Maybe it could have gone a bit darker, more gritty, some low-budget indie vibe???🤷
I'm honestly just curious to see how people react to it.
There is absolutely no way he misses the mark with this one.🙂

Without getting too deep into the weeds here:

First Blood: 8/10

Rambo: 6/10

Rambo III: 5/10

John Rambo: 7/10

People can say whatever they want about his acting style, but for me, Sly is the absolute GOAT. I trust him completely—whether he’s playing Rambo, Rocky, or even Drew.😁

Look, I'm not saying the movie is bad—I gave it a solid 7—it just didn't totally click for me. And honestly? I wasn't a fan of the lead actor. He felt way too cold during that scene where he finds out his daughter was killed. To me, the film lacks subtlety, though thank Bog there’s no forced sentimentality. That said, the theme is absolutely brilliant, especially with how it questions the whole idea of revenge. In that regard, the movie is pure genius.
My apologies for the off-topic tangent! I won't derail the thread any further.🙂

The subject matter is great and those camera angles? Fantastic. But honestly, it just felt way too sterile for my taste.
That’s not quite what she was asking for. 😁 Honestly, your best bet is to use the IMDb advanced search to track down exactly the kind of movies you're after. Most of them fall under the drama genre anyway. I don't really care about the release year, though I definitely have a soft spot for films that capture life in small-town America today.
For instance, if you want a solid movie about an aging farmer, check out That Evening Sun (2009).

The Big Country
The Long Hot Summer
Wild River
Mystery Street
I'm not entirely sure... just look through these and see if they hit the mark for you.
Carl Rivera2 said:They aren't even in order, and five is way too few:

Apocalypse Now (it's an absolute essential)
The Big Blue (go see it, my love)
Mulholland Drive (Lynch is just brilliantly twisted)
A Clockwork Orange (you can't skip this one)
Gran Torino (what else is there to say?)

The Godfather (the only one I truly respect)
Dr. Strangelove (phenomenal)
Three Colors (Blue, White, Red)
Amarcord (only Italians could pull off something like that)
Apocalypto (if you can forget Mel Gibson directed it)

Dracula (Polanski created the best atmosphere for that genre, hands down)
Sunset Blvd (real, pure noir)
The English Patient (for when you just need a good cry)
Cabaret (speechless)
Annie Hall (classic Woody Allen)
Casablanca (a total masterpiece)

Star Wars (the original trilogy)
Lotr
Suspiria
(now THAT is atmosphere)

And also: Snatch and RocknRolla (Guy Ritchie is simply outstanding)

Marilyn Monroe 👍

Spike Jonze.

Now that I think about it, even the protagonists from those once-promising German films never really managed to make anything of themselves in life.

And who are we even talking about here? Tykwer, Hirschbiegel?

Sidney Lumet is still out there making movies, and they are pretty high quality, too. Massive respect to him!

Do you happen to have a link handy for the full Criterion film list? 🙂
