Have a wonderful week! I really loved so many of these albums—I think I actually cast as many as nine votes...
Anyway, I wanted to single out the ones I liked best—and in this exact order...

If you ask me—this album would definitely be the Album of the Week... bravo on the suggestion!

I just wanted to mention the Gorilla as well...
@quietbison86—just checking in... hope everyone is having a wonderful day!Oh, I know exactly where that album comes from—I absolutely love it! It’s so wonderful that you remembered it...
Hmm, I noticed the discussion around my suggestion died down a bit, so let me clarify why I picked it... To me, the Eagles are just perfect—honestly, Hotel California is my all-time favorite song—but it’s a little disheartening because I get the feeling 90% of people in my circle only know that one track, if they even know it at all. I once asked a friend to guess my favorite song, and when I finally told him, he just went, "Oh, talk about a one-hit wonder."
Well, those kinds of comments probably stem from the fact that I belong to a relatively younger generation—the Eagles basically blew up right around when my mom was coming of age 😬—so, you know...
That said, it feels like I'm surrounded by actual music aficionados here who definitely know much more than just Hotel California—so I figured, why not suggest this album and see what you all think? Maybe someone isn't even an Eagles fan or familiar with their catalog, and this album might actually be a pleasant surprise for them. That thought is what pushed me toward this pick.
For the record, during my short time on this thread, I've suggested a pretty diverse range of albums—Cooper, Golden Boy, Apparat, and now Hotel California—simply because my listening habits are all over the place! Sometimes I'll suggest a household name, and other times something totally obscure, since my playlist jumps between mainstream legends and indie acts that most people haven't heard of.
I didn't quite get around to listening to the albums from the last round, so I didn't want to vote for something I already listen to—it felt wrong to vote for, say, Sam Fender, whose album I've known and loved for ages—but what's the point? I'm here to discover new things, but I also don't want to sabotage great albums just because they're famous. For instance, albums by Isaak or The Rolling Stones are fantastic, so why wouldn't I vote for them? Just because they're well-known? Personally, I think any pressure regarding how to vote is silly, and honestly, winning isn't even the main goal here. Sure, it's nice to see your suggestion win, but seeing anyone's vote counts as a victory to me—it means something resonated with them, just like it did with me. (Oh, I have to use this chance to thank Amanda Robinson4 and Vanch for voting for Apparat! I was expecting zero votes for that one, so seeing two—especially from the mods—felt like a total win for me!)
At the end of the day, my point is that everyone should just vote for what they truly enjoy, whether it's Apparat or the Eagles. It really doesn't matter. If an album is mediocre or just bad, a big name won't save it (I mean, didn't System of a Down struggle despite the hype?) Likewise, if an album is genuinely good, a famous name shouldn't be a reason to snub it just so some unknown artist can take the lead.
So, there you go... 👍

Have a wonderful week, everyone! Animal Colllective, Gang of Youths, and Mötley Crüe really stood out to me this time—though I had to throw some votes toward Isaak and Elton too, since I absolutely adore them (I've known those albums for ages, so they aren't exactly "new discoveries" like the others)... plus, there are some gems on that Goldfrapp record, so they got my vote as well.
All in all, I really think Isaak has this in the bag—honestly, it would be totally deserved 👍

Larry Walker24 said:Where on earth did I say he was going to remove the partial selection because of that?! 🤦
🤦
Anyway—don't hold your breath. Just accept that you brought this on yourself... despite all the shouting and crying, there’s absolutely no way they're changing the partial selection.
Having zero cards doesn't mean a thing regarding the Eurovision song contest theme when you consider how many cards were handed out during the actual Eurovision theme over the last few years... it is what it is.
And as for accusing me of lying—you don't even deserve a rebuttal for that since it's just pure hyperbole—though I'm not entirely sure you'd follow my explanation if I actually tried 😒
So please, stop lying (regarding your response to the Eurovision fan), stop spamming, and just stop being a nuisance.
I'm stepping away from this argument now... 🥳 the American ESC community has made its stance clear.
👋
But look, the real point here—my friend—is that what matters most is having the support of the people from the Eurovision forum you're trying to rejoin... provided that, unfortunately for you, nothing goes wrong 😢
Do you seriously expect Casilda to drop those charges just because AndrejX made a poster to support you?
Given your history with the community you're aiming to get back into... I'm honestly worried your wish might not come true.
How does that cringey old saying go? You reap what you sow
Well, there it is... that's the bottom line 👋
Morgan Peterson said:I just wanted to say that, of course, all the mods decide for their own Eurovision forum, and please don't take this as pressure—we all just love charity drives and a good joke.
At least I jumped on that bandwagon.
Just an apology, so there's no misunderstanding or hard feelings. 🙂
Look, I totally get the joke and everything 👍 But I know he doesn't get it—which just gives him more momentum to keep bothering Casilda every five days.
To all my lovely ladies who showed up to support
@Manchild—though I know most of you are just messing around, I don't want him getting a false sense of momentum...
I don't recognize a single one of you—which tells me nobody is actually hanging out in that Eurovision thread where
@Manchild tries to stir up drama every couple of months just to get his privileges back.
There is a perfectly good reason why Casilda, acting as moderator—along with the other five mods—hasn't lifted those restrictions on
@Manchild over there.
Why?
He's had countless chances, and honestly, it’s a miracle he hasn't been hit with a permanent ban yet—let alone still being allowed to run wild here...
Show some support for Casilda and the rest of the mod team for keeping those bans in place! 👍 And if you truly find
@Manchild entertaining or cool—assuming anyone here is actually being serious—then go ahead, find him in other threads where he's posting incredibly engaging stuff every single day!
👋
Casilda, what's the issue?
You don't even need an answer from Casilda on that. No one cares about your defense of that Eurovision thread. When are you going to come up with actual arguments instead of recycling the same old tired lines? Just stop being annoying...
Review of Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga:
Possible spoilers!!!!!
Since I'm not really the type who can just switch my brain off during a movie—swallowing all the plot holes while still having a good time—I didn't particularly enjoy this one. Based on the trailer, I was bracing for disaster, but once the film actually dropped, the reviews were decent (even here on the forum!), so I thought maybe I had it wrong. My hopes were up, but I ended up getting a reality check instead. I don't know... maybe I'm just way too into Eurovision, and it honestly bugs me when the contest is portrayed as something it isn't. From the Russian entry being a total catastrophe yet somehow the favorite, to almost every other terrible song... then there's the scoring in the semi-finals acting like it's the grand finale (???) followed by the finalist announcement... And the scoreboard! It looked like something an elementary schooler designed. Just a massive amount of errors—Spain gets 12 points and stays at the bottom, Latvia and a few other countries showing up twice on the scoreboard, and America isn't even there until they suddenly grab some points... Basically, it was just too much horror for me. I didn't find it particularly funny (aside from a few jokes about the Volva and those Greek statues), but I certainly wasn't laughing until I cried. Someone mentioned that this movie isn't making fun of Eurovision, but I have to disagree. If you were someone watching this without knowing anything about the contest, you'd walk away thinking it was one giant mockery. The film tries to be a comedy, a drama, and a musical all at once, but it ends up landing as a parody. The acting is fine—Ferrell is being himself, of course—and Rachel is excellent. America looks beautiful...
The songs (except for Husavik) are all pretty awful. Honestly, egg Ding Dong was my second favorite, lol.
Demi Lovato's role and that whole ghost farce... 🤦
Will I watch it again? Possibly. Do I feel like watching it again anytime soon? No. Would I recommend it to others? Well, tastes vary... Watch it for yourself and decide.
Casey Bennett said:Did you get a hold of Nice and shoot over the link to that previous post? If you haven't done it yet, just get it done—but if you already did, then just do it again. 😉
I sure did—sent it right after you guys confirmed everything!
All good, I'll send it one more time
Thanks!
Hi everyone—I’ve been waiting about two weeks now for a response, but I haven't heard a peep... any idea where things might have gone sideways?
Hi there! I’m looking to change my username to Bubby. My mobile browser is acting up right now—not your fault at all, just my phone being difficult—so please forgive me if the name is already taken... If it is, I'd be happy to go with BubbyB instead, if that works for everyone!
Thanks 🙂
BubbyB works for me. Just reach out to Nice...
Can anyone tell me if there are any good spots to train Kung Fu around the West Coast?
thanks...
