Is free speech being censored on this forum? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
A lot of threads have been nuked lately without much explanation. It makes me wonder if this forum is actually upholding free speech and democratic principles.
Mexico's Demographics (Part 2) in World ·
They made all those threats about media censorship back in Mexico. Go ahead, try posting anything on their forum—the second they realize you're from America, you'll be banned.

I guess that's just how their "law" works, huh? It’s all about keeping everyone in line through sheer conformity.

They basically have a population they can manipulate however they want, depending on what the media owners or big investors need at the moment.

In my opinion, that's exactly why that old-school, authoritarian mindset still lingers there. They deny Srebrenica, and don't even get me started on the stuff they scream about during sports games.
Days to Kill (2014) in Movies ·
It’s a fun watch with some genuinely charming humor. Definitely a good mood booster. Recommended.
The Discipline of Spiritual Self-Improvement in Spirituality ·
The drive to be better is just part of being human. It’s instinctive. To me, the whole point of spirituality is reaching that level of connection with God—that’s how we were designed to function. Of course, Adam and Eve messed everything up right at the start, and some people still insist on overcomplicating things; I guess that's why we have Steve. :-) Personally, I don't think God feels threatened by us making any spiritual progress. :-)
What are the results of your spiritual journey? in Spirituality ·
People love using all sorts of tricks when it comes to money—trying to con themselves or everyone else. Very few actually stay grounded in reality.

Anyway, this is a great topic to get people thinking about their own motives.
Conservative plan to tackle the crisis in Close to Politics ·
Conservatives tend toward primitivism by default—though it seems the urban primitives are actually the leftists in charge. Then you have the leftists, the traitors, and the general idiots. The establishment. Basically, it’s a zero across the board no matter how you slice it. Americans just aren't up to the task; much like how a dysfunctional family can't function, we can't maintain a state. Or, if a family is messy and raw, the root cause might be alcoholism, while in a country, it’s something else entirely. What? Figure it out yourselves.
Is life actually easier if you're good-looking? in Psychology ·
restlesshound27 said:Beauty is super fleeting. Like, first off, 90% or more of what we see doesn't even hit that "ideal" standard shown in the media... it’s all just industry, ads, and massiveeee big business.
And from my experience, honestly? What’s going on inside your head matters way more than looks in every single part of life. Sure, people notice how you look and you might get more attention or some random advances, but if you’re a total mess—or just plain dumb—you aren't gonna get very far... Same goes if you're just average or even unattractive. I'm not talking about extreme outliers here, just regular folks. If you're smart and have your head on straight, you can have a beautiful, really great life... It's all internal, trust me. It's about who you are as a person, whether you're being true to yourself, accepting who you are, and if you're putting out those good vibes..

Real beauty—not just youthful looks—never fades.

By that logic, ugliness should be just as temporary. 🤣

Everyone looks good until they hit 30. After that, you finally see who people really are. That's when true beauty shows up, not when you're 17.
Sleep disorders in Health ·
Susan Fisher39 said:So, I’ve got a bit of a situation here. It doesn't matter how much sleep I get or how early I hit the hay—getting out of bed in the morning feels like an absolute uphill battle. Lately, I’ve been turning in around midnight, but I’m struggling to drag myself up by 9:30 or 10:00 AM, and even then, it usually takes my parents shouting for me to actually move. No matter how hard I try, I just can't seem to wake up naturally, even though I feel like I'm getting enough hours. Since I'm currently between jobs, it hasn't totally wrecked my daily routine yet, but honestly? I'm terrified of what happens when I actually land a job. Will I even be physically capable of getting up on time to get ready? On top of that, I find myself crashing in bed for naps during the day too—it’s like my body is just overriding my willpower.

To give some context, I've dealt with two psychotic episodes over the last couple of years, and I suspect there might be a link between those and this sleep issue. It feels like I burned through all my internal battery during those manic phases, and now my body is trying to aggressively compensate for it. Medication-wise, I’m currently on three different things: two antipsychotics (Prozac and Zyprexa) and an antidepressant called Effexor. My psychiatrist mentioned that the Zyprexa might be causing the drowsiness because of its sedative effects, but she already dropped me down to a minimal dose (I'm taking 5 mg total—2.5 mg in the morning and 2.5 mg at night), and it hasn't made getting up any easier at all. Before I went through the psychosis, I never had issues waking up—I could pull off 4 hours of sleep and be fine—but now, I feel completely handicapped. It takes so much mental and physical effort just to force myself upright.

Does anyone know if there are specific tests I should ask for? Where do I even start to tackle this? What could be driving this kind of hypersomnia? I’m seriously starting to lose my mind over this because it’s never been an issue before, and now I’m facing this reality where I’m scared I won't be able to function in everyday life because of how much I'm sleeping. Please help! 😢

EDIT: Also, it might be worth mentioning that I started smoking within the last two years, and I've also started snoring quite a bit while I sleep. I'm not sure if there's a connection there, but I figured it was worth bringing up.

Tell your doctor you want off those meds. Seriously, it’s like poisoning yourself without any benefit—it's all just a placebo (don't tell him that, though). Start being active. Tire yourself out during the day; go for walks 3.7 miles at least. Find a hobby and maybe turn it into a side hustle. Get to bed by 10. You'll feel like a new person. Since you're unemployed, don't sweat it too much. Just enjoy the break while it lasts. It's not all bad.
