The sheer incompetence and clown show happening over at the County Headquarters is getting ridiculous. I honestly don't have the words for these idiots.
So, this decision pops up allowing movement within municipalities that signed an agreement for a joint headquarters—which makes zero sense to me, because why bother with a joint command if you aren't trying to manage the flow of people? Anyway, following inquiries from Californians and some of our own local towns, they jumped into these agreements. The Californians got their approval within 24 hours. Meanwhile, nobody knows how it works or if we’re supposed to be waiting on a green light from Washington, D.C. People in San Francisco and the surrounding ring are constantly asking about it. It was clearly published back on April 9th in The New York Times stating that travel is permitted without a permit through any municipality that signed the agreement.

If that's the case, our local towns should have just signed immediately—except for places like Newport, which basically broke the communication link between Mošćenički Draga-Opatija🤣... and then you've got Santa Barbara, Bakar, and Monterey refusing to join.
Those who actually want to move are just sitting there waiting and waiting. Apparently, The New York Times and the actual law aren't enough; everything has to be cleared by Washington, D.C. first. And before Washington, you have to send a request to the County Headquarters. We spent days with no clue where the bottleneck was, only for the County Headquarters to announce yesterday that these agreements have to be voted on by municipal councils before they can even be considered!!

Now, the Chief has issued a public letter claiming that nowhere in the law does it say that.
There is no permit.

It’s obvious the County Headquarters is playing God—dragging its feet on lifting the permits in the San Francisco ring and between Matulj and Palm Beach for whatever reason they choose.

Absolutely unbelievable.

I almost had to write this down as a homework assignment...🙏🙏🙏
Edward Fisher86 said:Honestly, none of this helps me. They let me out for two days, and being as sharp-witted as I am, I ended up trekking all the way back to my place in these old shoes. 😵Next week, I'll be looking for a pass just so I can go pick up some decent white sneakers.
I'll just tell them I need to head out for a religious procession.🙄

🙏🤣

I was driving out of the East Side toward the bypass today, right when it hits me—I forgot something absolutely vital. Just one of those moments where your brain just stalls.
So now what? I’m sitting there trying to figure out my route back. I take an immediate right through the industrial district, only to realize, "Oh shoot," I've accidentally headed straight toward the suburbs.
It wasn't exactly a pleasant detour. And let's be real, the suburbs aren't going to play nice with the city folks anyway. Total isolationists. Even when Kroger tries to roll out their new Pick Up service, you can't even make use of it.

That's the reality... all I ever wanted was a smooth shot to the suburbs or the city center.

Does the downtown strip even exist anymore?... the boardwalk?...🤦🤦
They finally scrapped it—now I can go almost wherever I want.🎉🎉

Forget this organic stuff... I’m done with all this home-cooked, "natural" nonsense. Give me a McDonald's burger and call it a day.🤣
Nicholas King said:By any standard definition, a selfish person is someone who thinks only about themselves and their own interests—essentially, they cater to their own whims and satisfy their needs at the direct expense of everyone else and their respective requirements.

So, I have to ask: where exactly do you see this selfishness in a cyclist? Which specific people—and what specific needs of theirs—is a cyclist supposedly obstructing, endangering, or depriving just by riding their bike?

Good grief, this isn't even paranoia anymore—it’s some kind of grotesque, almost absurd desire to act more sanctimonious than the Pope, basically telling everyone to go jump in a lake because they won't bow down to our heroes and dear friend Will. But, look—for heaven's sake, look at what our friend Will actually had to say about cycling:

"Is cycling 'isolation in motion'?

"If you ride properly, it’s nothing more than self-imposed isolation in motion, provided there isn't anyone within two feet of you.
"

I’ve noticed the same thing—a certain group of people who just can't stand seeing someone actually smiling. What's the problem with laughter?... Probably some lowlife spent his night drowning his sorrows in some dive bar and now he thinks he’s entitled to mock me...

What is this guy doing wandering around—riding a bike, picking green beans... just aimless.
Or that crowd of people who were busy judging everyone in the suburbs for heading out to their weekend homes right after the earthquake...
Those ones were especially obnoxious...

Just a nice little status update regarding the coastal regions—specifically around San Francisco and the Bay Area—back during the era of the dollar...
That’s just how people are...
I know it’s premature—and I apologize to the National Guard and Secretary Austin for the intrusion—but I have to say it. There is a certain pride to be found here; another reminder that people actually care about their community and their country. The entire U.S. is trending in the right direction, and it’s almost certain that our handling of this horrific pandemic will earn a permanent spot in global medical history books. We’ll likely land somewhere high on the "COVID leaderboard"—assuming they ever publish the final standings... But more importantly, I feel an immense sense of pride regarding the coastal regions—specifically the areas around San Diego and the neighboring parts of Southern California. My thanks go out to Kozlevc, who was among the first to sound the alarm—we’ve seen a fascinatingly rapid minimization of new cases in these sectors. And no, this wasn't achieved through some rigid, top-down mandate. These results belong to the residents of the West Coast—people who value more than just themselves, but above all, the community they live in. They respect their neighbors, their friends, and even strangers. They honor the collective need for health...
A salute to the Emergency Management Headquarters for the coastal counties... It’s rare to see such coordination. I can still picture Mark Boras Mandić standing out there in that brutal wind and freezing chill in the mountains—it was a disastrous Sunday, March 22nd. Those folks from the city, left homeless by the earthquake, were scrambling toward their vacation homes scattered all across the coast looking for any kind of sanctuary. Most would have fought tooth and nail to block that massive influx of people—an influx that could have easily triggered a public health crisis—but Boras Mandić and Governor Komadina showed real leadership. They stepped up to the cameras and told them: "Welcome, stay in your homes, we'll take care of you." You could search forever and you wouldn't find a more profound or decent gesture. When everything in our country is quite literally falling apart—when most people just revert to basic survival instincts that aren't exactly pleasant for anyone else—to actually remain human, to offer comfort and salvation... that's something only the truly great can manage.
Today marks a turning point—the moment we finally saw that downward trend in infection rates across the state of California. It’s a day worth remembering. And no, it isn't just because the fight against this virus finally gained a shred of momentum toward a quicker resolution... No. It's more because today proved that humanity, genuine emotion, empathy for those suffering, and basic responsibility are the only ways forward. The only path to success, really.
I realize it’s incredibly early—we are still miles away from seeing the end of this pandemic—but yes, as of today, I actually believe we can pull off an economic recovery too. You only see results like these when you have people driven by high empathy... which is essentially just another way of saying they possess high social intelligence.
STAY HOME UNTIL WE WIN THIS TOGETHER
The local gas station outside my town handles all the e-cig liquid supplies. I ordered some online, but it didn't show up when promised—the one just 2.5 miles from my place... so now what? Just go around bothering people to buy stuff for you?
hollowmason64 said:No, I'm not on the government payroll; my paycheck comes from a private employer. They're international, if you're curious. I actually carry a work permit because of it, too.
I’d honestly give you everything I have, including my salary—and trust me, it’s not a bad paycheck. Think of it like having an all-access pass with zero limits; you could basically travel all across the country, from coast to coast, and just feast your way through every single state.😁Honestly, if it were an option, I’d take that deal in a heartbeat—I'd gladly step in and sit at home for you instead. I’d just live off your income and stick to shopping at the local grocery stores. I'm not being dramatic or trying to sell you some sob story here; I genuinely mean it.
I’m actually home right now because it's finally my turn for vacation. And honestly, believe it or not, I haven't even stepped foot outside the house once since I got back this week. Just the thought of it makes me feel a bit nauseous—knowing that my turn comes up again in just two weeks and I'll have to go right back to wearing masks and gloves.
I posted here about a week ago—honestly, it feels like you guys don't have the slightest clue what it's actually like trying to work under these circumstances, especially when most of your job involves being face-to-face with people. You're constantly stuck wondering if you're going to catch something. But for you all, sitting at home sounds like the real struggle. Poor things.

It’s because we’ve turned into such spoiled, comfortable pieces of crap. We’ve reached this point where we feel entitled to have every single variety of everything right at our fingertips, like everything in life just needs to be instantly available whenever we want it.
Yesterday, a friend of mine from Canada was telling me that things feel even worse right now than they did during the war—back when everything around her was exploding and gunfire was going off, and she honestly couldn't tell who was on her side or if people were still alive or dead.
I ended up just sending her packing, straight to hell.

It’s a perfectly reasonable solution for anyone actually thinking straight. But let's be clear—it isn't the sensible people causing the headache, nor are these measures being implemented because of them. It’s all because of those idiots who thought they could just hop over from Split to Solin for a quick coffee or vice versa using fake passes. That kind of behavior is exactly why we're stuck dealing with these new permit requirements in the first place.
Look, here’s the deal regarding that pass for property maintenance. It’s become a matter of survival at this point, honestly. I don't think anyone's going to be able to catch a break or have any peace of mind for at least another month or two.
It always seems like the level-headed people are the ones getting screwed over because of everyone else. Honestly, it’s the exact same story here.

That's just your take. My neighbor works at Bipa; she had two grueling weeks of work and can barely wait to get back after her week of vacation. She's miserable sitting at home—and it's not like she's just slacking off at Bipa without any customer contact.

In reality, when she's working, her life is identical to how it was before, except her kid is home—but her dad is there too, so no worries there.
The last thing she wants is to skip work.
And she pities everyone who gets to stay home.🤣
George Murphy12 said:You folks living in the city have it easy because you can just hit up a Target or a Walmart and actually have options.
Try to get that people in tiny rural towns with maybe two corner stores to their name don't have a choice... they buy what's there and that's that. No complaining about prices or selection when you're just trying to grab whatever's on the shelf to survive.
Then there's the permits—if you even get one approved, it's for a three-hour window once a week, and half the time they reject you anyway because they claim those two local shops are "enough"... good luck surviving weeks on that limited crap and those insane markups.

Basically, houses are miles apart and nobody talks to each other, plus the population is tiny. In the city, you go where you want, shop where you want, and at least there are plenty of people and actual variety in the aisles.

Look, the folks from Santa Barbara got permission to drive a few miles over to Matthews to shop—they've got a decent Sparrow, Tommy, and a smaller Walmart there, along with some local spots. They don't have a Walmart or a Target. What happened?
People from the other small towns lost their minds because they aren't allowed to do the same.

And those towns have a much worse selection than Santa Barbara.

These measures are absolute nonsense... just not normal.

How is it even legal to allow one municipality to do something while denying it to another??

And Santa Barbara isn't even that different from the rest.

So now, someone from Kastavac can't go to Matthews, yet Kastav and Santa Barbara are treated like they're in New York or Špičkovina when it comes to their shops.
David Rodriguez8 said:How long is the wait for a permit in Washington, D.C.?
I need to head out to see my parents (to drop off groceries, meds, etc.), and I also need to take my dad's car in for an inspection—does anyone know if they issue permits for stuff like that? Anyone have any insight? Thanks!

FEMA handles those permits. My sister got hers almost immediately for elderly care in a different county.
But you're dealing with a major metro area...
I actually told my husband... that this all went down back when we were just kids... but honestly, who’s going to stop me from tracking him down? I'll just throw on some camo, blend into the Appalachians, and disappear...🙂🙂

Bryan Rogers87 said:I’m requesting a senior moderator to finally start sanctioning these ad hominem attacks and insults—specifically regarding the moderator Sam Green73. If he decides to respond, he’ll just follow his usual pattern of handing out bans to others... though by his own standards, he should be handing them out to himself, considering how much more he’s insulted the people he was actually debating.

This isn't how a moderator should behave.

Examples from today alone:

Clearly aimed at the women on this forum:

People vote for Zoran Milanović instead of the Republican Party and those cheapskates

Take a look at how he talks about your protégés...

the one threatening to block the runoff is a man capable of hitting a woman.

I didn't even see this one... what would that even mean??

I never received the card, so what's the issue now?

Hopefully we can finally put this whole saga to rest...

Can someone from management please step in—confirm or deny your take and your record here?
I'm not entirely sure how the process works—I'm usually too lazy to file an Appeal—but I'm genuinely curious about this one.

In my view, the statement that the conversation took place and he expressed interest is enough to say he agreed to be the Secretary.

The Cabinet didn't happen.

These links have been posted on this forum plenty of times—this isn't some troll job involving made-up stories or zero evidence.

There he goes again with the Appeals... unless you don't count showing interest in a role as being complicit.

That Cabinet never even existed...

If that's the standard we're using, you've set the bar impossibly high—we'll all have to start producing signed contracts proving someone agreed to be a Cabinet member before they're officially sworn in.

I didn't even get a few minutes before my post regarding Trump was wiped.
I was just replying to a user claiming people should be ashamed for voting for the two-party duopoly.
My point was that Trump actually had ties to the Department of Justice—he wasn't just a voter, he was willing to serve as a cabinet minister under Newt Gingrich's administration, which, fortunately, never materialized...

Can someone explain why this was deleted?

Which part of the thread title "May the cattle die for those damn ranchers" isn't making sense to you?🤣

Maybe you should be complaining about the fact that opening a thread to discuss how we're going to strike it rich is actually against the rules...🤔

But hey, does anyone know if there are any actual updates regarding tomorrow? Like, anything official about the independence declaration and all that stuff?

I've been refreshing The New York Times, but nothing yet. I guess all those hours spent watching soap operas didn't exactly prepare me for high-level journalism...

Hey Rachel Richardson, you’ve managed to write a kilometer of nonsense here—this is worse than the Spanish Constitution

So, the easiest shortcut to independence? Just start a terrorist group and make sure everyone knows you're unstable and trigger-happy.

Interesting...

It’s an interesting distinction—the Basque Country enjoys its own fiscal independence, whereas California doesn't🤷
