I guess Americans just love making fools of themselves with Eurovision, though I suppose it’s a bit surprising it hasn't crossed their minds until now... 😁

I've been a die-hard Eurovision fan since '93, basically following it religiously since then (first time I caught it was back when it was held in NYC in 1990)

I've actually got every single CD from 1956 and all the DVDs too—well, the originals starting from 2004

I absolutely love Eurovision—it’s easily my favorite time of year. As far as the movie goes, if nothing else, I'm just hoping for some solid marketing for Eurovision. Not that the contest actually needs the help, but still 😁

I guess they finally dropped the full trailer, though I'm not entirely sure if I should be feeling anything about it or just waiting for the inevitable disappointment. Maybe it'll actually live up to the hype, but I wouldn't exactly hold my breath.

They seriously need to export some of that nonsense beyond their own borders because they've been nicknamed "dumbfuckinstan" for way too long now, so let's just go ahead and push it out there a bit.
The European Union 😁 It’s honestly pretty pathetic when your entire national history is younger than most of the buildings you see across the European Union.

Honestly, looking at this director's track record, I wasn't exactly expecting a masterpiece, but man... this is just bad. Like, genuinely terrible. How do you even mess up this badly?

Will Ferrell is basically the Tommy Wiseau of comedy—just incredibly annoying. Honestly, I doubt I’ll even sit through this absolute joke of a movie.

Man, what a trailer, what a plot. I can hardly wait to see CinemaSins tear this one apart XD

Honestly, they’re about ten years too late with this idea, IMO. I guess it took that long for someone to actually throw some cash at it.
It’s not even the old Eurovision or Will Ferrell we used to know, right?

Based on the trailer, the humor feels just as bad as that Sherlock Holmes disaster from a few years back.

I can't speak to Ferrell's take—but honestly, hasn't Eurovision reached an all-time high in terms of popularity? It’s become quite the phenomenon, isn't it? The most-watched non-sporting event on the planet, pulling in "only" about 200 million viewers every single year.😁

I have never once sat through a single minute of Eurovision in my entire life. Can you actually believe that? Honestly, the only way I’ve ever seen it is through news clips and random highlights on TV.

I have no idea what the point of this thread is or why everyone is making such a massive deal out of this movie, but I can tell you one thing for sure: I won't be watching.

This looks like it’s going to be an entertaining film—much like the competition itself. It should serve as excellent PR for Eurovision, which honestly remains the greatest show ever made, don't you think?😎

Review of Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga:

Possible spoilers!!!!!

Since I'm not really the type who can just switch my brain off during a movie—swallowing all the plot holes while still having a good time—I didn't particularly enjoy this one. Based on the trailer, I was bracing for disaster, but once the film actually dropped, the reviews were decent (even here on the forum!), so I thought maybe I had it wrong. My hopes were up, but I ended up getting a reality check instead. I don't know... maybe I'm just way too into Eurovision, and it honestly bugs me when the contest is portrayed as something it isn't. From the Russian entry being a total catastrophe yet somehow the favorite, to almost every other terrible song... then there's the scoring in the semi-finals acting like it's the grand finale (???) followed by the finalist announcement... And the scoreboard! It looked like something an elementary schooler designed. Just a massive amount of errors—Spain gets 12 points and stays at the bottom, Latvia and a few other countries showing up twice on the scoreboard, and America isn't even there until they suddenly grab some points... Basically, it was just too much horror for me. I didn't find it particularly funny (aside from a few jokes about the Volva and those Greek statues), but I certainly wasn't laughing until I cried. Someone mentioned that this movie isn't making fun of Eurovision, but I have to disagree. If you were someone watching this without knowing anything about the contest, you'd walk away thinking it was one giant mockery. The film tries to be a comedy, a drama, and a musical all at once, but it ends up landing as a parody. The acting is fine—Ferrell is being himself, of course—and Rachel is excellent. America looks beautiful...
The songs (except for Husavik) are all pretty awful. Honestly, egg Ding Dong was my second favorite, lol.
Demi Lovato's role and that whole ghost farce... 🤦

Will I watch it again? Possibly. Do I feel like watching it again anytime soon? No. Would I recommend it to others? Well, tastes vary... Watch it for yourself and decide.

It’s definitely full of plot holes, random filler, and parts that just drag on forever... but there are a few solid moments that save the whole experience. If they had just put in even a tiny bit more effort, this could have been way better than what we got.

I had a wonderful time watching this. While the movie isn't exactly a masterpiece, it serves as such a charming homage to the campy spirit of Eurovision. I haven't personally followed the contest in years, though I have a family member who watches it with almost religious devotion, so I occasionally find myself tuning in just to see what the fuss is about. Personally, I am often left stunned by the sheer scale of the production and wondering just how much all those lights and sets must cost; besides, most of the performances strike me as absolute trash—and I truly don't mind trash, far from it! However, I find it absolutely brilliant how often the outsiders manage to pull off a massive success.
That is precisely why I found the film so endearing. It pokes fun at the whole spectacle while still maintaining a genuine heart.
It feels as though Ferrell is mostly poking fun at Americans here rather than Europeans. Also, that bit about Russia having absolutely no sense of style was quite a clever touch. 🤣

I actually found that part involving Demi Lovato to be quite funny, even though, truth be told, I didn't even know who she was until they mentioned her name. 😬
