You can find a ton of footage on YouTube from various American leagues, including the Stanley Cup and League Cup, dating back to the 60s. It’s enough to show you exactly what the game used to look like, and honestly, it still looks like that in the lower divisions. Around here, that "kick and rush" style always gets a bad rap because people in this part of the country prefer a passing game. Or, I guess, they say they prefer it, since most modern American teams barely have two players who can actually control a ball and make a five-yard pass. Obviously, it wasn't like the ball was just flying from one box to the other for 90 minutes in the States, but long balls into the box from the center line—not even real crosses, really, just kind of loopy balls aimed at some big striker—were way more common. They'd either score or set someone else up. Another thing you see all the time is those shots from 20 or 25 yards out. People just let it fly at the slightest opening instead of working the wings or playing through the middle. And then there’s that classic long ball approach where you just try to get to the goal via the shortest route possible, whether people liked it or not. I suppose Wikipedia gives a quick breakdown of how that tactic evolved:

Basically, direct football. Personally, I’ve always had a soft spot for that style. Combined with the atmosphere in those American stadiums, it just had a certain vibe that you don't really get around here. Not every long ball results in a goal, just like a sequence of 10 or 15 passes doesn't necessarily mean you're more likely to score. It's pretty obvious that executing a successful passing play takes more skill than just booting a long ball, and you have to respect that. I just don't like it when passing becomes an end in itself, just for the sake of looking pretty.
Maybe selecting from a dropdown menu doesn't register as a new page view, but clicking through the main links does? More clicks equals more sponsors? It's probably just a conspiracy theory, but honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that's how they play it.
Can we please just bring it back already? It's crazy that some minor software glitch is actually breaking the forum and forcing them to pull it. It matters a lot to us users.

🙂
Total hit. 👍
Sarah Hayes96 said:Yeah, interesting. Both of you mentioned top songs that aren't actually Stevie's. 🙂 Actually, in Big Love, she doesn't just have a supporting role—she isn't even on vocals. Those female gasps at the end of the track were actually sung by Lindsey Buckingham. 🙂 In the video, Stevie mostly just dances a little. 😁
My top song would be Gypsy from 1982. The video is beautiful 😍, here's the link: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1z...ac-gypsy_music
That's also a fine song. It puts me in a very laid-back mood, I guess. 🙂
Haha, so basically, out of the two main women in Fleetwood Mac, she’s the better looking one. 😁 I don't really follow her solo stuff, but I guess Fleetwood Mac had some pretty solid songs. Little Lies is top tier. 😍
I recently caught that documentary about him on CBS. He seems more or less okay—at least he isn't some drug addict or anything like that—but musically speaking, he just feels like another clone in the R&B galaxy to me.
I'm glad they finally launched that channel. I don't mind if they broadcast archery, rhythmic gymnastics, field hockey, and stuff like that. I just think HBO is going to have to scale back on the commercial fluff because broadcasting all those niche sports costs money, and it’s hard to turn a profit on them. And HBO definitely isn't going to go bankrupt over their network, that's for sure. It's probably better to slot in a broadcast of some international event on an afternoon—especially if an American athlete or team is competing—rather than showing the seventh replay of the same MLS junior match. To me, that would be a decent programming mix.
Soccer is my favorite, personally, and I’d actually prefer it if one day MLS leaves the local networks and ends up on ESPN or some other service like Fox Sports that requires a subscription. I don't have DirecTV or CNN or any of that, and I'm not going to sign up just for two channels and a few games a month since I barely watch TV anyway. ESPN has potential, and they should aim to broadcast every domestic competition they can get their hands on (meaning various sports, not just soccer), along with our teams playing in European tournaments and different national teams. That way, they could balance the profitable stuff with the smaller sports that likely motivated them to start the channel in the first place. I want them to succeed.
In my opinion, this is the best Cleveland jersey they've ever produced. Honestly, I can't get over how sloppy the club crest and the Bank of America sponsor logo look on this one, but that vertical navy stripe—plus the collar—and having the crest centered on the chest just hits different. 🙏 It would be incredible if we could recreate a kit like this using modern fabrics and manufacturing tech. For an away version, I’d probably go with a navy base and swap the stripe to yellow. Yellow is the third color for the club, though it feels like it's almost never used.
