Mine was two weeks late—it helped a bit with the exam stress and all the sleep deprivation, but overall, just like my doctor said... my hormone levels were kept at some controlled baseline for so long. Now that I've stopped taking it, especially after being on it for a year like me, the body is basically in shock. It's just trying to regulate everything, and it’s going to take a while for those controlled levels to swing back to where they actually belong. 🙂
Regarding the increase in 🙂, I'll report back in a month on how the change from yaz-lindynette20 affected it 😁

Last time I was on the pill, my period came on November 6th and lasted until the 11th. Now? Still waiting. It’s been almost a week late, and honestly, it’s starting to get under my skin a little... In the meantime, I’ve been donating blood—450ml, which isn't exactly nothing—and I've been pretty stressed out over the last two weeks. Could that be why it’s running late, or what...?😕

How do you guys even get your prescriptions filled? Like, I walk in and tell my sister I need a refill—she asks for my name and info, pulls up my file, checks which meds I'm on, and if everything looks good—since apparently you have to redo all those tests after a year or whatever—she just sends it over to the doctor for a signature and I'm out the door in two minutes. 😬
I've been scrolling through the Medicare site—need to extend my coverage since I'm transitioning from high schooler to college student—and I see a bunch of different branch locations listed. Does it actually matter which one I hit up, or is every office specialized for something specific?
When my OB-GYN prescribed them back in December 2010—so, nearly a year ago now—she told me they were basically the latest, most expensive, top-tier option for young women just starting OHCs because of the low hormone dosage. Compared to other pills, they have way fewer hormones but work just as well... without all that extra junk like water retention, cellulite, weight gain, excess hair, vaginal dryness, etc. Anyway, I’m on my 11th or maybe 12th pack by now—not counting exactly—and honestly, I have zero complaints. The first month was rough, felt like being in a constant state of PMS, but once I adjusted, my cycles became almost perfectly timed. Occasionally they run a few hours late due to stress or some heavy-duty antibiotics, but I always hit that third day of the break right when I need to take the third placebo pill.
I actually asked her what the deal was with Yasmin versus Yaz. She wasn't 100% sure, but she figured Yaz was developed from Yasmin specifically by stripping out the components that caused those nasty side effects.
I don't know if that info is still current, but based on my experience—and looking at my 45-year-old mom and my friends who are 17 and 21—those pills are solid.
Btw, since I'm already rambling, does anyone know which ones are covered by Blue Cross? Yaz isn't cheap, so I've been picking it up in Canada through my aunt who works there. Since I'm living at my dorm at college 62 miles and don't head home that often, it's becoming a bit of a hassle, so I'm thinking about switching. I remember reading somewhere that some 4th generation options are actually on the insurance formulary...
Look, your gynecologist definitely knows why they put you on those and why you need them—period. Nobody on this forum is competent enough to tell you whether to take them or skip them. Every pill has potential side effects, obviously, but nobody would prescribe them if they weren't sure they were necessary for your specific situation...
So, which OHC is actually covered under the supplemental list by the SSA here in the States? I’m currently on Yaz, and honestly, it works fine for me—it’s just that the price tag is way over $33. Looking at these other options, they seem to be around 30-$13, which makes for a pretty noticeable difference...
I’ve got a question about birth control pills. So, I was supposed to take the first active pill in my pack around midnight last night—but I totally blanked. I just took the missed one now, though (meaning I haven't even taken today's dose yet, the 2nd pill). Does this mess with my protection if I go back to taking them at midnight every night from here on out and just don't have sex through the end of the week (Friday, Saturday)? Basically, I ended up extending my four-day break by an extra day. Does that significantly impact how protected I am?
When I was going through the same thing, my doctor basically told me she’d rather I just stop drinking booze—but take the antibiotics regardless if things don't start looking up... Better to just give her a call and ask...
I ran into the exact same issue—someone suggested those Yaz pills to me, which run about $33 here in the States. If you have a buddy who can pick them up for you in Europe, they’re maybe just over 9 euros, not even $23 much. They have the lowest hormone concentration, so they’re basically made for younger girls just starting out and all that...
And like you said, the pill is basically killing two birds with one stone. Everything you listed actually cleared up for me—my skin was acting up, and that totally resolved itself. Plus, yeah, there’s a chance your breasts might go up half a cup size. 😁 Birth control works fine as long as you stay consistent; there’s really no reason to freak out or worry about things going wrong if you just follow the instructions.
Prices... hmm. It really depends on which doctor you see. Best bet is to just call ahead and ask how the exam works—what they’ll actually do (getting blood work and a Pap smear would be smart) and ask for a rough estimate on the cost. 🙂
Probably just some enzyme levels—that’s what they sent me over for. 🙂
How often should I be getting my blood work checked if I'm on the pill? I've been taking them for 6 months now... honestly, I haven't had a single issue—actually, some things have even improved—but I'm not looking to play games with my health.
Noah Allen8 said:Hey ladies, 😉 you can basically keep taking them for as long as you need to delay things... if you're going to be at the beach for a week, maybe just take seven pills from the new pack and then take your break... that’s what I’m planning to do myself... because, I guess, as long as you keep taking them, you usually won't get it...
I’ve been using Yaz for a few months now—everything’s been totally fine, no breakthrough bleeding or anything, just standard textbook stuff. It’s my 8th day of the cycle, and I’m probably heading to the beach around day 23... I really don't want to be dealing with my period while I'm away. Question: If I skip the break after day 24 and just start the next pack immediately, how long can I actually guarantee I won't bleed? Like, will it stay away until the end of this second pack, or maybe even before?
Can't get to my OB-GYN right now—so I'm asking here because this is urgent. Six months ago, I started taking Yaz because of polycystic ovaries. I’m not on it currently since I had to have surgery and it was better to pause... but now I need to delay my period, which should start around June 1st based on this cycle. It's day 24 of my cycle today, and I want to know if it's too late to start the pills now to push my period back until after June 10th. Thanks. 🙂
ECG results after a minor car accident. Is this just from the shock, or is it something more serious? They really spooked me—told me once I recover from the concussion and the shock, they need to run more tests just to double-check everything... 😳 Sorry if the quality is bad—I had to take a photo using a webcam because none of the doctors will tell me anything. Apparently, they don't want me worrying or "overreacting." Part one Part two
One part also says sinus tachycardia, rightward Axis.
