A buddy of mine is running this rig: Intel Core i3 2 x 2 GB PC3-10600 DDR3 ASUS M4A77T motherboard 750 GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce (256 MB DDR2)
His graphics card finally died on him recently—it was about 7 or 8 years old. He picked up this replacement, but now the games he used to play (like Far Cry 4 or Call of Duty) are totally stuttering...
The PC actually sat unused for a few years. He just started using it again after that old GPU gave out, and he grabbed this one (he claims it's new, but who knows true?...) He doesn't care about heavy gaming that much, just plays occasionally. He wants to run Windows 10.
Anyone got advice on what to upgrade? Maybe a 120GB SSD and 4GB of RAM... would that be enough to handle Windows 10?

And honestly? You aren't going to be happy running Windows 7 on a modern PC. Even if you somehow track down every single driver... there's always going to be issues.
Just forget about Windows 7...
I tried installing from a USB stick, but once it starts, I hit that error mentioned above and everything just freezes up...
Just picked up a new PC and tried installing Windows 7. Since there’s no disc drive, I made a bootable USB instead. Plugged the drive in, set the BIOS/UEFI to boot from USB... everything starts fine, then it just hits a wall with this error:
"A required CD/DVD device driver is missing." And then it follows up with: "You need to install a required CD/DVD device driver. If you have a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive with the driver, insert it now. Note: if the Windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can remove it at this step without any issues"
I think I’m heading back to Windows XP... honestly, I could find everything with my eyes closed back then. Everything was just right where it needed to be. This "Google" on 7 is just clunky. When I plug in an external drive and need to find something, I just right-click the drive or the specific folder and get it done instantly. It's the fastest way. This whole "indexing" thing is a headache... I'm constantly swapping out drives and changing files, so it feels like I'd be waiting on indexing every single time.
I just made the jump from Windows XP to Windows 7 and I'm running into some issues. Back in Windows XP, if I wanted to find something in a specific folder, I could just right-click the folder and hit search... done in one step. Can I set that up in Windows 7? I know there’s that search bar next to the Start button, but it feels way too clunky. Too many clicks...
Also, in XP, I could easily access "recent documents" right when I clicked the Start button. Is that an option in Windows 7 too?
Look, don't waste your damn energy trying to sit there and crunch numbers, calculating how many times you've rolled over a certain amount and all that nonsense... I actually scored an incredible deposit bonus at Bet365 once—they sent me this specific code via private message, and I had to punch it in right when I was making the deposit. If I remember right, it was a 100% match up to $150, maybe about six months ago. Yeah, you still had to hit the rollover requirements a few times before everything cleared... but honestly? Just play. Don't stress yourself out over the math. Just hit that withdraw button whenever the mood strikes; the site always tells you exactly how much cash you're allowed to pull out. Once you've successfully "rolled" through their little gift bonus, it'll show you that you can withdraw the whole damn balance from your account.
By the way, live betting on Bet365, DraftKings, and BetMGM is light-years ahead of those local US bookies we have here. It’s not even about the interface or how pretty it looks—it’s the sheer depth of the betting options. And don't even get me started on the deposit limits at the local spots... it's freaking ridiculous.
How do I get Excel to show me a count of how many cells actually have data at the bottom of my table? For example, if I have a row of 30 cells filled with various info, I want a total at the bottom that tells me exactly how many cells aren't empty (without me having to count them one by one manually)... just not using autosum
Finally back after a 2-year hiatus from the fitness subforum 😢 I’ve been staying active—you know, keeping the momentum going—but definitely not at the level I used to be.

If you don't know actual striking technique (which is painfully obvious from your previous posts), then stop swinging at everything. Just go to a gym and ask how to actually hold your fist, what angle to use, where your fingers should be, and which part of the bag you're supposed to hit—basically, get some damn training. Don't listen to those forum bios, and quit watching those YouTube clips.Look, instead of sitting around, just walk into a gym or some fitness club and ask someone to actually show you how it's done properly. 🙂
I hate doctors. Seriously, go get an X-ray for that wrist. I know two people who've been stuck in casts for three months because of this amateur-hour nonsense. All that sloppy hitting leads to a fractured scaphoid bone. It might not seem like a big deal right now, but you're looking at improper healing and a thumb that won't even work properly later. Throwing a punch isn't nearly as simple as it looks. People trip up constantly, and then they end up paying way too much for their little "experiments." Just one or two months hitting the heavy bag after getting some actual, professional guidance? That’s all you need. It's enough to make sure you never screw up like this again. 🙂
I took some photos today—two different angles—and had two doctors look at them, and they didn't see any actual damage from the trauma. My wrist just feels weak and only hurts at certain angles.
I did a little digging on this "scaphoid bone" thing, and honestly, it doesn't even seem like a real thing.
I seriously can’t believe I managed to reinjure my wrist just by playing some damn chess 🙄—I kid you not. I was down to my last 10 seconds on the clock and had to start frantically clicking moves, and at one point I practically lunged out of my chair like someone had just shoved a combat knife straight into my joint. I was twitching and cramping for several minutes straight after that...
Honestly, it feels even more disgusting now than it did the day right after the initial injury. I’ve got this freaking bandage wrapped around it just to try and hold the joint together, but it’s actually looking a bit more swollen this time around. It’s getting to the point where I can barely turn the steering wheel in my car. Probably just some stretched ligaments or something. Might head over to see my doctor tomorrow if it doesn't chill out.
At this rate, I'm praying that in maybe five months I'll be able to get back to doing push-ups and basic training exercises... hitting the heavy bag? Yeah, that's definitely not happening anytime soon... dammit.

🙏 I'm not gonna be preaching it, and honestly, I won't even be posting that much anyway. Much appreciated, jadetiger962, for being cool about it.
So, I’ve been banned from the recreation subforum for about two years now.
The moderator lineup over there has shifted around quite a bit, but honestly—and this is the bigger thing—I just don't have any desire to dig up old drama. I’m not interested in touching anything that used to trigger endless arguments, massive misunderstandings, or just plain old headaches. It's not worth the energy.
Anyway, there you have it. Short, sweet, and simple.
Matthew Ruiz8 said:He isn't breaking any rules here. People only start breaking rules when they feel like they're being banned for nothing, and maybe the mod just phrased things poorly. rustydrifter10 said no, and that's the final word, but I was just stating my opinion above.
Yeah, you nailed it. It’s honestly so stupid—he can't be banned just because someone asks, but the second someone starts throwing insults about family or nationality, suddenly it's all over. Makes zero sense. It’s definitely for commercial reasons; they want to be able to brag, "Look how many members we have!" while ignoring the fact that 90% of them don't even post. Whatever gets them those ad dollars, I guess. 🤣
Let him take it to the Supreme Court for all I care. If a guy doesn't want to be part of something, he should be able to leave. In any normal American club or organization, you'd just get your membership papers and walk away.
Matthew Ruiz8 said:Come on, don't go citing him for breaking forum rules. :/
Personally, I think if he wants to be banned himself, then just let it happen. He’s clearly doing this as a protest. We can't all be happy with everything; there are all kinds of people here. If someone was allowed to change their username once, and we only get one shot at that, then they should just allow this too. It takes five minutes of work, but hey, let them have their way.
That's just my take, though. The moderators don't actually have to listen to him.
Look, the Mod already made it clear: demanding a permanent ban is actually a violation of the rules itself, so that request is dead in the water. Period. We have to stick to the rules, no matter how much it sucks or how harsh it feels.
casualwolf12 said:Personally, I am sitting here hoping that this individual is currently on their third consecutive day of drafting the most nauseating post in history—one so egregious it earns them a lifetime ban from every single forum across the entire internet.🍿
That’s actually solid advice right there. Just try not to get too aggressive, though—you don't want Interpol knocking on your door before you're finished.
Go ahead and actually read the banning rules and tone down the language enough to qualify for a permaban.
That way, you’ll get banned properly instead of just being such a chaotic mess that breaks so many rules at once the mods can't even figure out how to kick you. You're just giving them unnecessary headaches by acting like this; if you actually followed the community standards and the forum rules, Mr. Moderator wouldn't have nearly as much trouble dealing with you.
Zachary Mendoza17 said:Maybe you need to figure out exactly which part of the fist makes contact. When hitting this bag, I’d suggest using a rear straight punch. Rotate through with your hips and legs, then extend the arm almost all the way. That's how you get power—by putting your whole body weight behind it. Just remember: use the rear straight, watch your contact point, and engage your entire body. You'll see the difference. Look up proper rear straight techniques on YouTube and try applying that. In the meantime, leave that hand alone. I wouldn't recommend hitting the same spot again for maybe two weeks. Otherwise, you're just going to wreck an already injured hand.
I actually charged in with a 2-3 step lead and put my whole damn body into it, but obviously, my hand position and grip weren't strong enough to take the impact.
I've seen pros do it before—that hip rotation, coming from the shoulder, fully extended arm... everything is synchronized.

Yeah, well, I should probably warm up for maybe half an hour first. Two months seems a bit overkill for a single punch; I'm not exactly training for the World Championships here.
As for the injury—it barely hurts when I'm doing normal everyday stuff, so I’ll only bother heading to the doctor if things don't start looking better in the next month or so.
