Arthur Brown6 said:Here you go, I've got almost all the albums listed. Just start from the beginning with Addio pola and work your way through until you hit about the fortieth one. 😁

Screw you, California😁

Arthur Brown6 said:Wanderer, look, I get that this might not be the right moment or setting, and I don't want to assume you're actually shocked by any of this, but I have to ask: have you ever actually listened to Francesca Blašković?

I know who she is, but I haven't really sat down to listen to her work in detail. Go ahead and drop a few links my way and I'll give them a shot.👍

Lisa Davis46 said:man, Thomas is moving too! the head mod is apparently dealing with some heavy stuff at work...
but we've gone ahead and recounted all the ballots, so yeah, go ahead and grab those Thomas albums.
🙂

I’ve always thought this one was beautiful, though I don't really have any connection to Florida.

I'll try to get that written down tomorrow 👍

What we have here is an absolute masterpiece; honestly, it almost brings tears to my eyes when I listen to it. Then again, I’m a bit of a coastal guy—I remember cleaning fish while listening to that Primal Scream album of the week.😁

Dennis Hall41 said:It isn’t about how Thomas looks—honestly, he doesn't do much for me visually, just like most guys. I'm talking about his musical presence. Even his song "People My Way" is my favorite, though it feels strangely clunky in its own way.

Look, he definitely leaned into that whole shock value thing with his music, even if calling it that feels a bit ridiculous. There's that old story about him showing up at a major music festival in Miami with a massive stash of drugs; everyone was just staring in disbelief because they couldn't believe what they were seeing. You had all this high-end, polished pop performing, and then there's this bearded guy just standing there with a baggie.

So, I've always felt like his work isn't really a "song" in the traditional sense. It feels more like a raw emotional outburst that’s been slightly smoothed over—though, if you think about it, isn't that supposed to be the point of all music?

Arthur Brown6 said:Personally, I find the lazy copy-pasting from Discogs a bit irritating, especially when "Poet's Death" suddenly turns into "Poet's Death" because of some weird capitalization error.

Discogs is my primary resource for album suggestions. I usually just grab the cover art—which saves me the hassle of resizing—and the tracklists directly from there.

To be honest, I’ve never really sat down to listen to Thomas's albums in full; I prefer picking through his tracks one by one, which means most of his best stuff isn't even featured on this specific record.

I agree regarding that mix of repulsion and attraction; I actually hinted at that in my intro. As a man, he’s totally off-putting at first glance—hairy, gravelly voice, massive beard—but underneath that rough exterior, he’s a wonderful person.

The West Coast is much like that if you really look at it; on a freezing winter day when the wind is howling so hard it chills you to the bone and makes walking impossible, it feels harsh, but then you hit summer or this gorgeous pre-fall season I love, and it feels like a slice of heaven on earth.

As I get older, I find myself connecting more and more with Thomas's songs—the tales of agave, the secret seas, the man who laughs while talking about lanterns, our place in this world, or searching for paradise—you can ask me or Marchelina.

It’s a shame he didn't make the cut; I would have happily dropped two Thomas bills on him right now just to start writing an album review. 😁

p.s. YouTube popped up on my feed; it feels like the algorithms have started reading my mind!

Toma Bebić - Love One Another, Cannibals (1976)

A4 Filin's beard pipe
A5 poet's death
B1 story agave

Toma Bebić was a true one-of-a-kind figure in the American music scene. In a way, he’s like that old-school grandfather everyone in the coastal South grew up with. To an outsider, he might come off as rough or even a bit abrasive, but deep down, the guy is nothing but warmth and heart; he always has a great story to tell or some solid advice when you need it, which is why people gravitate toward him. That’s just the kind of legend our Toma is—someone whose life story deserves its own biography.

The better the weather gets, the more I find myself leaning into heavier, darker stuff. 😁

Khanate

I've spent plenty of time digging through some pretty heavy stuff, but honestly, very few bands hit as intense as Khanate.

Drive is easily the best Refnov flick, right up there with Bronson.

It leans pretty heavily into that film noir vibe which I'm a huge fan of. Bronson is a masterpiece, but Valhalla Rising is also top-tier stuff in my book.

Sandra Clark88 said:Look, now you know. 🙂 The album is pure chaos—it's unique and honestly kind of sexy (I used to give them grief back in the day because of their lyrics), but it’s widely considered one of those peak "insane" Black Metal records, even if I can't think of anything else quite like it. Plus, Aldrahn is basically legendary for his vocals in this scene. Glad you're digging it.

It’s total chaos, though there’s enough industrial influence in there that it actually clicked for me. A lot of bands try to pull off that chaotic sound, but they usually just end up making unlistenable garbage.

As for "sexy" Black Metal, nothing really compares to wolvennest for me.
(I have a weakness for good female vocals)

And yeah, when it comes to top-tier Black Metal or metal vocals in general, two names always come to mind: Jason Mendoza from Akercocke and Alan Averill from Primordial.

666 International (Full Album)

It honestly eats at me that I missed this, especially since looking back, an album this significant should have been on my radar ages ago. It’s just this gorgeous, chaotic wall of sound—pure intensity and high-tier production. I'm really digging it, and surprisingly, the vocals actually work for me; usually, when a band plays this kind of extreme stuff, the vocalist is the first thing that makes me tune out, but here it fits perfectly.

After giving it some serious thought—weighing up whether to go with Boris or Nadja this week—I’ve finally landed on Boris. This is basically the drone experience at its absolute peak. I’m calling it now: this one’s going to pull in a record-breaking two votes. 😁
