Motherboard driver issues in IT Support ·
Anyway, Windows 7 actually has this really solid feature tucked away in Windows Update that works surprisingly well,
when you're running an update, make sure to check out the hardware section—you can probably just pick out all the drivers you need right there for the installation.

Look, seriously, if you don't actually know what's going on here, just don't post... and since it's pretty obvious you have no clue, please, just don't post.

Same here, just a tiny spoiler alert I actually really want him to get taken out at the end...

Hey, could you try opening this forum on an Android phone for me? Seriously, give it a shot—whether it's an iPhone, a BlackBerry, or whatever else you've got lying around. Just tell me what the very first thing you see is once it loads... please! I’m curious to see what everyone else gets. For the benefit of the group!
What's the deal with Opera Mini? I can't help but think that anyone who's constantly obsessing over their data limits is probably using it to scrape by.

Tapatalk?

I mean, honestly, these people are so incredibly cheap they probably count every single megabyte they use. They crawl onto the forums just to read the joke threads, only to get absolutely roasted by a GIF, and then—of course—they have the nerve to slide into the admins' DMs to complain about it. Typical.
I’m basically acting as my own admin here, mostly because he’s actually going to show up on this forum eventually. And honestly? It’s driving me absolutely nuts. Every time I try to load this thread, it takes forever. The GIFs are the main culprit—the whole page is sitting at about 30MB, and just one single GIF is probably dragging us down by 300kb. It's a mess. 🤦)

Look, everyone’s entitled to an opinion. You guys made a massive blunder, and now you're trying to hide behind all this pseudo-official corporate jargon to justify it. Honestly? It’s just a bunch of excuses. From where we're sitting, this whole thing is just one big, messy rant.

Sarah Morales90 said:Don't get me wrong, but I'm siding with Jose Johnson79 on this one. It’s not like she did anything out of pure spite.

Is it really?
I can't believe I actually fell for that one. Honestly, looking back at how much time I wasted on it, I feel a little ridiculous. It’s one of those things where you think you've got everything figured out, and then—boom—you realize you were walking straight into a trap. Anyway, enough about my momentary lapse in judgment. What do you all think? Is it just me, or is this whole situation getting a bit absurd?

GIFs and video clips aren't photos. End of Story.

And this one too.
I honestly don't know where to start with this mess. It’s one thing to deal with incompetence, but it's another level entirely when it's this systematic. I was looking at the data again this morning, and it just doesn't add up. There’s no way anyone in charge actually looked at these numbers before making that call. It feels like we're just throwing darts at a board in a dark room and hoping we hit something profitable. I mean, really? We're supposed to believe this is the "strategic direction" for the next fiscal year? Give me a break. It’s almost impressive how they managed to miss the obvious red flags. If this were any other company, they would have been replaced by the board months ago. But here, it's just business as usual. Anyway, I'm probably just venting now. My coffee is cold, my mood is sour, and I’m clearly getting nowhere with this. Just felt like someone had to say it.
Jose Johnson79 said:Good grief, I haven't seen this much pure audacity even in the most notorious reform schools.👋

Maybe it’s just me, but it really gets under my skin when someone tries to act like an expert on something they clearly don't understand. Like, okay—a GIF isn't a photo. It *is* a photo, sure, but it can be animated. She didn't make a mistake by accident; she genuinely just doesn't get how it works. Or maybe I'm just being overly sensitive because I'm a guy and I took it personally. My bad. 🤷 Look, I know I come across as sensitive—it’s just how I am—but honestly? Most of the time I’m actually pretty indifferent. It’s not that I don't care; I just have some very specific reasons for staying detached. ☕

Look, I’ve got nothing against her personally. Truly. My issue isn't with her; it's with the sheer inconsistency and the total lack of common sense coming from that entire side of the aisle.

silentsailor5 said:Look, I’m sorry, but which specific post, reply, or DM of mine led you to think we're all tech-illiterate?

"So what am I supposed to do now?" I already said
that when moderators lack the actual technical chops to make calls—you know, being tech-savvy—they fail to set rules where they actually belong.
Is any single one of you moderators actually tech-literate enough?
And if everyone here shares the same mindset as the guy quoted below—and yeah, I used ZgSash as an example here
—then you basically just insulted yourself. I was looking for the illiterate ones, and my point was that anyone siding with ZgSash falls right into that category. I mean, you have more oversized images than actual GIFs, get it?

So, I wasn't pulling this from your posts (I haven't even checked if you have a post like that, nor did I claim your technical incompetence was the issue; your point was actually a counterargument to how you guys shut down threads with excuses like "just be nice, the request is being handled, we're all professionals here, but you aren't, so thread closed")
I was pulling it from your colleague. So, if you're backing his logic, then... well, I think you get the picture.
Quick question! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’d lay out some hard facts—especially regarding the technical side of things—but there's one major issue first. I honestly feel like some of the moderators aren't quite equipped to make these calls. You know, lacking the actual technical literacy needed to ensure rules are applied where they actually belong.

It’s just one of those things that happens here in America. Someone wanders into a section that’s functioning perfectly fine (like the funny photo thread) and starts forcing their own bad rules on everyone. These rules only matter to her, since she isn't even posting there, but she does it simply because she can... and well, you get the idea.

The uproar stems from exactly this kind of thing. It’s pretty rich to see people demanding total obedience, politeness, and "professional behavior" from the community while you guys are still weighing requests, all while comments like this are flying around.
silentsailor5 said:She's great in bed, and since I'm a moderator... well, you know how things work in this country, buddy... 🙂

🤦

By the way, is a GIF considered an animation? Wait, so does that mean it belongs in the video section? Or would it have been banned if everything were running smoothly and someone posted an ANIMATION instead of a VIDEO? (Sure, you split them up, but I really think the original question needs a second read.)
Is any of you moderators actually tech-savvy enough to even engage in this debate? (And I'm asking because if you haven't read this far, you clearly lack the technical literacy.) I'm being serious here, because
even on the very first page of this thread, there's a GIF (which is only 115kb).
http://i9.tinypic.com/2agkjld.gif

and an image that's 289kb.
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t238/M4t174/rip.jpg

If you all share the same opinion as our colleague down there, then you aren't technically literate. I know the rule says images are smaller in width now, but I can explain it again with another example if necessary.
ZgSash said:The only idea was to separate images from animations, because animations are large and loading them causes issues for a certain number of users.

🤦

I am completely lost here. It's hard to explain something when you don't believe you should even have to explain it. Sorry, mods/admins, but GIF animations belong in the funny photo section (and they always have), just like larger images do. So, let me ask: do you actually have a valid reason for doing the opposite? Because the flimsy excuse you gave isn't cutting it.

This falls under standard messaging, and I don't see why it would violate forum rules... but claiming a typical guy won't be able to get over this and do what's right? That's a whole different story.

Mark Sanchez3 said:It all comes down to the hardware and the person using it! An OS is just a tool—it's really just the way you get from A to B.

Thanks for the input, but honestly, your post is totally irrelevant. I have no idea what the point of such a pseudo-intellectual comment is; the message is clear to everyone, yet it doesn't actually mean anything useful.
I mean, why even bring that up in a thread about Windows 7? Or operating systems in general? Because apparently, everything depends on the computer and the user, the computer depends on the user, the user depends on themselves, and at this rate, we don't even need an OS anymore—everything just depends on us. ☕
That whole post just felt completely pointless to me.

We’re talking specifically about Windows 7 here and comparing it to other versions. I've spent enough time digging into these systems to squeeze every bit of performance out of them. So, when I talk about the balance of stability and speed, I'm not just talking about casual Windows use—like clicking around, playing games, or changing a wallpaper. I phrased my comment simply because so many people coming over from Linux complain that Windows hogs all 4GB of their RAM and call the whole thing garbage.
The exact same logic was used to draw conclusions about Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7 by people who didn't actually have a clue how a system functions or what it's truly capable of.

Besides, I primarily use Linux, which makes your post even less relevant to me.

This is just a discussion, and I'm sharing my take on the Windows (7) OS. My previous point was meant to clarify that last post so there's no need to turn this into an argument.😉

Interesting link. I’ve been running build 7057 since it dropped, and honestly, it’s pretty solid. It hits that sweet spot between Windows Vista and Windows XP. For me, Vista always felt way too sluggish for all the cool features it promised, whereas XP can be a bit of a headache when it comes to stability. This feels like the perfect middle ground. Even with the visual effects turned on, it runs fast. If you strip the effects away, I think anyone looking to ditch XP would find this a massive upgrade—you get a much cleaner look and modern functionality without sacrificing speed, even if some of the new UI quirks are a little clunky.
