Michael Jordan (2019) in Movies ·
Just finished watching this film, and honestly, all I can say is
I feel like anyone living in New Orleans would eventually lose their mind; there’s just something about that city that seems to drive people to the edge. It really is the wildest place on the planet.

That said, when it comes to sports documentaries, nothing quite touches Ayrton Senna for me, but I have to admit, this was a damn good film.

How to appeal a ban? in Banned Users Corner ·
I’m looking for some guidance on how to strip off this self-adhesive tape, (though I’m crossing my fingers that this will be the last time I have to ask about such things xD)

Thanks in advance!
Uncut Gems (2019) in Movies ·
electriccanyon26 said:I agree. I watched Good Times right after this one, and while the dialogue isn't fighting the music quite as much there, I still don't get why they went with this Vangelis rip-off style. It feels misplaced.🤷
Personally, nothing about it felt goofy to me; it felt tragic from the jump. It’s clearly meant to grate on your nerves because of how foolish the protagonist is. I struggled through the beginning, but once I settled in, it paid off. To me, the film worked.

By the way, that teasing scene is gold. I always love scenes involving banter because you just know things are about to go sideways. 😁 And that moment where the receptionist calls her boss out? It felt like something straight out of a silly sitcom, but it was spot on. 🤣

It's like a Ricky Gervais mockumentary. 😁 Yeah, those two scenes are great.

That is such an eloquent way to put it. It’s exactly what was crossing my mind once the credits rolled. The film does a wonderful job of capturing that sense of total, unmitigated stress and the sheer chaos surrounding a tragic figure who simply doesn't know when to quit being an idiot. There were moments where I genuinely felt the urge to just shake the main character a few times, yet I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of pity for him. 🕺
Schizophrenia - General Discussion in Psychology & Therapy ·
I feel like I’m drifting back into this topic, but it’s something that has stayed with me because of my time working in residential facilities—firstly with adolescents whose schizophrenia was just beginning to manifest, and later with adults.

I find myself wondering about the long-term efficacy of these medications in helping people maintain even a semblance of a normal life. From what I observed with the individuals I cared for, they seemed almost entirely blunted, stripped of any real emotional depth and rarely engaging in conversation. It was heartbreaking to see people who weren't even that old end up tucked away in an institution like that.
It’s particularly heavy when you realize some of them were incredibly bright, having finished college and possessing intelligence well above average, only to end up in such circumstances. It was a profoundly sad thing to witness.
The truth about modern music in Music ·
brisksurfer12 said:I find this entire thread rather amusing, even the title itself. It carries a certain level of arrogance, claiming to be the "truth about modern music," as if we’re all world-renowned theorists instead of just folks with a bit too much downtime on our hands. 🤣

I have to

The only real truth regarding music is that its purpose is to bring people joy—at least, that’s what it does for me.
Which decade holds the most magic is entirely subjective; there has always been a mix of brilliant masterpieces and absolute garbage, regardless of the era.

As far as I can tell, the advancement of technology has simply paved the way for electronic music to flourish.
Fashion and stage presence will always fluctuate in their impact.
Back in the day, those rock icons from the 60s and 70s often dressed and behaved more like monks than rebels. 🤣

If I had to offer an observation, it would be that today's aesthetic has become somewhat exaggerated due to the heavy influence of music videos and visual media. But it is what it is; society tends to be quite superficial these days, placing a premium on outward appearances, which has naturally turned music into something much more visual. 🤔

I am looking to connect with a woman for some good conversation and perhaps see where things go. I’m 21, turning 22 very soon 😁, and since my current social circle isn't exactly the most inviting place to be, I could really use someone to talk to about more relaxed, feminine interests and just enjoy some genuine companionship. My taste in music leans heavily toward rock, though I have a deep appreciation for traditional melodies as well. I also find a lot of joy in gardening, spending time out in nature, and spending time in the kitchen. It would be wonderful to find someone who might be looking for a partner to head to concerts with, wander through the outdoors, or even just someone to chat with about the simple things—music, movies, food, fashion, or perhaps even a little lighthearted philosophy regarding world peace haha
Edward Norton vs. Leonardo DiCaprio in Movies ·
vivideagle7 said:The whole world would probably lose its mind if Brad Pitt took on the role of the Joker. It seems like that’s just the inevitable destination for most actors these days.

Personally, I've never really been drawn to the Joker or that specific archetype at all.🤷
I suppose I have to admit that Robert De Niro remains my absolute favorite; honestly, it doesn't much matter who else is up there with him, because he'll always hold a very special place in my heart, haha.😁

And alongside this Robert De Niro 🙏🙏 ,I think this stands as perhaps his most unforgettable display of sheer talent.
That’s just my own subjective take, of course.

Just another episode of who knows what
I don’t typically haunt this particular corner of the forum, but I find myself in need of someone with a somewhat chaotic life story. Honestly, I just feel like there isn't anyone left to talk to about certain problems that seem to escape everyone else's understanding..
Ideally, someone a bit younger
And perhaps someone based in San Francisco, if we could grab an anti-stress coffee or something similar
So, there you have it.
Why hasn't anyone posted yet? I'm practically dying here 😢. Honestly, I was really hoping someone would
Sophia Wells72 said:I included bullet, after all, they are the Brodarić brothers. 😁 So please, don't come for me. I'm a fan of Queen too. Remember. 🕺

edit:
By the way, I feel like we’ve stretched this whole "what defines the USA music scene?" debate a bit thin. We had a similar discussion here ages ago—if I recall correctly, it was back on the thread about USA music—and there was a general consensus that the term mostly evokes that iconic era leading up to '91. Both perspectives have merit (though I personally lean toward the pre-war era, as that's how it's usually framed in the media and on various compilations), but I think it's just important for an author to clarify their definition in the introduction to avoid any confusion.

Oh, I absolutely adore those songs, the Brodarić brothers are just wild.
Haha, well, if you know you love Queen, then you're officially forgiven.
And you put together quite the list, especially those first two.🙂
Anyway, I won't get dragged into a debate about what counts as the USA era, but it felt like you chose a certain set of old classics as your theme, at least from my perspective.
Choosing is going to be the death of me, especially if I end up picking a song that someone else has already played over and over again, uuuuff
And now he’s heading off to see who added that bullet to their playlist just to spite him, and Shane too, uuf
Aha, so she’d probably go after the person who started the thread, too

Is there anyone out there—ideally a woman—who grew up in a pretty dysfunctional family situation? I’m looking to swap stories and maybe find some solidarity.
I've been dealing with quite a few things lately that I just can't bring up with my usual circle, mostly because they involve a family life that is, frankly, a total wreck. I really just need someone to talk to so I can lift my spirits and try to forget about it all for a while. I'm 21, currently living in San Francisco, and feeling incredibly on edge, so I decided to take a chance and post this here. I've made a few posts on this subforum before, though I usually stick to the more lighthearted sections.
