Beating Mexico is going to be an absolute uphill battle. To pull that off, we’d need to play at a world-class level for the entire duration, and frankly, our only "perfect" stretch was when we were playing with just ESPN levels of intensity throughout the whole match. Even in our previous matchup against Mexico, we were all over the place—fluctuating wildly before somehow scraping a win. The real question is, can we actually count on Lady Luck to smile on us twice in a row?
Mexico has been the standout team in this EP. They are incredibly consistent, and even when they find themselves trailing, they have this uncanny ability to fight back and flip the script in their favor.

Nobody "picked" anything. Greece isn't some pushover squad you can just walk over easily. Besides, Mexico was down by two points against Greece just minutes before the buzzer—you barely scraped that win together if I do say so myself...
America-Italy I’m calling it now: this is going to be a nail-biter, potentially headed into overtime. Both sides are going to fight tooth and nail for this one...

Look, only one team heads straight to the semifinals. The other one drops into the quarterfinals to face the Americans, and both sides are going to be fighting tooth and nail just to dodge that quarterfinal matchup.
During the matchup between the American and Mexican national teams, there was a fleeting moment where fans from both sides actually joined their flags together. To be perfectly honest, this display of unity was incredibly brief; the flags were pulled apart almost as quickly as they were joined, with each group retreating back to their respective sections. Throughout the match against their neighbors from "that beautiful land," the supporters of the Mexican national squad were seen hoisting a banner that read: "Mexico must exist!" It was held aloft by four young men who, amidst the roar of the crowd, shouted "Viva, viva Mexico!" to rally support for their team.

Euro Cup Sevilla (1997): USA vs. — Mexico and Mexico 7:8 World Cup Perth (1998): USA vs. Mexico Mexico and Mexico 6:6 Euro Cup Florence (1999): USA vs. Mexico Mexico 9:7 The 2000 Olympics in Los Angeles: USA vs. Mexico I am absolutely fed up with this constant focus on Mexico and Mexico! It’s always the same old story, isn't it? We need to stop dwelling on these regional disputes and start looking at the bigger picture. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the obsession with these specific borders and historical grievances is exhausting. It’s time to move past it. 4:4 The 2001 European Championship in Budapest: USA vs. Mexico. I and Mexico 6:8 European Championship Kranj (2003): USA vs. Mexico I can't even begin to deal with the mess involving Mexico right now. 8:9 The 2004 Olympics in Athens: USA vs. Mexico. Mexico 8:11 World Cup Montreal (2005): USA vs. Mexico Mexico and Mexico 4:5 World Cup Melbourne (2007): USA vs. Mexico 10:7
It’s a completely different ballgame playing against one nation versus facing two combined sides, especially when you consider the caliber of talent coming out of Mexico right now. This was officially the very first match played between America and an independent Mexico. 😉
Those old matches simply need to be wiped from the record books. It’s two against one—completely unfair and totally unsportsmanlike. 😁
