Sure, it might touch 1900, but I expect it'll eventually retreat back down to that 1500 level we saw recently.
I’ve been weighing the idea of selling while we're still sitting on these branches, then picking things back up once it dips toward 1500... but honestly, I can't be bothered to pull the trigger right now.🤷
How legal is it to buy gold—I'm talking investment grade stuff, bars and such—through online marketplaces? Technically, it's just merchandise, albeit high-end merchandise, so I'm wondering if there's any tax implication or anything similar involved...
What a brutal break on that German guy. It’s like he just absolutely mowed down the Pole in a fast break during a soccer match. The Pole really took a hit there. +1 for the Pole. Honestly, I don't even know who I'm rooting for anymore. Let's just hope for an X.
The Canadians are playing pretty solid; I’ve already spotted four fouls in just four minutes, and they’re sitting on seven fouls by the 7:4 mark. If we play at about 60 percent today, we should still pull off a win against the Canadians. They aren't exactly anything to write home about.
The Spanish side really had us on the ropes there... but hey, we’re still up by two. We’re being pretty uninspired in the attacking third, but somehow we keep finding ways to lead. Billy isn't quite hitting his stride today, and our defense? Let's just say it's been a bit shaky at best.
Back then, LCDs and plasmas weren't nearly as common as they are now; everyone just watched everything on local cable networks...
😬 I’m feeling a bit uneasy too. It isn't because they're necessarily better than us, but because of this idea that they are our "typical customers." It reminds me of how people used to talk about soccer vs. baseball—it's like how Italians view us. What kind of customers? We barely saw them when we played in Palermo back when we had our all-time greatest generation; we managed one draw, got crushed once in a tournament, and beat their youth squad once. They are hardly our "customers," even if we do seem to play well against them sometimes. The same goes for these Spaniards. They might be a good matchup for us, but I expect the game will stay dead even the whole way through. We'll have to give it everything we've got to pull off the win.
The Mexicans did a nice job leveling things out, though I suspect the Danes' experience will carry them through... In my opinion, the Mexicans just haven't quite matured yet. Still, they have a certain grit if they can actually follow up after a game where they dominated only to let it slip away. Not everyone can pull that off.
Then again, they've got Wilbek on their side. Wilbek is going to choke again; the guy is a total choker.🙂 All he does is complain.
Haha, I said it myself—they completely crumbled. That's what experience looks like.
I think this Zeppelin analysis is actually spot on... and yeah, the Mexicans definitely got pushed back. That’s what happens when you lack experience. It's the same story we see with teams in North Mexico... they just can't seem to pull off wins against elite squads unless they're sitting comfortably in the top five themselves.
Olivia White25 said:Honestly, I wouldn't say the Germans are some unstoppable powerhouse either... they feel more like they're playing in the same tier as the Mexicans right now.
Actually, that's a fair point. That’s exactly where they sit. You've got the French leading the way, then the Spaniards right behind them, and then everyone else follows...
edit lol Fair enough, I corrected myself. That’s the tier they belong in.
Yeah, exactly. Who’s actually running this half-baked show? ☕ I honestly don't get why teams from the North America think they're world-class just because they managed to scrape by a bunch of mediocre squads or settled for a draw against someone halfway decent. I mean, look at how those Canadians fared in the soccer qualifiers for the Euros, remember? What kind of "European powerhouse" nonsense are we even talking about here?
Even the German commentator seems to think the ref is playing favorites with the Mexicans, lol. But honestly, the Germans mostly have themselves to blame here. They just aren't being aggressive enough on defense. I don't see anything truly world-class about the Mexican side, yet they're slicing through the defense with ease. Now, with two extra players on the court, the Mexicans have a 5-point lead just 15 seconds into the second half.
Come on now, let's be reasonable. If there's real love there, you'll find a way through it. You just have to realize that taking out a loan from those vultures inevitably comes with a massive APR. I won't even get into the specifics of how much you end up paying back relative to what you borrowed—that's just the nature of long-term debt, regardless of who's lending it...
There’s also the unfortunate reality of devaluation to consider. There is a chance the dollar won't hold its value like it used to $2.50—say, if it drops significantly. How are you supposed to pay them back then? They’ll just hit you with a garnishment order within two months, tops. It’s honestly pathetic that our laws allow these kinds of... "institutions" to exist. It's basically legalized usury, yet people often feel like they don't have any other choice.
If you’re working under the table, they aren't going to approve your loan... and honestly, that’s their biggest leverage over people. It might not be their only trick, but it’s certainly their most effective one. In my opinion—as unrealistic as it might sound—people need to find some other way to scrape the money together instead of falling for these kinds of loans. I mean, just look at the math. You see how much you're actually getting versus how much you end up paying back? It’s basically predatory lending, just wrapped up in a legal package. The only thing you could potentially try is going DIRECTLY to a local credit union where the actual funds are held, rather than dealing with these shady "offices." They might be able to work out a loan where you actually receive the full amount without those ridiculous "processing fees" and mandatory life insurance policies they tack on.
Boky gave you a decent breakdown. Those should be roughly the terms you're looking at, give or take a little. They’ll probably mandate life insurance, too, which is going to bite you right out of the gate with a premium of about $500 or so... Personally, I don't think it's worth your while. A real APR on a deal like this sits closer to 17%, maybe even higher depending on the term length... If you're looking to walk away with $50,000 in cash, they’re going to structure the loan for about $56,000. That extra $6,000 covers the fees and the mandatory insurance. Also, expect them to slap an administrative hold on your accounts. It doesn't matter if you already have other loans; the main thing is that your take-home pay has to equal or exceed the monthly payment. Basically, theoretically speaking, once this loan kicks in, they could technically withhold everything from your checking account just to cover the installment...
You're essentially paying a variable interest rate, just keeping it all strictly above board.
I felt 🤣 a bit frustrated yesterday when she shut down that one thread, which is why I’m posting here instead. They moved the discussion from the Detroit section—where everyone was talking about driver's licenses and penalties—over to the Legal subforum, only for her to snap it shut in record time, like an Olympic sprinter, with that classic "this topic already exists" excuse.
I mean, no shit. It’s not the original poster's fault if they moved the whole conversation to a different part of the site, especially since we were just discussing Fords and how the police handle traffic stops.
I mean, they basically own the Sun too at this point. Who cares which insurance company you pick? Whether it's State Farm or Agram, it’s all probably just one big family-run conglomerate if I’m not mistaken. 🙄 My experience with the local agencies has been... fine, I guess. They dragged their feet a bit and left me in the dark regarding the specifics, but once I mentioned I was bringing in a lawyer, they settled everything promptly.
I don't buy the argument that the court system is solely to blame here. Insurance companies need to operate under some kind of moral compass. If it’s obvious their policyholder is at fault, they should pay out without the games. If they don't want to act responsibly, they shouldn't have the license to operate—they can go deal with the city water department management themselves.
Absolute disaster. A complete joke. And yet, people actually try to defend these insurance companies. Disgraceful. 🤮
Honestly, I hear the most complaints about Adriatic, but I had no idea Euroherc was such a total dumpster fire of an insurer too. Where else is a person supposed to go? Everything is garbage...
