The Cold Light of Day (2012) in Movies ·
Just caught this on FOX. Henry Cavill is totally unconvincing as the lead. And Bruce Willis? It’s like he’s still stuck in "Die Hard," using those exact same facial expressions throughout. The action is trash, except for that one chase through the streets of Miami trying to catch the villain Corrack. Then you've got Will Shaw just stumbling into this girl who turns out to be his half-sister—something he had zero clue about 🙄—only to end up stitching himself up (not even in a hospital, obviously) after getting shot. On top of that, he gets beaten down, yet somehow he's still fit enough to tear through Miami. Total garbage. 2/10, and that's only because of Sigourney Weaver's action scenes.
Abduction (year : 2011 country) in Movies ·
Watched Bio on TV, mostly just to see my favorite, Sigourney. She barely had any screen time, but honestly, even a cameo from her is worth it since she’s such an incredible actress.

I haven't touched the "Twilight" saga (nor do I plan to), and I've never seen anything featuring Taylor Lautner. But calling his 🤦 "acting" is a joke. What a hack. Lily Collins absolutely outclassed him in every single scene they shared. He’s supposed to be grieving his adoptive parents and suffering because his dad won't call, but his facial expressions? Absolutely criminal.

Even Alfred Molina felt off in this one.

Sure, Nathan is supposed to be some kind of martial arts expert, but some of those scenes were just way too much. Especially that stadium sequence 😵 Plus his "acting" and that pathetic "love story." The movie is okay if you want something to watch, but those things are huge negatives for me.
A Monster Calls in Movies ·
Finally sat down to watch this incredible movie, and man, it really hit me hard. 👍 The way they handled such a heavy story was masterclass—the characters, the acting (S. Weaver is hands down my favorite actress). Visually, it’s stunning, and those animations? Top tier. I haven't actually read the book yet. Having Liam Neeson provide the narration/voice for the monster is a genius move (cool little detail that he also plays Lizzin's father / Conor's grandfather).

The film nails how Conor deals with his family situation, right up until the moment he finally faces the truth—his absolute biggest fear. It explains why he kept asking his grandma, his dad, and the principal "Aren't you going to punish me?" whenever he did something; it wasn't about his actions, it was about the guilt over his own thoughts and feelings that he felt were wrong.

They were both killer in "Dave", and honestly, the chemistry in "The Ice Storm" was top-tier too.

And "A Fish Called Wanda", obviously. 🙂
She was awesome pulling double duty in "Fierce Creatures," which is basically a sequel to "Wanda," even if it didn't hit nearly as hard as the original.

Sigourney Weaver is best known as Ellen Ripley, but she's had plenty of other stellar roles where she absolutely crushed it. 🙂

Happy 68th birthday to my absolute favorite actress. Sigourney Weaver

The Alien franchise has reached for the stars, and while the new generation knows it mostly because of Avatar, I still think there’s an actress in this series who gets way too little credit. At least, that's my take.

She's incredible in everything—dramas, action flicks, comedies, you name it. This one's easily my favorite film. Snow CakoHonestly, she just absolutely crushed that role. There was no contest. Check out this clip from Dazlious. It’s pure Snow Cako.

A little trivia from an IMDb Quote: Alan Rickman read the script and actually suggested Sigourney Weaver for the role of Linda. IMDb
Here’s a little trivia from an IMDb quote: Alan Rickman actually read the script and personally recommended Sigourney Weaver for the role of Linda. He went as far as calling her himself, telling her she absolutely had to check out the script because there was one part he knew she’d nail. It makes sense, though—Rickman and Weaver had already teamed up before in the film Galaxy Quest, where Rickman played a character named Alex.

I’ve always been a huge fan of movies, too. Dave (where she acted alongside my absolute favorite, Kevin Kline) & Imaginary heroes..

Yesterday marked the 82nd birthday of the legendary Julia Andrews. She’s basically an icon, whether you know her from "The Sound of Music" & "Mary Poppins" or if you grew up watching "The Princess Diaries" and "Shrek".

I’ve always been obsessed with the musical "Victor/Victoria", where she starred alongside the late James Garner & Robert Preston, all under the direction of her late husband, Blake Edwards. Honestly, that movie is top-tier. I can rewatch it anytime and it never gets old. 😍

It’s such a shame that back in 1997, she lost her singing voice after a routine vocal cord surgery. 😢 Julia - "Nobody Does It Better"

I remember catching Nash performing with Mike on guitar once. It was one of those smaller venues, but honestly, his vocals were so killer and his setlist was so spot-on that the charisma alone carried the whole room. He even did an encore. Last month, I ran into him while I was visiting New York City and told him he needs to come back and play again—aBd, and this time he better bring the full band with him. ☕

Confused Head | Scientists explain travel sickness: here’s how we trick our brains into thinking we’re poisoned

Traveling makes us nauseous because modern transport tricks the brain into thinking we've been poisoned, according to neuroscientists.

Whether you're in a car, a train, on a boat, or in a plane, you're sending conflicting signals to your brain. This triggers a reaction similar to what happens when someone is poisoned. Dr. Dean Burnett from the University of Cardiff says that nausea kicks in because the brain thinks the body needs to purge toxins by vomiting.

The reality is that your muscles are sending one message to the brain (that the body isn't moving), while your ears are sending another (they feel the movement of the vehicle). Dr. Burnett noted that the human body hasn't evolved enough to handle the sensation of traveling where the body moves without producing its own physical movements.

"When we're in a vehicle like a car, a train, or especially a boat, we aren't actually physically moving ourselves. Your muscles tell you that you're stationary. If you're on a boat looking at a static environment, even your eyes aren't getting information that you're moving. However, the fluid in your ear follows the laws of physics, and it shifts around because you are actually moving. So, the brain receives contradictory messages. It gets signals from the muscles and eyes saying everything is still, but the balance sensors are sending opposite info. In an evolutionary context, the only thing that causes such sensory mismatch is a neurotoxin or poison. That's why the brain thinks it's poisoned, and the first thing it tries to do is get rid of the toxin—by throwing up."

He explained that reading in a car makes the nausea way worse because your eyes are focused on a tiny, static space and aren't sending any signal of movement to the brain at all.

According to this logic, you can lessen the nausea by looking out the window, since that actually shows the brain that you're in motion.

Discussing his new book, 'Brain Idiot: What Your Head Is Actually Doing,' Burnett told the New York Daily News that the brain eventually adapts over the years and gets better at recognizing these subtle signals. Kids are much more prone to motion sickness because their brains are still developing.

There still isn't a definitive answer as to why some people suffer from travel sickness while others don't, but there are plenty of unanswered questions regarding how modern life affects the brain. For instance, jet lag is also a brain reaction to disorientation caused by crossing time zones and shifting day/night cycles.

Jose Ortiz2 said:I saw this motion sickness wristband at a CVS the other day (honestly can't remember the exact brand name right now). When I asked the pharmacist if people actually use them or if they even work, they basically told me they had zero feedback on whether it’s legit or just a gimmick. 🤷 It wasn't even something you could find in local pharmacies around here until recently. 🤷

Jose Ortiz2 said:Found it via Google. It's the Sea-Band.

Found this too:
Acu-strap - motion sickness band

Acu-strap uses acupressure science to help with morning sickness, motion sickness, or nausea following anesthesia or chemo. It works by applying pressure to the Nei-Kuan acupressure point on both wrists. To find that spot, place your three middle fingers on the inside of your wrist so your third finger sits right on the wrist crease. The Nei-Kuan point is just behind your first finger between the two wrist tendons (see pics A and B), which is where the button goes.
You need to wear the bands on both wrists to get results. It can take up to 5 minutes to kick in, and it stays effective as long as you're wearing them. You can boost the effect by pressing directly on the button with your fingers. Acu-strap can be washed in warm water with mild detergent up to 5 times. Once they don't fit snugly against your wrist anymore, toss them and get new ones.

Last year, before a trip, I picked up some of these bands. But I wasn't brave enough to rely on just the bands. 😢 Like always, I brought Rodavan tablets for the nausea and used the bands as a backup.

Same story this year; I still didn't trust the bands alone. 😢

Since even short trips mess me up, maybe I'll try starting with just the bands first to see if they actually do anything.

It used to be that I'd get all worked up before a trip, and just thinking about traveling would make me nauseous.

So I decided to change my mindset. For a while now, I haven't let myself stress about the actual travel, so I stay totally chill before and during the trip.

Now I just need to convince myself that the bands work solo so I can ditch the pills for good.

Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
It’s been almost two weeks now since I started drinking a cup of this tea every single day just to be safe. Biljana/Tea for Every Woman .
Ingredients: yarrow, St. John's Wort, passionflower, calendula, nettle leaf, sage leaf, chamomile flower, peppermint leaf.

jadeangler6 said:I’m 29 years old now, and honestly, I’ve been dealing with agonizing menstrual cramps for as long as I can remember—well, since my first one, anyway. Advil usually does the trick, but over time, I’ve become increasingly paranoid about popping pills constantly, so I’ve been trying everything under the sun to handle this naturally. I actually tried drinking chamomile tea once, but that was a total disaster for me; it completely threw my cycle out of whack and caused all sorts of other side effects. Eventually, a herbalist recommended a Vitex tincture to me. I’ve been taking it for about two months now, and I have to say, it’s actually helping quite a bit. I later stumbled upon some info online explaining that Vitex is essentially chasteberry and that it’s incredibly potent for various women's health issues: http://narodnidoktor.com/vitex-cudes...a-za-plodnost/
A close friend of mine also started using Vitex drops because she was having a hard time conceiving, and she’s already in her third month now. 🙂 Before that, she had seriously tried just about everything imaginable.
So, if you’re looking for it, just ask for Vitex at your local pharmacy.

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question (🙈), but can this actually happen? Like, can teas meant to help with period cramps really mess with your actual cycle (making it late, etc.)? 🤷
Thanks!

I ran into the exact same issue. 😲 My desktop is gone. Nothing left but that one icon. My Computer It keeps popping up. Even after trying that, nothing worked. Task Manager. Use it. It’s the only way to see what’s actually killing your performance.Alright, let's get to work on this new task: explorer.exe. 🙂

I don't know what you're trying to get at here. You haven't actually said anything. If you've got a question or a problem, just spit it out. Stop wasting everyone's time with empty posts. Just Google it. I can't work with just "i". You gotta give me some actual content to work with if you want me to rewrite it. Send over the text and I'll get it done. Just Google it.Got it sorted using this:
I sorted this mess out. I ran into the exact same headache myself. Here’s the play-by-play on how I tackled it.

First, reboot. Then hit F8.
2) Hit "Repair my computer."
3) Pick your language and keyboard layout.
Once you've pulled up those system recovery tools, just hit System Restore.
5) Pick a restore point from back when everything was running smooth, then reboot My Computer.

That's it. I'm done.

If those system restore points aren't there, just run startup repair.

I got into my computer through... Safe mode., System restore. So I clicked that option where the date from this month popped up, hit OK, and that was it. Right after, My Computer just rebooted itself, and finally—thank god—the desktop actually showed up.
