Sure, they got their national healthcare and cheaper meds
Low crime, cleaner air, the whole nine yards
Then again, well, they got Celine Dion

It really pulled the whole room together

Alright, alright wicked woman

Goddamn southern heat.

everything you need to know about me

man, that Thursday night with Arsen and way too much whiskey was something else.

If it weren't for that local pub trivia night, I probably would have never even heard the name quietbison86. Honestly, you never stop learning things while you're alive.👍

Nick Cave put out an absolute masterpiece; I’ve known this record inside and out for years.

I love System, and honestly, this is their best work, hands down. Everything else they've done just feels like garbage compared to this.

This is pure art, honestly. It’s beautiful.

I should probably try putting this through the grinder and see how it holds up against the album of the week.

I really hope all thirteen of those keys actually showed up!

Straight-up rock fury

I think I might have posted Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell - Ballad of the Broken Seas once before, but it didn't really catch on.

Or maybe I just thought about posting it and then changed my mind at the last second for something else.

The Department of Justice is finally acting like a balm on a wound today.

Good old Ministry; honestly, nothing beats a little industrial music.

fortunate son

I've been thinking about how much that whole Vietnam War actually shaped American music and cinema.

I’d probably drop a massive chunk of cash just to catch a show right about now. 😁

Henry Campbell5 said:It really ought to be the Album of the Month. We could have people making suggestions for a week, then a week of voting, followed by two weeks of actual discussion. That way, we’d actually listen to the music instead of just circling the drain, giving us something real to talk about. Honestly, if someone is genuinely hyped about a record, why wouldn't they just start their own thread for it? If you aren't willing to put in that effort, why even suggest it in the first place? Maybe include a short review when submitting a pick. We could spend half the month debating the merits of the candidates and the other half diving deep into the winning album, picking up a ton of new insights along the way.

I think this is a solid idea. Count me in.

We've got 14 albums on the table, yet the threads discussing last week's picks only have two comments apiece?

There's really no point in doing this if we're just running a poll and then letting it die without any actual discussion afterward.

Disembowelment - Dusk & Deep Sensory Procession into Aural Fat (2020)

b. The Tree of Life and Death (33:22)
5. Burial AT Ornans (42:03)
6. as Your Soul Befalls (54:35)

The original record is widely viewed as one of the foundational pillars that kickstarted the whole death/doom genre. This version just features a slightly more polished production, though it’s still 👍

that intro was killer, easily your best one yet!

It isn't easy; it’s a massive uphill battle. 😁

Live in Flint, Michigan

I ended up having to trim down a massive thread about Tom—it was over 10,000 characters before I cut it back to fit the limits.

The Captains would be drumming at home if they could.

I mentioned it to John Smith today, but he wasn't having any of it; we'll see if things change tomorrow. 👍
