You know that movie about the bloodthirsty stray dogs. I can't forget that opening scene where they break into the house and tear an old man's face apart. It feels like a lifetime ago, back when the US was actually producing horror movies at a decent clip. Nowadays, I don't hear anyone even mention it, let alone cite it as a classic or a solid example of the genre. And seeing it on TV? Forget about it. What gives? Is the film just mediocre, or is it simply getting too old, much like Evil Dead... Maybe my memory is just being too kind to it...😕 Surely someone here has actually sat through that movie...
I watched the movie, but I wasn't exactly blown away—it was just your typical, sugary romance, and it certainly didn't change my life (what a massive letdown). His original films, Delicatessen and the city of a lost child, are much better...
Is it George Lucas and his Phantom Menace? Or is it Oliver Stone and his version of a "horror" story—aside from Alexander the Great—featuring Michael Caine? 🙄
And what about John Woo? Think about his track record: Hard Boiled, The Killer, Face/Off... Now he’s hit a new low with "Payback" and this announcement about making an X-Men film. I loved that animated series growing up, but who's actually going to care about that nowadays? 😕 😲
Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds. I found the film deeply disappointing. It’s a mountain of special effects masking a shallow, overly sentimental family drama. I never thought I'd say this, but I'd honestly rather sit through Will Smith being irritating in Independence Day than watch another minute of this...
I have to admit, I got a good laugh out of those two Scary Movie sequels. That said, they are absolutely packed with unnecessary, mindless gags—ranging from mocking some idiot character to that bit with the trans person's anatomy (honestly, just uncomfortable)... The second one felt tedious, almost a carbon copy of the first. As for the third installment, based on the trailer, I’ll be skipping it. It might be funny the first time a fool slams into a bedside lamp, but after that?... But man, that scene where the guy outside the car smashes a beehive into someone's head, while someone else is stomping on the girl smoking next to the driver... pure gold... 😂 😂
I’ve noticed nobody has brought up Robert De Niro’s incredible performance in Taxi Driver. Specifically that scene where he takes out the pimp and his crew to save that young girl. Then there’s Rage, or maybe it was Raging Bull—it’s been a while since I sat through that one... But honestly, the only Al Pacino film that actually works for me is Dog Afternoon...👍
vihorsthename says: I assume you haven't seen De Niro's performance as the villain in 'Angel Heart'.
Jesus, how could I have forgotten that masterpiece? 👍 👍 I watched it as a kid, then revisited it twenty years later—it hit much harder and felt even better the second time. It’s easily one of the best occult thrillers ever made with a killer twist, and honestly, my favorite film featuring Mickey Rourke. 👍 👍
I have to admit, Al Pacino was outstanding in the masterpiece *The Devil's Advocate*, but I actually thought Robert De Niro was even better in Leonov’s *Once Upon a Time in America* alongside James Woods.😁 👍
Isn't it enough that we already have idiots like Jackass? As if I didn't need Tom Green added to the mix... These people belong in an asylum for life.👎
I find Robert De Niro to be superior to Al Pacino, particularly in Michael Mann's absolute masterpiece, Heat (and I rarely use the word masterpiece, so take that as a compliment). Then there's Taxi Driver—that sequence where he takes out the pimp and his associates to save the young girl is just peak cinema. I simply enjoy watching him more than Al Pacino, even if Al Pacino was admittedly excellent in Dog Day Afternoon. 👍
You’re better off reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy instead. In that story, aliens basically wreck the planet just because it was sitting in the way of their new interstellar highway. Honestly, I can't help but think it sounds a lot like our own government and how things work here in America...🙄
