Anyone seen Hesher (2010)? in Movies ·

Well, it’s because Metallica actually gave them the exclusive rights to use it! They also let them use their music in the film, which—honestly—is something they almost never do for anyone else.

Here’s J. g. Levitt talking all about it (man, he is just such a gem 😍)

It took me forever to track down a decent copy of this movie, I have no idea why, so I'm putting it right at the very top of my super short list of best movies from 2011.

It's great. Like Natalie mentioned before, the movie is just packed with emotion, but somehow it completely avoids being sappy, which I guess is pretty rare these days.

I mean, why do you even need to show gallons of blood? Personally, I think suggestion is way more powerful than just showing everything directly on screen. It’s not necessarily "shocking," but it leaves a much deeper impression on you, I guess.
Plus, the movie is actually really well thought out. Like, why does the opening scene start with the father? Why is it specifically the first scene where we see parents, and also the only scene where any kind of parents are shown at all? It's because EVERYTHING starts with the parents—it all goes back to how you were raised at home...
There isn't anything inherently special or overly dramatic about the final day of these kids' lives. And honestly, why would there be? It was just a totally normal day at their high school.

Best,

(I just realized when this post was originally written 🤦, but oh well, signature, right?)
