Who actually oversees the people in charge? in Politics ·
I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the weird jurisdictional gaps that seem to pop up more often than they should. It feels like every time we get a little bit of clarity on how much oversight certain agencies should have, a new loophole or a "special rule" suddenly appears to push that oversight right back out the door. It’s that constant tug-of-war between local standards and federal authority that makes you wonder if anyone is actually holding the reins.

It honestly reminds me of when I worked in municipal compliance a few years back. We thought we had a solid handle on the safety protocols, only to have a higher-up swoop in and declare that our local audits didn't matter because of some obscure administrative distinction. It felt like the rules were being rewritten in real-time just to avoid accountability. It creates this massive gray area where the people being "managed" are essentially living in a different reality than the rest of the community.

When the people in power can just opt out of the rules everyone else has to follow, where does the accountability actually land? Do you think we're heading toward a future where "special designations" just become a way to bypass local laws entirely?

Does anyone know a solid oncologist who actually knows their stuff when it comes to sarcomas?
I'm basically looking for the absolute best one in the Washington, D.C. area.

I'm on the hunt for a dentist who can actually knock me out 🙂
So, look...
there's a few secondhand spots around town...
here's some options...

plus there's this one right around the corner from Freebird, but I can't remember the name for the life of me...

I guess Freebird is your best bet, then maybe Roxy (even though the guy working there totally bugs me), or Karma...
I personally spent a ton of time buying and selling CDs and vinyl at Karma...

Hopefully that helps everyone out...👍

stormyraven46 said:So, I had my nose done by Dr. Glumicic when I was 17—he’s pretty well-known for this stuff now. Since I was a minor, my parents just had to sign off on everything. The surgery itself took about two hours. Things got a little messy for me, nothing crazy, but I ended up having to keep the nasal packing in way longer than expected. Taking those out only takes a few seconds, but man, it is incredibly uncomfortable. They also left the splint on me for a bit longer than planned. Everything seemed fine afterward, though. I headed home a few hours later and basically slept the entire day away because of the anesthesia. I didn't have any issues with bleeding or anything like that right away. But, I went out after just one week (!!!)... and honestly? Don't do it. My big mistake was constantly picking at the stitches. Seriously, don't do that. Just let everything heal on its own. After a while, I had to go back three more times for hydrocortisone shots—injections right in the nose to get the swelling down completely. And let me tell you, that BOOOOOOOLLY! It hurts like hell. Whatever you do, don't go through that alone. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible. People say it doesn't hurt at all, but that’s a lie. It hurts, but you just gotta tough it out; it’s not the end of the world, and the painkillers definitely help. My main issue now is just this feeling that something changed with my nose since then. I feel like I can see the cartilage a little, even if that's actually totally normal. Maybe I’m just being obsessive about it, who knows? I might even consider doing it again one day. Good luck to everyone else planning to go through with it!!!!

Ugh, injections... man, just thinking about them gives me the chills. Seriously.
Look, I mean, obviously side effects happen. It's just how things work. That's basically the deal with everything, I guess.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·

Just check out their catalog. They've got a huge variety, plus they're basically one of the top nutrition centers globally, so we have access to that here too.😉

Man, answering which protein you need is actually pretty tough. I guess you should probably talk to a pro about what you're planning to do. Depending on your goals and how you'll use them, that person can tell you exactly which type and dose to go for.
Generally, if you're hitting the gym, aim for 2g of protein per kg of muscle mass. If you're just sitting around all day, maybe at least 0.5g per kg. Also, don't sleep on multivitamins. They act as catalysts. If you're missing even one, it's gonna mess with how your body absorbs that protein.
So yeah, without more details, there's no way to give you solid advice.

Wow, you're an idiot!!!
What kind of website is that????
That site is honestly one of the biggest pieces of junk out there!!!

So, I was thinking about this one thing... basically, if you ever end up hanging out with Dr. Zoran Lajtman on Mercury, you can officially stop stressing about how you look. Seriously. You won't have to worry about your appearance anymore. I guess. Maybe.

Just sitting here scrolling through all this absolute garbage my buddies, my friends, my godmother's crew, and whatever other idiots are posting... just total nonsense.
Man, seriously... has anyone else here actually lived through the absolute stupidity that comes with being human? I mean, if you haven't done something completely brainless at least once, are you even real?

Starting something serious before you hit 18 isn't exactly the smartest move. You’re still basically figuring yourself out, and honestly, you never really know what kind of curveballs life is gonna throw at you next.

Look, fat is the least of our worries here. It doesn't actually hurt, and honestly? It’s probably not even going to last that long.

Look, they don't exactly hurt when they come out, but man, they are awkward as hell. Especially if one of them decides to slide right down your throat... that's a bad time.
Man, that mouth-breathing thing is honestly the worst part for the first couple of days. Like, seriously, it’s so irritating at first. I guess you just have to push through it, because after a bit, you eventually get used to it. For me, that first day was definitely the hardest part.

Look, after surgery, staying put for maybe five days is pretty standard. I guess it really just comes down to what you’re actually doing, though. It all depends on your activity level, I suppose.
Honestly, you’re probably better off just staying put...
It hurts a little, I guess, but it’s nothing major. It isn't like that heavy, dull ache that just sits there forever. It’s more of a light, nagging sensation that hits you every now and then, which is honestly what makes it so annoying.

I mean, damn... you wake up after surgery feeling totally wired, but then what? Like, what am I even supposed to do with this now?
I mean, let's be real—I think we've all been wasted more than a few times.😁

I mean, if you actually managed to peel that fake tan off, you’d probably go into total shock just looking in the mirror because your face would look completely different... I guess.
People usually aren't happy right away, I guess, mostly because the swelling hasn't gone down yet.
Then you touch that weird, gross rubbery texture... honestly, just thinking about it makes me feel sick. That was easily my top two worst things.
But then again, it all goes by way too fast... I guess.

All in all.
Honestly, I don't think the result is even that big of a deal. It’s fine...

Look, we need to talk about the actual outcome. How is the doctor even going to pull that off? That’s the big question, and honestly, it’s everything—if you're looking at this from actual experience. Plus, there's the whole thing about how a patient actually builds a connection with their surgeon before they ever step foot in the OR. That matters too, I guess.

Look, if someone is actually that unhappy with their nose, they should just go get it fixed. Seriously. Nobody needs to be afraid of anything. Just do it.
And what about these photos? I mean, what are you guys even looking at? They look pretty damn awful... honestly, they're way beyond just being bad. They're straight-up gruesome.
Trust me, it isn't even half of what they're claiming.

It all pretty much dies down after maybe two or three weeks—you know, those big swelling issues and the extra fat just sort of vanish.
So, look, for the next two or three weeks, you’re basically just gonna be getting used to your new look. Your skin and everything else is slowly gonna start healing up... you know, that whole recovery phase after the finish.
Price is whatever people say it is, I guess. It really just depends on who you ask.

I don't even know what else to tell you guys at this point...
