Two hundred and fifty bucks?😲 I mean, who wouldn't feel sick to their stomach at that price point? 👎 But look, when you get to the heart of the matter, we all end up in that same position where we'd hand over our very last cent just to stay healthy. The real question is whether you can find what Uglešić is offering anywhere else. I highly doubt he's the only game in town, and it would be absolutely worth looking into whether Blue Cross could cover any part of this cost.
Olivia Bishop8 said:Hey everyone Looks like you guys just hit on weight issues. Exactly what I was looking to get some advice on. I've posted here before, so if anyone has more tips, let me know. I’m the mother of a guy dealing with schizophrenia. He’s been sick for 8 years now. The first couple of years were pretty rough and honestly nasty, but things are better now, luckily. He’s actually had a job for over a year, which helped his mental state a ton. So, that part is mostly handled. But, through all this, he’s put on a massive amount of weight—over 130 pounds. We can't seem to fix it. He does physical labor, but he hasn't lost a single pound. He struggles with binge eating, and it’s messing with his stomach too. He just gulps food down without chewing. Says he can't help it. We heard that Dr. Uglešić runs a clinic where they treat weight issues with injections you have to pay out of pocket every day. Money isn't really an issue for us, at least not for me, but he’s cheap and hates spending it. Plus, the idea of daily shots is a huge hurdle for him. Anyone have experience with this kind of treatment? Any ideas on how to talk him into trying it???
🤔It’ll probably happen before any injections are even involved. Look, I don't know anything about the specific treatment this guy is peddling, but maybe you should just take your son in for a consultation? At the very least, an informational talk might actually motivate him to consider some real way to tackle those extra pounds.

Now they’re stuck playing catch-up with the local private school competition, all while leaving their own classrooms empty during the core subjects.
It is high time the Secretary of Education actually did something meaningful to win parents back—maybe even give them a decent raise to make it worth their while? 🕺
I would love to personally meet this mathematician—this supposed "dedicated educator"—who is expected to run mandatory makeup exams and extra credit sessions right after their regular classes finish. And then, apparently, they’re just supposed to spend the entire night grading finals and prepping lesson plans for the next morning. Do you even have a life, sir or madam? Do you have children? A life outside the classroom?? Oh, wait, I forgot—that’s not how it works. In this country, teaching isn't a profession; it's a holy calling, right? 🙂
By the way, where exactly are the kids supposed to go when these A2 assessments happen and there aren't any scheduled makeups? Is there a specific section of some NASA-grade space shuttle built into our crumbling school buildings reserved just for them? Are we planning to shove them into a boiler room? Because clearly, sunlight and basic human dignity are just too much to ask for.
Raised standards? Are you talking about JPMorgan Chase, the Ministry, and the rest of them? Because under these rules, IT teachers are the ones getting screwed. Even homeroom duties are being lumped into "other tasks." I honestly wonder how many people will actually volunteer for this job now—it’s the kind of work that used to make people want to shoot themselves just to get out of it. Some guy from the Department showed up at the last meeting to answer questions for principals, and when asked who would be teaching the new subject, he just shrugged and said, "Well, IT teachers can do it then." Real smooth. When you ask when music schools will finally get their turn, it feels like they expect us to work a third shift and basically travel to the kids' schools ourselves, rather than the kids coming to us.
At this point, the Secretary doesn't even matter; children are clearly the absolute last priority for these people. I wish they’d just tell us what kind of hallucinogenic trip they were on when they drafted this curriculum. Better yet, send the syllabus over to us so we can fully immerse ourselves in this absolute nebula of nonsense.
Higher salaries? Caring about kids and families? Give me a break. Who the hell are they trying to fool with that garbage?
And here is the kicker: this kind of crap passes through easily, just like everything else happening in this country. And what are we supposed to do? File formal complaints? Too bad, the deadline for that has already passed. They’ll "take it under consideration" while they swallow yet another delusional idea, laughing at the moronic programs they serve us, while the only thing that ever truly matters to them is the money.
Fixing up schools, building gyms, setting up cafeterias? Sure, why not. It’s not like it’s a church. This is a school—a place designed to breed obedient little followers for the Republican Party, brainless drones who will one day enthusiastically circle "YES" without question and suffer a total bout of amnesia every time they need to remember how much they’ve been robbed or lied to. It's a farce.
Which schools would even want to participate in this four-year circus? Based on what I know so far, it’s mostly the ones where the principal is a member of the Republican Party. I suspect there are others, but that’s just my observation thus far.
Antipsychotics, antidepressants, and certain mood stabilizers are probably the biggest culprits when it comes to weight changes. Most of the major antidepressants—like Prozac, Zoloft, or Lexapro—tend to make gaining weight a bit more likely.
Speaking purely from my own decade-plus experience dealing with SSRIs and SNRIs, I’ve only ever seen weight loss. The official prescribing information explicitly states that you could see either weight gain or loss, so honestly, the research and anecdotal evidence are just going to support whatever side you choose to believe. Besides, if someone is battling constant nausea and restlessness, they aren't exactly looking to pack on the pounds; quite the opposite happens.
cosmiclynx79, look—some medications definitely slow down your metabolism (I’m thinking of things like pregabalin, which is frequently prescribed as a psychotropic drug, though not technically an antidepressant), but generally speaking, once a patient starts feeling better and that agitation finally settles down, there's a much higher probability they’ll actually start enjoying food again, just like they’ll start enjoying other parts of life. When it comes to common psychiatric drugs that are notorious for causing weight gain, antidepressants are the main culprits.

That’s quite an unusual combination, if I do say so myself. Usually, the latter tends to walk hand-in-hand with certain clinical markers indicating a neurotic disorder, while schizophrenia sits firmly on the other side of the spectrum. But regardless, let the doctors document what they need to; I know for a fact it isn't easy for you, no matter what those diagnostic numbers look like. At 22, it's certainly the age where these types of disorders tend to come to light. I truly hope you have a solid support system behind you. 🙂

Look, just because you share the same diagnosis doesn't mean you're all clones. 🤷 The guy is dealing with his own reality right now; luckily for you, yours isn't quite like his.
slybison6 said:Let me be crystal clear: this woman’s perception of reality is just completely warped. She’s under the delusion that he’s actually in love with her simply because they text all the time, and she’s out here voluntarily sending him money without him even asking. And what does he do? He blows through it in three nights flat. Personally, I would never touch someone else's money; I always find out about his spending after the fact when he’s out hitting up high-end steakhouses with his buddies. So, nobody is begging her for cash—she’s literally handing it over herself, fully expecting him to dump me and run to her. But guess what? That isn't happening. She is relentless. Honestly, she's acting crazy, but he isn't the one who's out of his mind. He isn't some pathetic loser. I mean, come on, if someone started depositing money into your bank account out of the blue, wouldn't you take it? I'm just stuck thinking about this whole distorted perception thing... I'm not exploiting anyone... at first, I thought the whole situation was kind of funny, but now it's stopped being hilarious and it's just getting sad and, frankly, pretty intense. Part of me thinks it wouldn't be a bad idea if she actually read this thread, maybe then she'd finally see things for what they really are, but I doubt it...
And I am telling you right now: get yourself acquainted with the forum rules. Look, you don't *have* to follow them (unless you have a death wish), but if you choose not to, then you better be prepared to deal with the consequences of breaking the rules.
slybison6 said:I’m posting this here because I’m really trying to wrap my head around what kind of diagnosis we might be looking at in this situation... So, here’s the deal... my boyfriend met this woman about two years ago who, frankly, isn't his type at all—and I don't just mean physically, though she does struggle with severe obesity, a limp, and a stutter. Regardless, she fell head over heels for him instantly and hasn't stopped blowing up his phone ever since. Even after meeting me, she just keeps going, completely relentless. To give you some context—my guy has a bit of a habit of spending money he doesn't really have, and she, thinking she can win him over, has been sending him cash quite generously. He’s actually taking advantage of her infatuation and her totally warped perception of him. It’s wild... like, if he sends her a quick text or even just hits a heart button on a Facebook post, she interprets that as deep romantic interest. It’s like when someone asks you out for coffee without any underlying tension, but they walk away thinking it was a full-on date. We've tried explaining to her multiple times that there is absolutely no chance with him, but nothing sticks, because one little "like" on social media just resets her whole delusion. My boyfriend keeps feeding into it, playing along as long as the money keeps coming, which only deepens this intense fantasy she's living in. She’s completely disconnected from reality... For instance, if she were to look at Brand Ask and Angelina DZ, she’d probably tell herself, "Well, if he can be with her, he can certainly be with me." She has zero self-awareness regarding how she compares to me or the kind of partner my boyfriend actually seeks out. Just one single message from him acts like a blindfold over her eyes. Everyone else avoids her because she’s just so pushy, annoying, and suffocating. Can you imagine how devastating it’ll be when she finally hits a wall and realizes the person she’s obsessed with is avoiding her? But he won't pull away because he’s pitying her while also enjoying the financial perks. Honestly, we used to laugh at her profile pictures whenever she changed them, but now it’s stopped being funny because it's clear she’s genuinely unwell. I know this sounds harsh, but it’s the truth. Can anyone explain what kind of schizophrenia this might be, and more importantly, how should we handle someone like this?
Edit: I honestly think she’s never actually been in a relationship before and has no clue what intimacy actually entails. It seems like she thinks a relationship is just going for walks and hanging out, rather than the reality of sharing a bed, a home, dinners, and everything else that comes with it.
Who cares about the cost of living—let the sea, the sun, and the coast take care of you...
I honestly don't see why everyone is making such a massive ordeal out of this. Why on earth can't you just find work in a place where you actually want to live? The way people talk about it makes it sound like they're being held hostage in a city they absolutely despise. Look, sure, maybe shed a few tears on moving day, but dragging out the misery for months on end is just ridiculous. You move, you adapt, you settle into a new rhythm, and you forge new paths. At the end of the day, life is far too short to spend it compromising your happiness or obsessively overanalyzing a checklist of priorities.
Between my endless to-do lists and these constant, nagging obligations, I feel like I'm constantly under the gun. If there is one thing I want—and I mean any time of year, not just some fleeting New Year's resolution—it is to live with significantly less stress. I’ve spent far too much time losing sight of who I actually am because I was too busy trying to play every single role expected of me, desperately trying to meet everyone else's demands. It was a massive mistake. In this next chapter, I am finally stripping all that away and returning to my true self and my own core essence.

I just really hope the bank doesn't send over one of their own appraisers. Those people would sell your house for peanuts if it meant they could settle their books and move on. The grave is waiting for all of us eventually, so stop stressing about it now.
