@Richard Cook2
Look, I totally get where you're coming from. I know these facilities aren't all high-tech, sterile laboratories or anything, but even if there were tiny traces of something else floating around (though I'm pretty skeptical about that), we're talking about tons of whey moving through these plants every single day. It seems almost impossible for enough of some random ingredient to end up in one single tub to actually trigger a reaction.🤷
So, if that's the case, why is everyone hanging out here? Why even have this thread? I figured it was because people want to swap stories, share what they've learned, or maybe pick the brain of someone who's already dealt with it. That’s why I asked.
And, honestly, everyone else has been way more polite and patient with me than I was with you.
rustyowl4 said:Honestly, I just can't wrap my head around how there would be enough of it to actually hurt anyone. It feels like this whole debate popped up out of nowhere, too. Like, if the person who started the thread already knows the answer, why even ask the question in the first place? 🙄
It’s an interesting conversation, though, especially since it touches on protein options for people living gluten-free. But, you know, if you're looking to jump into a discussion like this, it might be worth brushing up a little on how Celiac disease actually works.
rustyowl4 said:It’s obviously not just made of whey, but gluten is strictly found in grains—and let's be honest, junk food too, though I don't really count that—so at the end of the day, there’s no way it could be in whey. (It isn't in soy, either)
Yeah, well, some manufacturers toss that label on there just for show, you know? Like a little marketing gimmick. It's like they're saying, "Hey, our protein is gluten-free while all the other brands aren't, so buy ours instead!"👍
But look, having a gluten allergy or an intolerance is a massive deal. People aren't just falling for marketing stunts when it comes to their health. If someone deals with Celiac disease, or even just a mild sensitivity like I do, they aren't playing games or taking unnecessary risks! Luckily, my case isn't the severe kind, but I know people who deal with the heavy stuff, and believe me, they aren't touching anything that doesn't come with a solid guarantee that it's gluten-free!
Richard Cook2 already covered everything so there's no point in me repeating myself...
I’m not even going to touch those Google suggestions, honestly, it's just redundant at this point.
slydriver52 — look, I already thanked you for trying to help and I really do appreciate the effort, but I genuinely don't get why you're being so pushy about it.
Then you have the others, like that one person acting all high and mighty—if you can't grasp that someone is looking for actual experience, like getting advice from a person who knows more than a search engine, then what am I even supposed to say to you? And then that same person tells me it's enough to just type in "whey protein" 🙄
It’s honestly ridiculous that we’re even having this same debate over and over here!
Thanks for offering to help me out, regardless of 🙂
Let’s just hit the reset button here. Even though I actually found what I was looking for, so this calm vibe isn't some play for a discount or anything. I just really don't want to get into a big old argument on this forum 🙂
First off, I'm a woman
Secondly, I specifically asked for protein powder tailored for women
Thirdly, I can't touch gluten, which is why I requested gluten-free options
I honestly thought there might be a bit more expertise regarding protein powders here, but I've realized that isn't quite the case. Or rather, you know your stuff, but only strictly what you personally use—nothing beyond that bubble. You have to understand, once you told me that soy might or might not contain gluten, it became clear you aren't an expert on gluten itself. And if that's the case, you can't really offer solid advice on gluten-free proteins, right?
And that second bit of "advice" I got was basically just to Google it :?! (and no, I'm not talking about you)
Look, I know how to use Google, but the whole reason I'm asking here is because I figured someone might actually know better than a search engine!
slydriver52 said:I think I saw somewhere that they exist, but honestly, it was all just "so-called" stuff, kind of like how I phrased it.
briskjackal5 said:Yeah—your best bet is to just Google those numbers and then give two or three major protein distributors here in the States a call.

Well, aren't you guys some kind of experts...🤣
And no, soy doesn't have gluten. Soy, in its pure form—it's gluten-free.
soy is actually gluten-free...
Alright, let's throw a little question out there just to see how much you guys actually know about proteins...
I'm looking for some gluten-free protein options for my wife—she's currently in a cutting phase—and I really want something unflavored. I'm trying to steer clear of all those artificial sweeteners and fake flavors you find in everything these days.
Anyone have any good ideas?
