restlesssurfer97, you've got a point about the masks, especially since asymptomatic people spread it too.

That four-day incubation window is critical, which is why masking should have been the standard.

If we could prevent transmission from those without symptoms, things would be way easier to manage. It might have actually been manageable. I guess we wouldn't even be dealing with this whole mess.

But there's one catch.

There aren't any masks.

Pope, you’re honestly a fool for half the stuff you post here.

Why? People just want to be entertained, I guess.

It’s actually pretty funny, 🤣

Paul Martinez73 said:I’d say the ESPN guy, since he's younger, sharper, and more responsible—I actually expect him to grasp the fallout from what he does.

What am I supposed to explain to a 70-year-old? If you have grandparents still around, you already know how stubborn they can be... that old-age obstinacy is real. That's why we, the younger and smarter generation, have to act a bit more responsibly and look out for them.

Honestly, I think people would have way more empathy if this disease could jump from humans to dogs. People would keep their pups inside, avoid all contact, wear NASA spacesuits just to go home, and weep when their pets passed away. But as it stands, it’s just some old folks, so who cares...

Hope you get my point...

When you're 70 years old and part of a group that's already vulnerable, you really shouldn't be out there acting like this isn't a direct threat to you. I guess there's just no sense in trying to reason with people who can't see the danger coming.

I mean, we aren't actually going to pull a stunt where people from 20 to 55 are stuck inside while everyone over 55 gets to wander around freely, right? I guess that's just how things work now. Maybe.

Look, it's pretty obvious by now that you and I aren't going to see eye to eye on this. Not even by a fraction of a percent. I guess we just disagree.

Paul Martinez73 said:You can spread the virus even if you don't have symptoms, totally without realizing it.
For example, you go for a stroll, sit on a park bench, touch the wood with your hands, and then an elderly man walks by later, sits on that same bench, touches it, picks up the virus, and dies.

Besides, I’ve said it several times already: there is no ban on walking or sports. You can go out for a run or take the dog for a walk. Nobody is stopping you from doing almost anything—going to the grocery store, hitting the pharmacy... You can enjoy the outdoors, maybe even take your wife along.

The only thing being asked is for people to act responsibly. If you're out with the dog, keep him on a leash, stay away from crowds, maintain distance, and try not to touch public surfaces. It’s really that simple; nobody is demanding you be locked in your house 24/7 without seeing sunlight.

But you contrarians have convinced yourselves that people are actually demanding that, so you've started stirring up panic. You could even host a BBQ in your own backyard with the family—maybe some ribs or a roast. The only catch is keeping it to the family so twenty neighbors don't show up. Or you can grab the kid and play ball in the yard; as long as the field doesn't suddenly get swarmed by 200 other people, nobody is going to bother you. Just throw on some disposable gloves just in case, and you're good to go.

Of course, there are plenty of idiot cops, just like everywhere else and in all times, who will try to flex their authority. But you just explain it to them nicely, or call them what they are right to their face: a bunch of amateur civilian security.

Look, I guess you have to ask yourself who’s actually being more reckless here. Is it the old man, or is it ESPN—assuming they're the ones who just showed up and took a seat on the bench? Maybe it's both, I don't know.

The whole thing with masks and the absolute idiots is just peak comedy.

I went to grab some groceries at the grocery store, and this guy practically breathes down my neck, standing inches away. Of course, he’s wearing a mask.

So I tell him, "Your mask doesn't mean much if you're still crowding everyone."

And he snaps back, "I've got mine on, so why don't you get one too and stop worrying?"

First off, he clearly doesn't get that the mask is supposed to protect me, not him. Second, he's actually part of the problem because he thinks having a mask makes him invincible, like he's Jesus Christ or something. Third, he couldn't care less if someone else gets sick; he only cares about himself.

Personally, I don't wear a mask. I just keep my distance from people—which, honestly, hasn't been bad for me—I don't touch things unnecessarily, and I follow the rules. Maybe even more than necessary.

I'm not really the type to join in on all this hysteria, but I'll play along until the end. The issue is that so many people don't follow any rules at all, and that's how you end up with a mess.

"I don't believe a word of it! People can call all they want and claim whatever they feel like. I'm losing three hours every single day listening to nothing but hearsay," Maja Grba-Bujević, the director of Emergency Services, snapped at us. We had just called to ask how on earth the paramedics could be refusing to help someone just because they were under a mandatory quarantine order.

Even if she had just grabbed the kid and rushed him to the hospital, the media and everyone else would have torn her apart.

Honestly, I’m kind of surprised she managed to walk away without taking him herself.

Paul Sanders5 said:And what are they supposed to do with people who barely have any symptoms? There's nothing for them to do in the hospital; they’d just be taking up beds, and honestly, they might even catch something else while they're there.🤣 It’s better if they just stay home and sweat out the fever.

It's the perfect way to manipulate the stats so it looks like infections are low, even when everyone is actually falling sick. And boom—there's your excuse to extend the quarantine and lean even harder into this police state nonsense.☕

That's pretty much it. Every single one of your points sounds like something straight out of Njegoš.

But then again,

the government shut everything down because of Coron, the women are calling for help, and these guys are just saying, "you sound fine to me."🤣

Meanwhile, there are barricades on the roads. And spikes.🙏

Alright, so where am I supposed to go if I want to isolate?

I live with my wife in an apartment. How are we supposed to socially distance?

We don't own any other property, so there's nowhere else to run. It's just this apartment, and that's it.

I guess it's probably the same situation for 90% of Americans.

God knows how we're going to manage.

I see the head of HOK is pushing to temporarily suspend labor laws—apparently, having to actually pay people and respect their rights is too much of a burden during a crisis. Of course, he’s also eyeing collective bargaining agreements for removal. Since we're playing the "crisis measures" card, why not just

It looks like there’s some movement regarding the latest economic shifts in America. I guess we're seeing more of those predictable adjustments to the fiscal landscape that everyone keeps talking about. It seems like things are shifting again, though I suspect most people won't be surprised by the outcome. Maybe it's just the way things work now. Everything feels a bit repetitive, honestly.

restlesssurfer97 said:So this whole idea about paying out minimum wages just to force employers to keep their staff on the payroll is honestly just 👋

I mean, think about it—they basically ban you from firing someone, mandate that you keep paying them a minimum wage just so they don't lose their job, yet they won't even touch the payroll taxes, which you still have to cough up for three months straight. They aren't getting rid of those costs at all.

Sure, you could probably sell this nonsense to the average sheep who blindly votes for the Republican Party thieves, but there’s no way you can pitch this to a real entrepreneur who’s been loyal to their employees for years.

In reality, a worker and a business owner would just sit down, agree on a termination, the worker heads over to the unemployment office to collect 60% of their pay for three months, and the employer doesn't end up stuck paying any extra taxes.

But no, instead, Aladrovic cooked up this scheme to screw over both the boss and the employee by setting the minimum wage payout at $3,250.

Total idiots.

The fantastic Horvat & Aladrovic duo, the geniuses who are supposedly going to pull us out of this massive economic crisis... 👋

And now they're cutting unemployment benefits too. 👋

This is what really gets to me about all this COVID-19 panic. I get being cautious about a new virus—I’m careful myself, wearing gloves and using hand sanitizer and all that. But it’s just hard to wrap my head around how we can get these kinds of results instantly for something like the flu, yet I don't remember any kind of mass panic ever happening before.

Austria is seeing a massive spike in flu cases right now. Over 700 people are currently hospitalized, and apparently, young adults are getting hit the hardest. I guess things are just spiraling.

It looks like things aren't looking great for the younger generation in Austria. I was reading about how the youth there are feeling pretty hopeless about their future, mostly because they feel like they’re being squeezed by economic pressures and political stagnation. It’s that same old story where the people who are supposed to be building the future feel like they have no stake in it. Maybe it's just how things work now, but it seems like the gap between what young people expect from life and what they actually get is widening. I guess we'll see if anything actually changes, or if this is just the new normal for them.

Hospitals are hitting their breaking point due to the flu season. Over at the Mayo Clinic, they’ve actually started banning all visitors.

I guess it’s just another case of numbers not adding up to reality. They're reporting that there were over 2,000 visitors, but looking at the actual turnout, that feels like a massive stretch. Maybe they're counting every single person who walked past the entrance, or maybe the math is just being massaged to make the event look more successful than it actually was. It's hard to take these official figures seriously when you see the empty spaces for yourself. Just seems like typical fluff to keep the stakeholders happy.
Ten patients at the Mayo Clinic passed away from flu complications. I guess things are getting pretty grim.

It looks like things are getting messy again. According to the latest reports, there's some serious tension brewing over how the government is handling the current situation. I guess you could say the political landscape is looking pretty bleak right now. There’s a lot of finger-pointing happening in the halls of US Congress, and honestly, it feels like we've seen this movie before. People are frustrated, and frankly, I can't say I blame them. It seems like nobody can agree on a path forward, which just leaves everyone stuck in limbo. Maybe it'll settle down soon, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Flu season is hitting hard, and hospitals are already running low on ventilators. They’re expecting thousands more cases to roll in soon.

It looks like the numbers are starting to climb again. I guess we’re seeing a rise in the number of people getting sick, which isn't exactly surprising given how things have been lately. Maybe it's just the way things go, but it feels like we're constantly bracing for the next wave. It’s pretty much what you'd expect at this stage.

Hey, regarding the testing situation and this whole marriage thing that's lasted 70 years...

So, if you have mild symptoms, they basically just send you home, if I understood that correctly.

But now, say you actually go to get tested, show up with symptoms, and they tell you you're positive... what then? You're stuck at home for maybe 30 days until you can produce two negative tests. You risk $2.75 fines if you get caught outside, and you might lose your job too.

On the other hand, you could just stay home for a few days and nobody would ever know if the symptoms are light enough. You'd be out of isolation way sooner than those people who were actually exposed and forced into quarantine.

Honestly, why would anyone even bother getting tested unless they were panicking or feeling seriously ill? 🤷

At the end of the day, maybe the symptoms are just so minor that you don't even believe you're sick. A little sniffle here, a cough there, and so what? 🤷

The emergency task force has shut down absolutely everything. There’s nothing left in this country. If you want to drive to another city for a funeral, you can't go without some official stamp. Want to leave the country? Not happening. Thinking about hitting the grocery store at 7 PM? Forget it. Trying to pay bills at the post office? No mask, no entry. You want to fly into the US from _______ without being quarantined? Impossible (unless you're coming from Belgium, ha ha).

And then that same damn task force tells us not to call 911 or anything unless it's an absolute emergency. They’ve basically created a situation where it looks like people are dropping like flies on every street corner, yet they tell you not to call unless you're literally dying.

Congrats.

Did we set up a sniper near the point at Murter?

Can't move without a sniper.
btw, they might as well station snipers on Murter island too.

these guys are a bit sharp.
