How to get a Dunkin' rewards account and how to use it? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
I’m not entirely sure what they mean by "charge," but I went ahead and grabbed a classic Diners Club card... basically just so I can pick up some stuff on credit if I need to...

Ronald Allen said:Look, if you grabbed a charge card like I did, here’s how it actually works; $1200 you've got a monthly spending limit—that's what hits your bill next month—and then there's that other number they gave you, which is just for authorizing installment plans (I used mine for a few things).
Your total balance is basically whatever you spent against both limits (like, say you blew $833 on random stuff this month and bought something on a payment plan where the monthly chunk is about $67; that brings you to $900) and that whole amount is what you owe next month.
Obviously, if you load up on too many installments and your total monthly payments hit maybe $333, just assume you only have about 2600 left for your everyday spending (since 3600 limit minus that 1000 installment bit).
Just a little heads-up though, don't ever count on having the full amount available. I once thought I still had like $167 left, walked into a Target and 🙈
If you need anything else, just ask! 😉

Alright, I think I'm finally starting to wrap my head around this whole thing, so basically what I'm looking at is just trying to get a handle on buying that fuel, and the price they're asking for it is... $2933 Spread out over 36 months... that kind of monthly payment would be roughly... $83Whatever... if we've gotta deal with interest from Diners Club, then so be it... $93So, I guess that means I can actually pull the trigger on this since I've finally hit my credit limit... $1200...

3600-280=$1107 So, I'm basically hitting my limit here, isn't that right...

So, here’s what I’m thinking about doing next... I want to put some big expenses on my Diners Club card, but I'm not looking to mess around with those monthly installment plans or anything like that. I just want to charge it normally so the full balance hits my statement next month and I can just deal with it then...
So, if I actually end up getting approved for that loan... $93 Honestly, when it comes to gas, I could probably shell out even more every month if I had to... $1107 Wait, you're thinking about using a Diners Club card to cover the tanking... ?

Yeah, exactly... so when I'm looking to pick something up using my Diners Club card, but I don't want to deal with any installment plans or monthly payments—like if I'm just grabbing gas at a Shell station and want the whole thing to hit my statement next month—he just swipes it, the transaction goes through, and that's really it...

So, the lady over at Dunkin' told me my approved credit limit is basically right around what I pull in on my pay stubs... so we're looking at roughly $1200...

She also gave me this specific number to call before I go out and drop any serious cash on my Dunkin' card, just to give them a heads-up... she even used a TV from $2333 as an example, saying if I'm planning on financing something that pricey, I should probably check in with them first...

Now I'm wondering, I'm actually thinking about putting my gas expenses on a 36-month plan pretty soon, since the total comes to $2933, which works out to about $82 monthly with zero interest... honestly, let's just say $93 per month...

Is that actually doable? I mean, what does a credit limit actually mean in practice... does having $1200 mean my monthly payments can't go over $1200, or am I allowed to buy stuff as long as the total value doesn't exceed $1200?

thanks everyone for all the input, my PIN finally showed up in the mail today...

so I’m gonna give them a ring tomorrow about getting that loan approved

thanks

so my coworker just told me he actually got this official document sent straight to his house that lays out all the details, like his specific limits and everything else... he's not totally sure about the PIN situation, but he reckons it might have come in a separate mailing later on along with that paperwork...

I put in for my Diners Club card like two days ago, but there’s absolutely no PIN in the mail?!?!?

And then my buddy tells me I should have received the PIN by now too...

Plus, I honestly have zero clue what kind of credit limit they actually approved for me... 🤷

So, I finally pulled the trigger and picked up a Diners Club card, though it’s not one of those revolving credit ones, just a classic setup... they’re throwing in some pretty sweet perks right now, like no annual fee for the first year and a four-month grace period on payments...

It should be arriving in about two weeks...👍
Sweaty feet help? in Health ·
Just wanted to bring up this old topic again... man, the smell coming off my feet is just brutal. I get home after work, having spent nine hours straight sitting in an office, and my feet smell like absolute death... of course, it only happens when I'm wearing sneakers... in dress shoes, everything is totally fine.

So, what's actually the better fix? Should I be dropping a fortune on high-end kicks like some Nike Airs, or is it more about those deodorizing sprays and liquids? Maybe it's the insoles? Or should I just stop wearing them all summer long?

So, here’s the thing, my biggest issue is that I just feel the cold way more intensely than everyone else...
Like, say I wake up in the morning around 6 AM, and my husband is totally fine in just a long-sleeved shirt, while my wife might even be wearing shorts, but even if I layer up with two shirts, I'm still shivering... and we're literally just inside the house... It’s like, whenever there's even a slight chill in the air, I feel it twice as hard as anyone else does... why is that happening? I mean, I go see my doctor once a year for checkups, so I guess I have a pretty solid immune system and don't get sick much...

so I've got a bit of a question here...

my laptop is running Windows 5, but when it boots up, the display isn't filling out the whole screen...it's a 12" screen, but the image just sits right there in the middle, leaving at least an inch of dead space on every single side...I know on my desktop monitor I can just jump into the settings and stretch it out myself, but this laptop doesn't seem to give me that option at all...plus, I keep getting these constant errors saying there's a problem with the display driver, like it's just not the right one...is that actually what's causing this? if I manage to get the correct driver installed, will the image just automatically snap to fill the entire screen, or am I totally off base here?

and wouldn't it be expected that the system would already have the drivers stored in its memory anyway?

So, I grabbed that startup disk for CDs from the link up above—you know, for Windows 95, but specifically the boot CD version... so I burn it, pop it into my laptop, and absolutely nothing happens... just nothing at all... it keeps throwing that "invalid system disk" error right at me (even though I went into the BIOS and made sure it was set to boot from the CD drive first)... I can't believe my CD-ROM is actually busted, because this guy told me it was fine and suggested maybe my hard drive is the real culprit... I already wiped the partition and rebuilt it using FDISK, but the thing is, even when I try booting from a floppy, once the floppy actually loads, it won't assign a new drive letter for the installation files (like D: or E: or whatever)... man, I have no clue what the hell is going on with this thing...

John Cook72 said:No way, man, unless you totally messed up when typing out those filenames to copy over...
did you actually type
Code:
copy fdisk c:

or was that just a slip of the finger, because the file is actually named fdisk.exe

just check the floppy using dir to see what's actually on there and get the exact filenames down...

or, there's another thing: bootable USB drives keep the files compressed, and during the boot process it creates a RAM disk [it'll tell you which drive letter it assigned] and you'll find the unzipped boot files right there. but the screen should have made that pretty obvious, I don't know how you missed it...

oh wait, now that I think about it, I just remembered you're supposed to unpack it to a different drive letter, but that doesn't usually happen for me... so maybe the startup script is just bunk... it's possible...

Joseph Gomez24 said:I mean, look... you really need to have a Windows 98 bootable USB drive ready, I’ve got mine right here, and once you get the system running from that, you just type sys c:, which moves the operating system over to the C: drive, then you run copy a*.* c: to copy everything else over, and you basically have to copy everything so that the CD-ROM driver actually works when you reboot, and once that's done, you type copycon startup script, and then you'll need to tweak the commands in that file so it looks for programs on the C: drive instead of searching on the A: drive, which you're just going to disable anyway! After you've handled all that, just shut down the laptop, plug in the CD-ROM, turn it back on, and let the system boot straight from the C: drive... if it recognizes the CD-ROM, you can finally jump into the installation... right when the system starts up, it should tell you which drive letter the CD-ROM is assigned to! If it shows up as D:, then you just type D: (enter), then setup (enter), and if there aren't any extra directories before the setup file, the installation will kick off immediately! But if the Windows setup files are tucked away in a folder, you'll need to type dir/p (enter) to find out which directory they're in, then type cd win98 (if that's the one), and once you're inside, just type setup! And that's how it's gotta go... you can use the same trick to install Windows 95 too!

I've already tried copying everything from the floppy over to the hard drive, but it's just not happening... it keeps telling me it can't find the specific file I'm trying to move, like "fdisk" for example.
You know, I'll type copy fdisk c:, and it just tells me "file not found"... then I'll try to make some random dummy document, try to copy that, and it works fine... but all those essential startup files on the floppy just won't budge...

I guess I'll give it a shot with a bootable USB drive, assuming it even recognizes it... because even when I plug in the CD-ROM, the startup screen just shows the hard drive and completely ignores the CD-ROM...

Benjamin King2 said:Just copy the installation files from the CD straight onto the hard drive, then boot up using a floppy disk and you should be good to go. Honestly though, running Windows 98 with only 24 MB of RAM isn't exactly a great idea, you'd probably have a much smoother experience if you just stuck with Windows 95 instead...

See, the thing is, I can plug in the CD-ROM and eject the floppy, but could you walk me through how I'm actually supposed to get into DOS? Because if you don't have a startup disk handy, you can't even get into DOS to begin with... I already tried swapping the floppy out for the CD-ROM while I was sitting in DOS, but nothing happened at all...
