In our house, the junk drawer was basically just a catch-all for everything that didn't have a home—from Dad’s old toolset to random childhood toys. It's like a storage bin, but without the food. I always had this hunch my grandma just made the whole concept up.
My aunt used to tell me I had "mauldiaree." Subtly, of course. (It's some twisted slang for having spit all over your face or just being an unstoppable chatterbox.)

Oh, and the ashtray isn't just a little smoking nook—it's also an ash holder. A literal vessel for soot.

Maybe you’ll actually dig the rooms in my grandma's old house:
1. the kitchen
2. the bathroom
3. the pantry
4. the bedroom
5. the living room

I can't remember if she had some fancy name for the living area—we always just called it the "parlor," kinda classy I guess.

np Jefferson Airplane - White Rabbit
I can't listen to this track without thinking about that pure dread I felt back in Las Vegas.

🙂
A nightstand and a psycho aren't the same thing. This first one doesn't even have a mirror—it’s just a basic-ass nightstand, plain and simple as its name implies

np The Kinks - Sunny Afternoon 😍

1. Fuca
2. Tina Turner meets Brooke Shields' eyebrows
3. 3. techno-squirrel
4. Blue highlights on a short buzz cut
5. 5. Kokotica

5. Kokotica is peak fashion—honestly, I’d rock it tomorrow if I actually had time for a stylist who knew what they were doing. Went to an English class a few years back with this girl sporting a modern twist on the Kokotica look, and it was killer.

gentlepuma20 said:Top 2 books that drive me absolutely insane despite everyone loving them:
1. The Little Prince (ugh, kill kill kill)
2. Jonathan Livingston Seagull (ARGH KILLLL)

That seagull book is trash—but The Little Prince? It's great. Great. Great. End of discussion. 😁

And yeah, my top 5 names from classic American children's literature:
1) redcrane28 😁
2) Neva
2) Jaglenac
3) Potjeh
4) Woman (from the fisherman Palunko and his wife)
Underrated Albums - Top List in Music ·
The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs
Walkabouts - Devil's Road

I've stuck to albums that usually get labeled as the "all-time greats" for these artists—even though, personally, I don't buy it. Don't get me wrong, they're all somewhere between 'decent' and 'really good,' but they aren't the career-defining masterpieces everyone claims they are.

The Rolling Stones are hands down the most overrated rock band ever (though I do dig Exile on Main St.)—but it makes me wonder, why? There must have been some kind of magic in them right before I was born for them to become such a permanent fixture in the collective consciousness.
Sandra Chase16 said:Look, I don't care if we don't vibe over the same bands—as long as he isn't blasting Picasso while I'm trying to whip up Sunday dinner, we're fine.

Honestly, that might be the secret to my marriage lasting this long—my husband never picks the music. He just tells me to put something on if he feels like listening.

For example, Leonard Cohen - Tower of Song

Top 10 cigarette brands—here we go.

One Dunhill L.
Two Marlboros—if you can even find them.
Three Philip Morris US branches—just a heads-up.
Four Marlboros—just enough to get by.
Five Davidoff L—just five. Honestly? A bit much.
Six Lucky Strikes—just like that.
Seven Marlboro Cs—just like that.
8 camel L.
9 blondes—if that's how you spell it.
10 p.m. — absolute chaos.

Nothing from Gitanes?

Top 5 human virtues—if we’re actually being serious about this:
Patience—it’s a virtue, I guess—but honestly? It’s overrated.
2) humor
Loyalty—it’s a funny thing. Always complicated.
Unrestrained—just pure, raw freedom.
Generosity—honestly, it’s overrated. Everyone acts like being selfless is this grand virtue, but half the time it’s just performative nonsense—though, I guess some people actually mean it.
I’ve been with my guy for 15 years now—he treats music about the same way he treats American sitcoms on TV—it’s just background noise to him, maybe, or whatever.
For me, though? Music is everything.
He’s tolerant enough, so we make it work.

5 covers that actually beat the originals:
1) Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen)
2) M. Ward – Let's Dance (David Bowie)
3) Lambchop – This Corrosion (Sisters of Mercy)
4) Calexico – Corona (Minutemen—and please don't come for me over this one)
5) Mark Lanegan – BA de da (Fred Neil)
And honestly? That’s just the tip of the iceberg. If I think about Johnny Cash's 'American...' series, you could pull at least five more hits out of there—starting from Personal Jesus and moving down the line...

Then there are the covers that make you want to throw something at the artist—not just because they ruined a great song (which happens constantly), but because they actually had the nerve to convince people their version is the "real" one:
1) G'n'R – Knockin' on Heaven's Door (Dylan)
2) David Bowie and Tina Turner – Tonight (Iggy pop)
3) T.A.T.u. – How Soon Is Now (The Smiths)
...I can't remember any others. It's probably because I generally don't listen to garbage music—if it sucks, I forget it exists. But these were predictable. Even that T.A.T.u. track isn't that irritating; it's more just half-forgotten. They didn't quite manage to steamroll the original with their shitty version.
If I can only share a snippet, then I'll add those last three minutes from RHCP's Sir Psycho Sexy—since the first five aren't even instrumental anyway—but I’m sticking to my guns: Walking Distance is still the better track.

My top three most idiotic ways to wake up:
1) In a bathtub, realizing your parents are scrubbing you down after finding you passed out in a ditch three blocks from home—after they spent half a day hunting for you.
2) On a diving platform about 50 yards out at sea, fully dressed in evening wear—bone DRY—with zero clue how you got there or how to get back without ruining the suit (ended up hitching a ride on a jet ski passing by).
3) In a sleeping bag in a hotel parking lot, wedged between cars and nearly getting run over—even though the night before, you were dead certain you’d found the perfect hiding spot in the woods behind the hotel.

Author's note: One of these didn't happen to me—it was a friend.

Following that debate from a few days ago—where my own kids actually begged me to stop having girls—here are my top 3 female names: Mirta, Zora, and Josipa. I didn't include Dunja since I already have a daughter by that name

Like Dylan—something from that Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid soundtrack, can't recall the track title
Buzzcocks - Walking Distance

Best and worst concerts of the year? in Music ·
Watt is easily the best—just in a league of his own. I don’t usually go out of my way to listen to much, but man, his stage presence just totally hooked me. And Roessler was such a legend too.
Usually, I forget stuff pretty fast.

Try Tom Waits - All the World Is Green

I find Squire charming—in that specific way all those arrogant assholes seem to be until you actually meet them, of course. In person? Usually total jerks. Plus, I've got a soft spot for Stone Roses.
That said, the truly charming ones are always the pissed-off cynics and misanthropes. 😍

Wait, I just noticed the fine print under the image says:
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
You scored higher than 57% on deepness
You scored higher than 21% on angryness
You scored higher than 91% on niceness

me—nice?
