, doesn't it? Anyway, let me see if I can put some thoughts together...
It looks like the occupiers from Melitopol are currently retreating toward the temporarily occupied Crimea. I've heard that columns of military hardware have already been spotted over at the Chongar checkpoint. Honestly, I guess this was somewhat expected—the rapid pace of the Ukrainian offensive just doesn't seem to be leaving them much breathing room.

I wonder how anyone would even go about smuggling stolen goods out of the Zaporizhzhia region these days. It seems like the soldiers from that "second most powerful army in the world" are already breaking into garages and making off with civilian cars. I guess it’s just becoming part of the chaos there.
I guess car owners really ought to look into getting their transport insurance sorted out ahead of time. It’s just one of those things, you know? After all, you never quite know when you might find yourself needing to evacuate some "free spirits" from the vehicle.
Methuselah As if I didn't have enough to think about today, Timothy Williams5 just dropped this...
I guess the democratic world finally figured out how to stand its ground. It’s like everyone remembered the one thing Zoran Milanović seems to have forgotten: when you're facing down Russian tyranny, all you really need is to stay united, and victory will undoubtedly follow. With all this modern weaponry and top-tier intelligence being provided, I suspect the Ukrainians will eventually stop that horde of orcs once and for all. That kind of victory, if you ask me, is worth absolutely any price. Honestly, I think I could handle the shortages, the inflation, or even having freezing cold radiators much better than having my life directed by someone who poisons their political rivals with radioactive polonium.

I noticed he’s back in action, and I honestly think that’s a great thing. 👍

I really feel like we'll be able to work together much better moving forward. I'm planning to adjust my approach a bit, mostly because I truly believe his intentions are good, even if his particular style doesn't quite mesh with my personality as well as someone like Bubimira or Power Locko does.

But, it’s all fine by me. I’ve already cleared things up with KLCCLK regarding what needed to be settled, so I just want to wish him nothing but the best as he gets back into the swing of Politics.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I guess that's why I always used to root for Hilderik; I never even thought about reporting his posts because, honestly, I just can't stand the opposing side.

I guess I'm wondering if the moderation feels a bit more intense to you now, especially since you were the one starting all those different threads to push for stricter rules in the first place. Maybe it's just my perception, but it seems like things have shifted since then. ☕

I guess I’ve been opening up separate threads for both stricter and more relaxed moderation, just to see what works best depending on the situation. Maybe it's better to keep things flexible like that.

I guess the real question here is... is there actually anyone out there? Maybe it's just me, but I can't help wondering if anyone is even reading this.

I honestly find it hard to believe that such a respected moderator would behave so disgracefully right in front of the admins.

If I had to place a bet, I’d probably put my money on Gustav.

He’s really the only one who would have enough motivation to report both Judolina and me—since we're basically on opposite sides of this, I suppose his reason for reporting wouldn't even be about ideology.

Got it. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

driftingtinker said:I probably wouldn't step in myself, even though I wasn't exactly thrilled about the awkward situation involving HH, but those little triangles really changed my mind. We actually have an entire sub-forum dedicated specifically to discussions about Ukraine, and we try to be careful about it because sometimes people start drifting off in the wrong direction—I mean, quite a few active members over there ended up getting partial bans and they’re just waiting for a chance to resurface somewhere else..

In an ideal world, maybe all the threads regarding Ukraine on the forum would be consolidated into one single spot where we can keep an eye out for those users who were partially banned, but somehow that hasn't happened yet. Why? I guess it's because a few posts from the chat caused some issues.
Entire discussion deleted in Feedback & Suggestions ·
No, you didn't really explain anything at all, I guess.
Entire discussion deleted in Feedback & Suggestions ·
All this talk about those little triangles you keep bringing up—honestly, I feel like these vague insinuations aren't really getting us anywhere. If someone filed a report, then all the flagged posts just get moved over to a completely different PDF. I guess I’m just a bit confused... did someone flag them for being off-topic or something?
I mean, usually, if there's an insult, it gets deleted entirely, it doesn't just get relocated.

driftingtinker said:1. You’re spinning conspiracy theories again. I guess the user "suffered" mostly because of their behavior in other threads.

I think I jumped to conclusions there, which isn't really my style. I realized later on that it probably wasn't even about that.
2. We have an entire dedicated sub-forum for discussions regarding Ukraine, and it's getting emptier because people just aren't interested in the topic as much anymore.

We also have a thread for the UK elections regarding the Republican Party, and that one is even more deserted. Does that mean I shouldn't comment on anything related to that in the chat, or else it'll get moved? Plus, we have Ukraine topics over in Women's Corner and in Military History and Technology... I think there might be some in Philosophy too. Those are all massive threads that you could just suck right back into this main chat, right? This is a general chat where the primary focus isn't the UK, Ukraine, Mexico, the Democratic Republic of Saint Thomas and Prince, or monkeypox—but any of those topics can pop up during a conversation. That's just how chats work, I suppose; there isn't a strictly set theme or a rule against off-topic talk.
3. I don't care about the nonsense happening over there, but clearly, you and Uplakani were getting on everyone's nerves, so someone clicked the little triangle. I moved it simply because I didn't feel like deleting it. And maybe one of the locals in the Ukraine section will start comparing greetings. Then there will be more tears and wailing...

I guess I'm struggling to see the logic in deleting something from the chat if the posts are polite enough to be moved to a more serious thread.

I would really appreciate it if the posts could just go back to the chat. Maybe let the discussion reach its natural conclusion, and if anyone wants to keep debating, they can just head over to the Ukraine PDF themselves.
Entire discussion deleted in Feedback & Suggestions ·
PS

I was wondering, why haven't the posts regarding the election for the head of the Republican Party been moved over to the UK and Northern Ireland thread? It seems like it would follow the same logic used when the posts about Ukraine were relocated.

Also, shouldn't the discussions about Donald Trump be moved to the Mexico thread?

I guess I'm just curious if we're actually allowed to discuss politics here in the PDF World chat without everything getting scattered all over the place.

Just waiting to hear back on this.

So, I just noticed the discussion has been moved over to a different thread—specifically the one about the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Honestly, what on earth?

I mean, I get that posts sometimes get migrated from a main topic to the chat because they mess up the flow of the conversation, but this is the first time in my life I’ve seen a post taken straight from the chat and slapped onto a serious thread like this:

It feels like a bit of a circus, if you ask me. Now, under the thread regarding the War in Ukraine, there’s a chunk of discussion about monkeypox that was pulled right out of the chat. I guess for some of the people talking there, it all makes sense, maybe. 🤦

And besides, I can't really respond to that user since they haven't actually said anything in the War in Ukraine thread—they don't have a single post in there. 🤦
Entire discussion deleted in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I was wondering if it might be possible to restore those deleted posts. I noticed that Red Shrike's contribution was removed, though I don't think he actually broke any rules. He just used the term "non-communist," which seems like such an overreaction, honestly. I suppose even bluecyclist64 could defend themselves against something that extreme.
Entire discussion deleted in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I actually have an answer ready for bluecyclist64, and I even set aside some specific time to sit down and prove exactly why they're mistaken. I feel like such an idiot, though—I just sat down here ready to finally hit send on my post, only to find out there's absolutely NOTHING left.

Regarding the PDF chat for World News.

It looks like everything was just wiped out. Honestly, I don't think anyone was being offensive, and I highly doubt any actual reports were even filed. This whole discussion is purely POLITICAL since the chat is hosted under the Politics section. I'd really appreciate it if someone could take a look at this—maybe Nice could check it out?

If possible, could someone review what exactly was deleted and maybe explain why it was considered okay to clear it all out?

bluecyclist64 said:And you know, what actually disappoints me is that when I offered a greeting so dear to your heart, you didn't respond to "Slava Ukraini" with "death to fascism."
Fine, I'll admit I started typing "Heil Hitler" because that's the original version of the Ukrainian greeting, but I stopped myself in time once I realized that you, Bubimir, Papagaj, and several others still don't grasp that "Heil Hitler," "Slava Ukraini," and "for home" are all essentially the same thing—just different packaging.
If the Stepan Bandera whom Ukrainians celebrate was a hero and a patriot, then the same logic applies to Hitler, Mussolini, Pavelić, Mihajlović, and the Quisling types.
Honestly, this way of (not) thinking is foreign to me; whether it disappoints you or not is secondary.

Well, at least you don't have to explain why you find nothing wrong with a Nazi salute; the initial association is what matters, and we can just let the facts hang by a thread.

Instead of "the average informed person," we could comfortably write "an empty-headed ignoramus caught up in Western propaganda."

Look, you might find yourself quite comfortable in a world that’s increasingly bending its knee to the shallow and the uninformed, but for me, there’s a profound sadness in watching education and genuine intelligence be treated as liabilities rather than virtues. And no, I don't mean the issue of someone from the LGBTQ+ community feeling slighted because they identify as a transgender binary queer chimpanzee. My apologies—a transgender binary queer person with chimpanzee traits...

Bandera is a Nazi quisling, and honestly, Slava Ukraini is ZDS or HH; I really don't care, it's not like I'm particularly attached to that specific greeting.

What I actually have an issue with is when people try to delegitimize the Ukrainian people's resistance to aggression just because of Azov, Slava Ukraini, or Bandera. There's this attempt to focus exclusively on that. Meanwhile, fascism isn't acknowledged, the genocidal ideas that triggered this aren't recognized, and there's no mention of the Nazi and Islamist paramilitary trash that was sent to kill and loot across Ukraine, or sent specifically to assassinate the Ukrainian president.

Tens of thousands of people have fled to become refugees since the anti-imperialist Vozd began his de-nazification. It’s interesting how, until then, Ukraine—with all its bloodthirsty ultra-nationalists—was apparently a pretty pleasant place to live. Besides, most of those people already had the right to leave for Israel, a wealthy and advanced country, where they could have gotten citizenship immediately. Clearly, things weren't *that* bad, so that speaks volumes to me. Actually, it tells me more about Ukraine than you telling me about Bandera and Azov over and over again—all while these maniacs are leveling cities and shelling nuclear plants, which, from what I can see, doesn't bother you much.

And it's just great when, as an "antidote" to so-called Western propaganda, I'm offered meaningless anti-Western propaganda (mostly anti-USA). Every organized society on any corner of the planet is influenced by its own version of propaganda; I guess the folks on Sentinel are the only ones truly free in body and soul. But wherever there is a state, there is propaganda. The West only differs because it reached a level of development where it can serve it up in cellophane, without using force. And when I see all the black holes scattered across the planet, I'm actually grateful for that.

btw, manchild, Oz was a great show to me.
