I totally agree—there are plenty of interesting individuals and small groups out there, plus friends who show up to support them—which is great—but I just don't see an actual... scene.
Sure, there are a few big players, but space is tight and there’s zero consistency... You constantly hear whispers about something concrete starting up, but nothing ever actually materializes.
I mean, seriously—what’s stopping Matthew and Bryan 😬 from playing a gig once a week at some cool local pub? Is it a lack of recognition for the music or what? Most people—the general public—are more familiar with bands like Blackburn Rovers or those similar Irish-folk cover acts.
Then, they could naturally work in some original stuff along the way... I was just chatting with a colleague yesterday about how awesome it would be if this happened more often, and in more places... much like what happened last night.
Now *that* would look like a real scene, for both the big names and the little guys 🧐
Honestly, the quality of DJing in America is pretty much hitting rock bottom right now.
I mean, just look at those so-called "club nights"—where they don't even bother with a real repertoire, but instead stick to the exact same ORDER OF TRACKS (!!!) for months on end—it’s just zero creativity. Anything else—like a DJ who actually gives a damn about their craft and genuinely loves the music—is basically a drop in the ocean and the rare exception that proves the rule.
Kelis' Milkshake isn't half bad—really quite catchy—and Billy Idol's Cradle of Love is honestly one of those timeless classics for me. And if my memory serves—which isn't always the case!—there was this Dire Straits track called heavy Fuel from the early 90s featuring a total American bombshell in the music video; she looked so natural in those hot shorts, it was like they were made just for her!
Yeah—body hair, spanking, boots, and all that other stuff the youth are obsessed with lately.
Seriously though—you could write entire academic studies on this topic alone—but let’s not get carried away right now.
But look, you know a woman is really a woman when she has decently smooth hands—or maybe some sweet, light, barely-there sideburns or a little fuzz. If that's the case, just imagine everything else that might be waiting for you (assuming you're one of the lucky winners!).
Granted—those little hairs carry a certain devilish dimension with them—some kind of dark magic, I suppose... but a true enthusiast accepts that risk from the start!
🙂
PS: Just don't mention the hair or how sexy it is to them—there's a high chance they'll take it the wrong way and decide to shave it all off, and then things just get too thick. Like what happened at Siesaj Las Vegas last week.
