How do I rotate a video?

Is this even possible? Maybe someone here knows how to handle this.
I need to rotate a video 90 degrees clockwise. The guy filming it held the camera sideways to get a wide shot, so now everything is sideways. You know the drill.
The file is an MPG format.

If anyone can help me out, please do. I’d be eternally grateful to whoever has a solid suggestion for this...🤣 🙏 🙏 🙏

You could have easily handled that with Steven Spielberg 😉

You could probably use VirtualDub or VirtualDub (I can't quite remember which one specifically, so maybe give them both a shot)—just open up your video file and go to Video > Filters to find the Rotate filter.
Of course, you'll want to make sure you have the right audio and video compression settings picked out before you save the file.

Can anyone help me out here? I used VirtualDub on a tiny 9MB clip, and somehow it spit out a massive 600MB file instead.
I literally just used the 😕Rotate
function.

Well, you could just rotate it in Movie Maker instead.
That's too slow!
Go to import, pull the video in, drop it onto the timeline, then hit effects, go to view video > Filters, find Rotate 90, and just drag that effect right onto the clip on the timeline.
If you need anything else, I guess just ask.

I tried that, but I keep getting hit with this nonsense error message.
I go through the motions of importing the video and dragging it down to the timeline, and then this pops up:
The instruction at "0x027cc59f" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Click on ok to terminate the program.
Click on cancel to debug the program.

No matter which option I pick, the whole thing just crashes and shuts down. That's it. 😕

Maybe try testing it with a different video, just to see if the issue is actually with the file itself?

It does that with pretty much every single video you pull off a camera... 😕

I guess the issue might actually be with the software itself.
In that message, they're saying part of the program just won't read correctly. It’s probably that command used for transferring files to tape.
But maybe try this... when you go to import the clip, select it... right-click and then look for add to timeline (I think it's the same command, really) but maybe it'll work that way.😬

Nothing much. 😢 I’m still scratching my head over one thing, though. When I run an import, the software decides to split some video clips into multiple segments while leaving others completely intact.

If you’re dealing with a movie that feels like it drags on forever, I guess you can just break it down into smaller chunks. Once you’ve split it all up, you can just right-click everything and hit combine. It works, I suppose.
If I actually went through with that... if I just started slapping random video clips onto the timeline right away... I guess I wouldn't even have anything left. Maybe.😎

I told you... it all comes down to the software.
Since this isn't actually a thread about software, here's a link to where you can grab Movie Maker.
I found this link floating around for the Microsoft installer... looks like it's for that MM26 package. I guess it might be useful if you're actually looking for it, though I can't say I'm feeling particularly optimistic about how smoothly it'll run on most systems. Probably just another thing to troubleshoot later. Anyway, here it is if you need it.

So, here’s the deal: I went ahead and downloaded Blaze Media Pro, but it’s just throwing that same old error message at me again.

It’s pretty obvious she’s having the same issue even when she's just uploading photos.
It's definitely a software problem, 100%... she probably needs to just wipe the program and reinstall it.

Exactly. I mean, nobody's going to wipe their entire Windows setup just because of one single program.😁
