Monitor buying guide (mega-thread) in Computer Peripherals ·
Does anyone have any advice on what to look for when picking out a budget monitor up to $333? Things like panel type or response time?

I'm looking for some recommendations for a standard monitor that would work well for gaming. Ideally, I'd like something in the 22 to 24-inch range with a really low response time. $333 I currently have a Dell 21.5, but I'm running into some ghosting issues during gameplay. I'm also seeing a greenish tint in darker areas, which is likely due to the 12 ms response time on this monitor.
Heart issues/cardiac concerns in Health ·
I dealt with a high heart rate about three years ago. They didn't find any underlying medical issues, so it was likely just driven by anxiety and panic attacks. Since then, I've been taking Bisoprolol 2.5 mg, which keeps my pulse steady between 60 and 80. There have been times when I forgot a dose, and honestly, nothing happened. You aren't going to drop dead from missing a pill if you don't have a serious heart condition.

It might be time for me to see a cardiologist, though, since I haven't had a checkup in three years. I've just been following the instructions I was given on day one.🙄 I might even be taking this unnecessarily now that I'm feeling fine.

I found a shop online. They offer both a warranty and a return policy.

So, when I'm shopping, I just need to make sure it's an LGA 1155 socket, right?

Is there actually any difference if I run a processor without a dedicated graphics card versus using one, assuming I already own a GPU?

I assume I would also need to pick up a new CPU cooler along with this, right? Also, I am currently running an EVGA 600W power supply; would that be sufficient for this processor?

Hey everyone, I'm looking to swap out my old processor for something a bit more powerful... so here's my question..
I have an ASUS H61M-K (Mini-ITX) motherboard; the box says it supports 3rd gen Intel Core processors.
Right now, I've got an Intel Core i3-2100 dual-core inside. I was wondering if I could find a used quad-core on eBay that would actually work in this setup?

I don't really know much about this stuff, so I'm not sure which specific model fits my socket.🙄
I just had my cholesterol checked and the numbers are slightly elevated. Does anyone know if this is something to worry about or if it'll settle down on its own? Total cholesterol 5.2 (limit is up to 5), LDL 3.7 (limit is under 3), HDL 0.93 (should be over 1), triglycerides 1.11 (limit is 1.7).

Everything is sorted out now, works like a charm! 😁

True, I just hooked everything up exactly how the old power supply had it—those 20 and 4 pin connectors were plugged into the hard drive and that was it. Nothing else was connected, I promise.

EDIT: Haha, my bad... crimsonstag84, thanks for clearing that up for me.🙂 I was trying to force that 4-pin connector in instead of using the 4+4 setup...

EDIT 2: One more quick question... there are 24 pins on the motherboard. Should I just plug in the 20-pin one, or should I connect that extra 4-pin too? It seems to run fine with just the 20-pin plugged in... I'm not quite sure what those extra 4 pins are actually for.

Wait a second... is it enough to just plug in the small 4-pin connector and the large 20-pin one to get the PC running? I'm worried I might mess this up. So, I have a 24-pin slot, but I only plugged in the 20-pin part, leaving those 4 pins free... and then I plugged in the little one too. It won't show any signs of life. It’s weird because instead of 20 wires, there are only 19; one hole is just empty without a wire.

I'm running into a major issue. I just installed a brand-new power supply, but when I plug it in, there's absolutely no sign of life. The CPU fan spins for maybe half a second and then everything just dies. To make matters worse, I swapped my old power supply back in, and I'm getting the exact same result. It's like the computer won't even attempt to boot up.

Haha, I think I'll pick something up soon. As long as they give me a solid 2-3 year warranty, I'm happy. I'll head out and check around town to see what's available.

I'm originally from Pittsburgh, so I think I'll hit up a few more local shops around here to see what's on the shelves..
As for this MS unit, it actually started humming along perfectly again after I took it apart and blew out all the dust....it's running fine now..
Honestly, people just spooked me by claiming this power supply is total junk. They kept saying it's a miracle it even lasted three years and warned me that if it pops, it'll fry my entire rig..

I was actually planning on handing that rig over to my parents once I upgrade to a new one, so I’d end up needing to buy a power supply again anyway..
I'll figure it out, I'll find something.. anyway, thanks for all the help.

Timothy Kim60 said:It beats Microsoft, but honestly, just toss in another $100$50 and grab an NVIDIA GTX 430, or maybe a 450w unit with a 5-year warranty (you can find them cheap downtown)

Look, I know you can get a top-tier power supply for $350$133...but that's more for when I build my next rig.
Right now, I just need something to limp along for another year until I upgrade.
This Microsoft one seems fine, though it made a weird chirping sound a few days ago. It's acting normal now, but I'm worried it might just die on me.🙄
