I think "Ting" is such a killer track. It hits different. She might not be a technical vocalist by any means, but I’ve always gravitated toward singers who lack polish but have that raw, goosebump-inducing grit in their voice. Those kinds of voices tend to rub people the wrong way, which is totally fine—Joanna Newsom is the perfect example. That bass line is freaking heavy, too. Super cool. She’s definitely not my type physically, but she’s got this dark, magnetic charisma, kind of like PJ Harvey or Patti Smith. Honestly, she probably has sharp metal teeth or something. Whatever, I love it. But like I said, I’d pick Kim Deal over her any day. If even she isn't your vibe (what is actually wrong with you guys?! :P), then go with Brian Wilson. yeah. :P
What's the beef with Kim Gordon, Robin Booth? Ha! :P Honestly, I totally screwed up because I meant to say Kim Deal on bass, but I always mix those names up! GRRRRRRR.
Jerry was just some stoned hippie, and honestly, the Grateful Dead are one of the worst bands ever (alongside Dire Straits and Iron Maiden), so I can't stand them. Look, I don't have any problem with you liking them, Kenneth Clark7, but I really do—I straight up hate them from the bottom of my soul. There.
That show absolutely wrecked me... I even picked up a broken drumstick afterward, still got it sitting on my shelf at home. June of 44 always felt a little too mellow for me, even though they could definitely hit hard when they wanted to. Personally, I’ve always been more about that deep rhythm in post/math rock than just the shredding. But man, they absolutely crushed it at The Fillmore, seriously impressive. 😁
Alright, alright, check out this dream lineup I just cooked up: Thom Yorke + Björk - vocals Jonny Greenwood - programming Thurston Moore - guitar Bernard Sumner - guitar Steven Drozd - drums Kim Gordon - bass Joanna Newsom - harp Regine Chassagne - accordion
And imagine Nigel Godrich and Dave Fridmann handling production
honestly, any band playing with Jerry Garcia deserves a long and painful death. supergroups are total garbage anyway; once you get a bunch of massive egos in one room, everything just goes to hell.
Man, you guys shouldn't have been ordering vegan food at 11 PM in downtown Chicago! Argh! My meal was actually awesome. The singer even drives this truck filled with fine art—you know, stuff like Picasso, Monet, Rembrandt... 🙂 maybe that’s why their sound is so experimental! 😉
And honestly, TNT is such an overrated album. The early stuff is predictably solid, but the latest one is total trash. I actually had to check AllMusic just to make sure the title was "It's All Around You."
I’ve had two mental breakdowns today. Just finally walked through my front door, argh. The guys took a total wrong turn, such an embarrassing situation 🙂 oh man, just awful. These two girls were totally leading them astray, and they're all just poor married dudes 🙂 Anyway, the concert was super cool, though I can't say I was paying full attention since I was in such a state of mental chaos. The guys are saying this was their best gig in the States so far, and they were just playing with Liars across Germany last week. Ah, Liars... Thanks to everyone who showed up. Mate, I didn't see you at the show... hope you made it. In all my rushing, I totally forgot to hit you up and let you know how everything went.
Aha, looks like I'm not the only one reaching out to this guy 🙂 He originally told me to swing by in May, but at this rate, I'm not holding my breath... As long as he actually shows up, I'm good.
Hey guys, pre-sale starts tomorrow. My bad for not dropping the tickets sooner, but last week was a total disaster for me. I really hope you all can make it to the show. The venue is incredible, and it’s such a shame they don't host more gigs like this anymore. Wilderness is absolutely killing it, and that new album leaking online? It's even better than their debut! Yeah!
