And that pure, unadulterated panic I felt for about five years straight once the teacher decided they were actually going to grade us on that devilish thing. Eventually, I realized I could actually do it—provided someone else was down there holding the damn end. 😲 😁

Even those six minutes felt like an eternity...

But look, if you feel the need to constantly compare consecutive ( 🙂 ) albums, maybe that’s just your thing, because for some people, it doesn't matter at all. And if someone brings it up—even if they frame it as a question—you can't exactly tell them they're being stupid, can you? It's all pretty subjective, so there's no need to be such a 😉

The definitive ranking of burger joints in Boston:

1. John Doe
2. Five Guys
... (?)
Jane Doe

Today's tally: a double cheeseburger with extra cream, plus a hearty beef stew
Yesterday's tally: a double cheeseburger with extra cream followed by another double cheeseburger with extra cream
Back in Small Town, USA: a double cheeseburger with extra cream, and a few slices of various pies

Dead Carrot said:Look, I’m sorry, but it isn’t exactly upbeat 😛

It isn't, sure, but it’s not depressing either. It’s just... wistful. Like that feeling I get when I start thinking back to my elementary school days, before life actually started hitting me.
If someone is looking for something depressing, they can just put on some Cuttooth and jump off a skyscraper, or maybe 🙂

anch_io said:Just because a song has a catchy little melody doesn't mean it's actually a happy tune...

Personally, that shapeless melody, lacking any sort of coherent rhythm, is enough to drive me absolutely insane. I mean, as far as the songwriting goes, the track itself is great, but that structure? It's grating.

gentlepuma20 said:Excuse me? 😲 That’s sad? Honestly, that track is one of those rare moments where life feels actually good—like spring is finally here, the trees are green, and birds are singing songs like they mean it! 😍

You're kidding.

(Seriously though, I just don't get people who find "Thinking About You" depressing)

gentlepuma20 said:(And by the way, it's easily one of Thom's best hits 😍 )

Fair enough...

By the way, if you're actually looking for a genuinely upbeat and optimistic Radiohead song, give Worrywort a listen. It features Orange.
In that song, it really does feel like springtime; the birds are singing, life is sweet, and there's a sense of "such a beautiful day" that isn't wrapped in their usual irony... There's no need to dwell on what might have been; just think about how much fun you're missing out on by overthinking it. 🙂 😉

Ponor said:So, how much is it actually costing, and more importantly, does it actually fill you up? 🙂

Quick update—it arrived $6.00, and yeah, it’s decent enough to satisfy a craving (roughly the size of a decent burger), though I did end up with a bit too little sauce, which I suppose might be my own fault. As for the rest:
  • The meat was solid—CHECK (tastes a little like jerky, some kind of pork situation going on here)
  • Plenty of grease dripping everywhere—CHECK
  • Greasy fingers and a messy mouth—CHECK
  • The price-to-portion ratio is pretty fair, I guess
  • A mountain of sides included—CHECK

Overall rating: 4.25. Worth a shot if you're hungry.

I doubt it, honestly, if you're truly convinced that nobody has any friends left in this world. 🙂

But then again, maybe I am, assuming your name starts with an L and his starts with a G. 😁

gentlepuma20 said:There’s even some fries in there too.

Video. That’s how it goes next time. And that’s how the mild sauce works too. 🙂

gentlepuma20 said:So, how much are we actually looking at here? And more importantly, just how full am I going to feel after I’ve finished eating? 🙂

I think it was maybe twenty bucks, if I recall correctly. It’s enough to grab a decent mid-range meal—nothing fancy that’ll leave you feeling like royalty, but certainly enough to stop that nagging hunger from getting too distracting.
It’s a decent enough choice if you're just looking for an occasional pour, but honestly? It’s a bit too pricey to be your go-to everyday drink.

Memory is such a fickle thing, isn't it? It starts to fade before you even realize it's slipping through your fingers, leaving you grasping at shadows of things you once knew so well. Honestly, I feel like I need to go back and revisit it all just to make sure I haven't lost the thread entirely. Is it just me, or does everything eventually become a blur if you don't make a conscious effort to hold on?

gentlepuma20 said:Yeah, Paprika. How would you rate this gyro compared to what you get in Greece?

How should I know... 🙂
They’re both good, honestly; the quality is definitely there for both. Next time I think I'll go with a mild sauce, because I went with medium today and couldn't really tell how close it was to actual tzatziki—since they don't usually mess around with spicy sauces over in Greece.
The meat was solid, and the pita was top-tier.

As far as presentation goes, this is more of the sit-down restaurant version—and even in Greek spots over there, you get these massive portions meant for sitting down and eating properly.

The default there, though, is usually the snack version, you know? Something smaller that you just grab in a wrap, packed tight with meat sliced right off the spit—not quite as neatly shaped as this, mind you—plus some tzatziki and, all too often, fries. Around here, I saw a similar small-scale version at that Los Angeles Lakers fast food spot in the bottom of the walkway.

Anyway, my rating is 🎉 or rather, a -5. A symbolic deduction for the location and the fact that they don't offer a tiny little version I could grab in a minute and devour like a pig. I could go for three of those.

Thanks again!
I think our high school reunion anniversary is coming up around these dates anyway 🙂 👋 🙂

Ponor said:It’s really not all that great, honestly. That gyro? It just doesn't live up to the hype. 🙂

It’s actually pretty great, isn't it? 👍
Pizza Hut, right?
We managed to miss our turn by a few miles the first time around, but luckily the folks at the gas station knew exactly where we were trying to get. We ended up eating like kings, and honestly, it was fantastic. Some people just really know what they're doing.
Just sending some love from the old crew.

gentlepuma20 said:Alright, here’s how you get to the gyro joint:
"The easiest way is to take the exit from the roundabout heading toward Chicago.
Then just hop off the interstate toward the harbor area.
From there, you basically just drive straight.
Hit the first light.
Pass the second light.
After that second one, take a left about 150 yards out.
That’s where you’ll find it.
Good luck, Samuel Murphy6 🙂

Alright, things aren't moving quite as fast as I’d hoped. 🙂

So, I'm driving toward the suburbs, I take a right where the sign points toward the Port, then at the light, I turn left. And then what? 😁

Man, with this kind of warp convergence happening, I might as well start dropping Google Earth coordinates directly into the thread by tonight.

gentlepuma20 said:I heard there was an orgy involving American high school grads😁

Well, honestly, I don't see it being any better or worse than our own local chaos, especially compared to all that nonsense about waving sardines around or shoving fried anchovies and breaded mackerel in your face. Just pure horror stories, really.

*brain cell failure alert*
GNNJJJHHHH!!!! 🙂
Unless you meant it in some kind of rude way. But isn't it true that the tighter the fit, the longer the gyro stays relevant? 🙂

We really have to give these guys credit for how they absolutely nail the extremes—things like meat lovers' gyros and Greek salad.
And on top of all that, they’ve got those incredibly cool letters, a hilarious language, and arguably the only fun part of their entire history.

But hey, go ahead and ask around, I'm just speculating here.

gentlepuma20 said:There’s this one gyro joint—and yes, I am officially claiming ownership of that word—somewhere just past the outskirts of downtown. Honestly, I can't pin down the exact spot because we were driving, and my sense of direction is basically non-existent whenever I'm not behind the wheel myself.😬
But hey, I could try to track it down for you...

Oh, really? Go ahead, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, ask, mushroom mushroom

gentlepuma20 said:Those gyros are massive and packed with everything you could want. You practically die after eating one.

That’s exactly how I remember them too. Ugh, the nostalgia is killing me!!!! 🙂 🙂

Does it come with that creamy garlic sauce (tzatziki)? 🙂 🙂 🙏

Greece is honestly the best. I think it was Crete.
Just imagine people like us, basically obsessed with BBQ and pork, living in a place where summer stretches all the way until November.
Even if they do have their own versions of the Grdović lifestyle...
