Pure nonsense.

Hamilton made a mistake during his outlap, and that mistake cost him lost time.

The outlap time makes it obvious—1:42.

That single lap messed up the whole situation, which is why we saw Rič parallel to Hamilton at st. Devote.
Even with a decent outlap from Hamilton, a perfect pit stop wouldn't have saved Ričard.

steelmaker83 said:Look, Kemmel is two kilometers long, which isn't even enough—it's just barely enough for a quick overtake attempt. But how much distance is there before that new chicane after the redesigned Turn 1 at Monza - fail?

That stretch is two kilometers from leaving the Source, through Eau Rouge, all the way to the end of Kemmel.

With cars this fast nowadays, Eau Rouge is nothing. A joke.
Even a Marussia could blast through it flat out.

When you're talking about overtaking on the Kemmel straight, DRS matters way more than how someone handles Eau Rouge.

New Monza - fail.

We actually have a specific discussion going regarding tracks and their layouts right here:

Ten for Kvyat Vettel?

Sebastian Vettel collided with Kimi Räikkönen in Turn 1. Vettel will probably tell the team on the radio, "I am sorry guys," about 26 times in a cracking voice, nearly in tears.

Hey.Yeah, we're looking at that exact scenario for the next 30 laps.

Roger Wright94 said:If someone in the pit lane had the guts to pull the trigger and go with the prepped tires immediately, Ricciardo would have come out ahead of Hamilton. I truly believe he could have held that position. Even with the softer compound on a cooler track, it should have been enough to hold off those ultra-fast ultrasofts from Hamilton.

In that scenario—Ricciardo on softs versus Lewis on ultrasofts—that ten-second gap Ricciardo held would have evaporated within four or five laps.

And honestly? I have my doubts about how a harder soft compound would perform against Lewis on ultrasofts on a relatively cold track in Monaco.
Ricciardo would have struggled significantly just trying to get heat into those tires.
Don't forget, there was still plenty of dampness off the racing line.

Lewis's outlap was absolutely disastrous (1:42), though he did manage to warm everything up later.

It would have been an interesting dynamic, but thirty-odd laps of Lewis in a faster car on superior rubber...? It likely ends exactly how TBF predicted.

Either Lewis sails right past him, or he crashes both himself and Ricciardo in the process. 🙂

mellowtiger83 said:I’m sticking to my guns here: Hamilton was driving incredibly slow at several points on purpose. Even you noticed it in your live updates during the race.

Hamilton only sped up occasionally just to shake Ricciardo off his tail, likely because he'd learned from previous encounters with Ricciardo's aggressive moves. Just because he clocked a fastest lap in those moments doesn't prove anything. He would just slow right back down immediately after. It’s obvious—he was driving way below his actual potential.

Essentially, Hamilton was in total control of the race.

Exactly what I’ve been saying.

mellowtiger83 said:Essentially, Hamilton was the only one with Ricciardo's pace. He actually had more speed in terms of Race pace, but he opted for a strategy that both I and Jason Campbell70 thought was insane. We couldn't have imagined those ultrasofts would last that many laps—probably not even Hamilton himself dreamed of it. That’s why he was driving so incredibly slow; Ricciardo almost capitalized on it a few times.

Hamilton was driving slow?
Hamilton was dropping fastest laps on an ultrasoft that was over 20 laps old, eventually clocking the fastest lap of the race at the very end.
He probably pulled a two-second gap just to let Ricciardo try to respond.

It's pretty much what Rossi likes to do in MotoGP, except Rossi does it when he's chasing someone down.

And considering the pace he was hitting at the finish, those ultrasofts still had plenty of life left in them.
Interesting, because if we were at Barcelona, after five laps that same ultrasoft wouldn't be garbage; it would be the reason you lose several seconds per lap.

With all that in mind, I'm still more fascinated by what Lewis managed to pull off on a full wet track.

So, we're looking at the end of the season, or just until the title is settled.

If we’re going to bet, let's do it properly.

The avatar, the signature, the location, and the quote.

Avatar:

Quote:
NEW ERA - NEW STRENGTH

Location:
Anderson's mess

Signature:
BAN MARASOVCU!

Just those things, mind you. No modifications or extra additions (like in the signature).

Until the end of the season—or whenever the champion is decided, whichever comes first.
For instance, if the title is settled in Mexico (October 30, 2016), then the loser can change their avatar, quote, location, and signature the very next day (exactly at midnight, 0:00 on October 31, 2016). At that point, the obligation from the bet expires.
