Gary Palmer8 said:And hey—when a team has their own dedicated tire supplier in F1, staying at the top and fighting for titles isn't exactly rocket science... just look at what happened to Renault after Michelin left... they were absolutely crushing it alongside McLaren the year before.

Well, even if we grant you that point,

how does that explain why Toyota remains so inefficient, especially considering they've been pouring twice as much money into car development as Renault has for years now?

I think you might have missed my underlying point. My argument is that even when Toyota manages to land among the three fastest cars on the grid, they still can't seem to pull off any significant results.

It’s honestly quite disheartening.
Headline in the Sun

Button wins Australian GP

It’s almost as if the folks over at the Sun think it’s somehow their fault that Button managed to take the win.

I don't think I've ever seen a headline more aggressively conservative than this one. 😍😲
fadedpanther4 said:That's exactly why they ended up where they did... 😬

I really don't see why you felt the need to say that to him 😁
mistybear87 said:Yeah, 😢

If you're looking for some kind of sign, just know I spent years pulling for Williams Racing, but clearly, my loyalty didn't change the outcome. 🤷
stormybadger8 said:Not sure why I would be. They had a total meltdown during the race, just like Red Bull Racing, and even Toyota struggled big time. Realistically, right now the power rankings look like this:

unknown and Toyota, somewhere in that bracket
Red Bull Racing and Williams Racing, somewhere there
Ferrari
unknown
everyone else☕

Assuming the FIA doesn't hand out penalties and everyone actually finishes the race—even Ferrari isn't looking at points, let alone the rest of the field.☕

As for Renault, they seem fast only when compared to Force India, though if 😁

The only small comfort is that the gaps aren't massive yet, and I suspect we'll hear the same old arguments about how the season is "just getting started" once things start moving along, much like what we saw last year.
mistybear87 said:Yeah, that was certainly an interesting sight.
I'd venture to guess the cables just snapped. I mean, seeing Sebastian Vettel dragging that tire such a long distance before Nick Heidfeld ended up pinning it against the wall... it really looked like the tethers gave way.🤷

mistybear87, are you feeling a bit let down by how Williams Racing performed, especially after they looked so promising during the practice sessions?
Gary Palmer8 said:I was just pointing out how some Renault fan was calling Toyota losers—but let’s be real, once their big star left, Renault basically fell off a cliff. It really shows you exactly who the real engine behind all that success was—anyone who actually keeps up with Formula 1 should be able to see that! 😉

Don't be ridiculous. 🙏

Renault is a true institution in Formula 1.

It feels like Toyota is just waiting for that one breakthrough moment, that single opportunity to finally step up and claim a victory. It’s like watching a seasoned athlete who has all the technical skill in the world but is still searching for that elusive championship win to prove everything was worth the grind. They have the foundation, but they need that spark to actually secure something tangible. ☕

I called them losers, and honestly, I stand by it. It’s just hard to watch when you consider they’re currently driving a car that practically demands to be at the front of the pack, yet here we are—they're nowhere to be found. 🙏
Gary Palmer8 said:still better than Renault... plus they don't even have their own tire supplier 👍

Look, friends, come talk to me once Toyota manages to snatch two championship titles from them.

Give me a break.

I mean, they haven't even managed to secure a single race win yet.😍
I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole Toyota situation

honestly, they're just total losers🤣🤣🤣🤣
fadedpanther4 said:Come on, be serious. 😛
That wheel was wobbling like it was barely hanging on by a thread. And I think Vettel was being a bit naive if he actually believed he could make it onto the podium like that.😬

ever since "naive" became just another polite way of saying "clueless." 😁

It’s hardly a shock that Nick Heidfeld was struggling😢

image

He had his own fair share of issues right at the start

And since it wasn't Fernando Alonso on the side, Blažičko was busy bringing up Nelson Piquet on the grass😕

Man, Brawn GP is built like a tank😲

image

A totally clean situation. They would've been handing out penalties for this stuff last year

Exactly, that was Alonso, yet Blazicko kept insisting it was Piquet
Rebecca Thomas5 said:did you ever stop to realize that Brawn actually managed to snag more points in just one race—we're talking 18 here—than they hauled in during the entire previous season combined... which was only 14... and Jenson is right there with them too

Honestly, I’m ready to put some money down right now that they won't manage to pick up another 18 points before the season wraps up.🙏
Alonso on the Hybrid Drive System

To be honest, I didn't really notice much of an impact from the Hybrid Drive System, and I found myself feeling a tad let down by its overall performance
John Bennett4 said:Look, man, Hamilton just drove his own race. It's much easier to swallow it as "just Hamilton being lucky" than to actually face the reality of the situation and admit: yeah, Ferrari messed up again, Kimi hit the wall yet again, Sebastian Vettel was an idiot, and so on and so forth... you can just fill in the blanks yourselves. 🤷

At the end of the day, the points are what matter. 🙏

Take Fernando Alonso—he finished fourth through no fault of his own.

He overtook twice during the race and got overtaken three times. 😁

But once Renault actually finds their rhythm around October 20th, man, everyone is going to be in for a massive wake-up call. 🙏
driftingbison4 said:Wait, did you even watch the race? They all finished under the Safety Car. 😂

wearyraven41,

he's just pulling your leg. 😍
John Bennett4 said:Honestly, what kind of nonsense is this? It’s actually getting a bit repulsive to see people tearing down Lewis Hamilton like this... I mean, his only "crime" is probably having more than two brain cells to rub together—he's clearly smart enough to avoid slamming into a wall or spinning out like some of those drunk drivers you see on the news

Up until yesterday, half the Ferrari fans were practically salivating at the thought of Lewis Hamilton jumping into an uncompetitive car just to see if he could finally shake things up. But today? Suddenly it's all about luck. Seriously, kudos to you guys and your incredibly flexible standards. He managed to drag a total junker of a car onto the podium, and if you have a problem with that, then honestly, just go deal with it yourselves

Look, Lewis Hamilton is pure class. Anyone saying otherwise is clearly just a drunk.🙏
Donna Nelson23 said:My take? He probably didn't keep those brakes at the right temperature during the safety car period, so they just... lost it on him.

It wasn't a brake issue at all, 😁

you could clearly see how composed he was; while everyone else was driving like they were in a frantic street race, he was just cruising perfectly straight.

He probably looked around wondering what kind of chaotic qualifying session everyone else was having while they were busy weaving through the turns like maniacs.😍
velvetdrifter15 said:Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Alonso grabs a podium spot by tomorrow! haha

Man, that KERS magic really is something else. 🙏
Frank Collins85 said:Which one would you even pick? Honestly, everything will eventually balance out once they either ban diffusers entirely or officially legalize them. If they go the latter route, everyone will start using them, and then we’ll finally see who actually has the fastest car....

Kimi Raikkonen is easily the fastest man on this planet.

He's so quick he probably thinks he could drive straight through a brick wall.🙏
So, does that mean Alonso comes in fifth? 😁

Man, we really have some serious momentum here. It’s impressive how much ground we're gaining after a race like that. 👋
