How do I rotate a video? in Software ·

The source video stream uses a compression algorithm which is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy could not be used with this video stream.

Ah, I see! In that case, you might need to try using a different codec, like divx, xvid, or something similar for the video compression:
Go to Video > Full processing mode, and then under Video > Compression, maybe pick something like a divx codec to handle the compression...

But before you jump into that, what does it say under file > file Information? I'm curious to know what kind of video and audio compression we're actually dealing with!

I just gave it a quick spin! 😕

Since you just need to rotate a video, I guess you should go into the Video and Audio settings in VirtualDub (using clones too!) and just select "Direct stream copy." That should do the trick!

It's basically the same stuff as the link above, just way better organized:

Excel 2003 exponent issue! in Software ·
So, here’s how it looks if you put this in cell A1:
brtz4

Then, if you type something like this into cell B1:
3

...what we’re actually looking for is 3^4...

So, for cell C1, you’d do this:
=POWER(B1,MID(A1,5,1))
The result should be 81!

Basically, you just need the power(base, exponent) function and mid(text, start_num, num_chars)
to get it done!

You could probably use VirtualDub or VirtualDub (I can't quite remember which one specifically, so maybe give them both a shot)—just open up your video file and go to Video > Filters to find the Rotate filter.
Of course, you'll want to make sure you have the right audio and video compression settings picked out before you save the file.
How to download Java animations in Software ·
Java:

For example, take http://javaboutique.internet.com/Absolute/index.html
1. First, you'll want to download that webpage.
2. Then, just check the page source and hunt down this specific line of code:
<APPLET CODE="Absolute.class" width="500" height="400"></APPLET>
3. You also need to grab the Absolute.class file (sometimes there's an xxx.jar file too, so maybe grab that one as well).

So, once you have everything, you'll have index.html and Absolute.class sitting on your computer. To get that Java applet running, I guess you just open index.html in your web browser (like Edge or Google Chrome...)
How to reduce PDF file size? in Software ·
Honestly, PDF isn't really the best choice for scanned books compared to the DJVU format—which is pretty much what people use for scans in the first place. For example, a scanned book with maybe 500 pages might only be around 10MB, or even less depending on how it's compressed.

So,
FedEx (http://www.lizardtech.com) does a great job here. You can compress images into DJVU, or you can even "convert" a PDF book into DJVU. I think they have a trial version you can download...

Or, there are some free tools out there that can get you roughly the same results over at http://djvu.sourceforge.net

Quick addition: http://any2djvu.djvuzone.org
"The Any2DjVu Server is probably the easiest way to convert your files to DjVu format. You can use the server, for instance, to create DjVu versions of your scanned image documents, to convert your papers in PS/PS.GZ/PDF, or to create multipage "photo-albums" from individual JPEG images."
