Najs 👍

Never heard of them before... adding them to my friends list immediately.

Here’s more....

The Magnets ( Bordeaux, F )

A duo from France...

Rodriguez ( Salt Lake City, Switzerland )

They played in Chicago about a year or two ago... honestly, they're my favorite Swiss band...
I have to admit, their live shows hit way harder than their studio recordings... but... whatever.

Rat Traps ( Henderson, TN, USA )

Spot on!!! They probably just married into the family. There’s no other explanation...

Canadian Disease... they're playing with The Rippers in Denver in just a few weeks.
The photo says it all...

The Fatalists ( somewhere in the US )

This stuff is pretty twisted... I doubt it’s anyone's cup of tea... but I'm into it.

The Stooges ( Los Angeles, USA )

We caught them live in New York City... really hoping they make it back this spring... such a killer band.

GORE GORE GIRLS ( Detroit, USA )

Not sure if they're still together. Last tour was back in 2004/2005...
Classic 60s retro sound... solid... pure girl garage rock in the vein of the legendary The Stooges.

The Black Lips (Atlanta, USA)

Here’s something special... a bunch of reckless teenagers in their absolute prime. They hail from some small town just outside Atlanta.
Top-tier band... honestly maybe the only ones who have TRULY recaptured that raw 'touch' of the classic 60s garage rock scene. They signed with the prestigious Sub Pop and they're making waves everywhere. Definitely my favorites... they've been out on tour for about 6 months now.

The Black Keys ( New York City, USA)

The most interesting killer duo out there right now... me and Nirvana are losing our minds watching them.
A totally insane, heavy performance... both guys were practically bleeding from their heads while jumping around.
And no. They aren't on speed.
They're playing shows all over the US, completely unknown for now... but they'll make waves if they have any luck and sense. And yeah... I've never seen a better drummer in my life.

So... whenever I find myself with some downtime, I figure I'll put together a little educational thread about garage rock that isn't dead. Actually, it's very much alive. Specifically, I want to talk about some relatively unknown bands currently killing it out there.
I’m going to introduce you to some groups I’ve heard or seen live that truly represent the best of the scene—not just in garage rock, but across the board.
You can find the music via the links provided for download.
I hope you enjoy some of this. I'd love to hear your thoughts or even see your own favorites... my only rule is that they have to be new, fresh, and full of energy. Forget the legends for a second.

Don't keep it to yourself! Let us in on it! 👏

I'll shoot you a DM.

@Pekka

The stars just didn't align for him that night... trust me. He's the real deal.
And we aren't talking rap... we're talking garage, rock 'n' roll, and soul.

Look... this guy wrote Jail Bait.
He's the one who showed Ike Turner how it's done...
Or walked into Marvin Gaye's studio just to slap someone for missing a note...
He probably sent Stevie Wonder out to grab some burgers (well, maybe that's why they were late), blah, blah.
The man is living history.
But yeah...
Getting old sucks.

Chloe Wilson11 said:man, years pass and you just end up with all these different thoughts swirling in your head🙄

Yeah.
Every now and then, for just a second or two, something magical would happen, and then it would vanish again.
The band was mediocre. The guitarist? Man. Only now do I realize how much he needed the Green Hornets; they could have actually made that work.

I drove him and Wulf to the hotel. He was pissed, an easy 9 out of 10.
He went on this long monologue about his manager (who also plays keys), some Dutchman guy:

'That little thief... absolute trash, he's gonna get a baseball bat to the face, that lowlife gray rat needs to be locked in a tiny wire cage and buried deep in the ground before someone pisses on him'... yeah, something like that.

Btw. Andre converted to Judaism a few years ago.

Oh, one more thing... we heard about 'that incident' backstage. Case closed.

Well, that's it. I already went.

They’re a waste of time. Just go see the Meteors instead.

Björk🤣
Kevin Chavez3 said:Man, I'll probably make it to both, this one's coming up sooner anyway. Apparently, Xvaselin childrenX are totally old-school with that heavy sound; True is death metal with a banjo image, and the mic setup follows along with a weeping Tuna. 👍
By the way, Cliff and I watched some Alfred Hitchcock recently, and we actually liked it. Very New York style, you know? Real rock music vibe. Good stuff. Honestly, that's why I'm even here.

Hmm, hmm... if I can swing it, I'll hit all of them. You've got some serious credit with me right now regarding recommendations 🙂
Those 'your' Šaban guys over in the Midwest were 🙏 🙏 🙏

But don't go disrespecting our Biljane, for heaven's sake, alright? 🙂
Kevin Chavez3 said:Actually, there's another gig earlier too, so it should be a solid Friday.

Mediterranean? Vegans? Hardcore? 🙄

Me and Elvis Presley will write you up for 3 unexcused absences if you show up to those emo kids.

We'll only give you credit if you go and set off some kind of useful little explosive device. 😘

Alright.. being honest here... I haven't listened to those bands, maybe they're actually great.. but the lineup is.. just meh. 👎

I'm going to Netflix.

Hey Jonathan Green23, what's the deal with Paramount Pictures? They better be good, otherwise they're just wasting precious hellsonicov time. 😁
stormyviper11 said:I still see that whole group as kids, just like when I first met them 12 or 13 years ago...

Then comes our era... followed by a total washout of post-rock, emo, folk, and prog.

Take a guy like our local legend, for example.

Two left feet, Johnson's syndrome, and pure rage hiding behind glasses.

Who's going to pay the bill?

No worries, man. Here’s another one waiting for you when you get back 🙂

And... a little extra. Just in case. You never know 😉
