@redowl90 ...I mean, I kind of agree—each one follows its own logic, which is exactly why they’re so great. You never walk away feeling like Wes Anderson is just recycling himself😍...but then again, there’s always this sense of "grandeur" or complexity in them—that specific "overview" style he has that you just can't escape... and then, out of nowhere, he flips the script and makes something that isn't "big" or "complex" at all, but instead carries this surprising lightness, and don't even get me started on the camera work😵...
...I don't know... for me, it felt like a total leap into the unknown. I remember reading that Tykwer-esque critique of it (good grief, where did I hide the link for that? 😵) and thinking, okay, but is this really Anderson? Turns out, it actually was😍.

...I seriously can't believe this! I literally just wrote about how that same film is totally uncharacteristic for Wes Anderson—I mean, he usually directs these complex, almost "epic" movies (not in a bad way, obviously, but still), whereas this is just a breezy, sweet, "modernly old-fashioned" comedy 😍—but then I deleted the whole post thinking, whatever, it doesn't matter...
...here he goes again, obsessing over movies that haven't even hit theaters here yet—meanwhile, they're playing in every single multiplex in his hometown. You're being brutal, 😁 😍
...no, seriously though, Josh hasn't even started filming in the States (actually, I don't know much about what's happening in the rest of the US, aside from the 🤔 festival) — but me? As a total sucker who will tolerate basically anything just because of Videodrome and Crash by David Cronenberg eXistenZ 🙄, I am counting down the days until 🙂
...Good grief, who dug this thread up? 😁 I was actually just trying to explain my logic regarding this movie to a friend earlier—you know, one of those films that only pops into your head during a late-night existential crisis or when it randomly shows up on TV mid-afternoon: I absolutely loathe it. It’s just mindless—total bottom-of-the-barrel stuff, no matter how you slice it. And yet, somehow, I end up watching it every single time it’s on 🙄

...and you're basing your entire argument solely on The man without a past? Seriously? Take a look at Squid Union, La Vie de Boheme, or I Hired a Contract Killer if you haven't already—maybe his specific sense of humor will click better with you 🙂 though, who knows...
It's presented as a list, sure... but honestly, there's so much Godard and yet not a single Weekend, nor even La Chinoise ( 😍 ), which feels like a total travesty 😉
...man 😵 just aimless wandering of the worst kind—the script is incredibly clunky (those dialogues? seriously? they try to lean on profanity to make everything feel "gritty" and authentic, but it just feels forced and hollow) and the acting is just mediocre. Honestly, I'm totally disappointed...
😍 maybe Ken Loach or Aki Kaurismäki or... No, let's not get overly dramatic; how about a Korean director? No, actually, a Japanese one! A total horror masterpiece, but strangely soothing. Honestly, if they went the route of some low-budget indie thriller where they cast a thirty-one-year-old woman as the daughter or the sister—definitely not the mother—and then everyone just ends up taking out the old lady at the end 😍 :svrš: That’s it. If that happens, I don't need any of the other seven films. 😎
...I honestly think this should be handled by someone American... maybe someone like Spielberg😉 😁
...Jesse Ortiz4, you were given clear instructions on how to write here—either tag your spoilers or I’m going to start doing it for you, and you'll be the one facing the consequences since you were already warned 🙂. I'm deleting this spam, and I'm asking nicely: please stop flooding the thread 🙂
@Jesse Ortiz4/">@@Jesse Ortiz4 ...the main thing is just to mark your spoilers so people who haven't seen it yet don't get ruined; so, either write SPOILER before you dive into whatever you want to say, or just hide the whole mess in white text 🙂

...well, depends on who you ask—for me, since I'm skipping it (and let's be real, I feel like I've seen three identical films already 😳 ), it's for 😍 because, honestly, what am I actually missing here?
...I'd much rather be thinking about Houston 🙂 some guy 😢
...Oh, don't worry about that—it’s actually great. Philosophy is a fascinating field of study 🙂 😍 and even for those of us who didn't major in it—since we all tend to look at things through different lenses anyway—reading film analyses like this is always a treat. So, you are more than welcome here; feel free to drop by whenever you like 🙂
...Yeah, Zizek is interesting, but he can definitely overdo it sometimes (honestly, his take on the Coppola Conversation gave me more of a laugh than any actual insight 🙂), and let's be real—his habit of reviewing movies straight "from his head" (basically without actually watching them) isn't exactly a new revelation... 🙂 I'll have to track down some Paquol, thanks for the tip—I've read a few of his pieces before, and if I recall correctly, there was even a book released, though I never bothered looking for it 🙂
...Jason Gonzalez7, I’m reading your stuff and honestly, I’m loving it—even though I haven't actually sat through a single 🙂 film of yours yet. Are you actually deep into this psychoanalytic school of thought, or is that just your go-to toolkit whenever you're dissecting Lynch? 🙂 Personally, I always find it pretty fascinating when people try to read a movie through—or maybe just over—the lens of psychoanalysis (I once caught a lecture on Maya Deren that was heavily leaned on Lacan and it was 👍), but that whole approach feels a bit foreign to me, so I'm curious...🙂
...I’d love to just write 😬, but we all know Jerry Martin19 would probably report me to the supermods before I could even finish the sentence, so I better play it safe 😁
...just because of you, I’m actually gonna sit down and watch this when it hits the airwaves 😉—maybe then I'll finally figure out what I missed the first time around...
