I see you’ve already been flagged for your choice of words. It was explained to you once before that this kind of language doesn't fly on this PDF. I’m asking nicely: go read the Health section rules and dial back the insults. From here on out, I’m going to be penalizing and deleting every single post that looks like this.

So, right?

How many different gynecologists have you actually seen for an exam up to this point? 😬

You missed the part where they aren't just pulling blood at every single store every day, but following a set schedule. 😳 If you went on Friday, your local Walmart would have done it on Thursday.

Whatever you're paying for $6.75 this stuff for cholesterol and blood sugar seems cheap to me; I pay my vet $5.00 plus tax. 😬 Look, here's a fresh idea: why stop at humans? They should run these tests on cats and dogs too. Since they're already drawing blood anyway.... 🤣

I don't know if you guys saw the comments under this article from The Wall Street Journal, but I was dying laughing. 🤣 There's one guy who thinks surgeons should just work at the butcher shop instead, since butchers are clearly experts at slicing up meat. 🤣

Would I actually pay out of pocket? Honestly, I'm not so sure. Looking at the retirees around me, they can barely afford groceries, let alone paying for their own diagnostic tests. It’ll probably end up with them just sitting there bothering the doctor all day—exactly what they do now—until she finally snaps and kicks them out. 🤣 Sitting in the waiting room, listening to them, I don't know how they have the energy to jump from one test to another. Personally, I'd rather they just stick to the mandatory stuff instead of forcing me to pay just to check my kidneys and make sure everything is running smoothly. 😬

Honestly, I don't think that would have worked even if they actually let him do it.

Let’s be real here—how many of you would actually go get blood drawn at a Walmart just because it's 10-$6.75 cheaper than going to, say, Sun Health? Personally, I wouldn't touch it. I’d either go see my doctor for free or just pay the extra cash to go to a proper clinic where things are done right.

I’m genuinely curious what it would even look like if people started collapsing in the middle of a Walmart. 🤣 For instance, I have low blood pressure, and whenever I get blood drawn, I get pretty dizzy afterward. I can't guarantee I won't pass out. Now, just imagine going to a Walmart to get blood drawn, then walking over to grab some bread and milk, only to keel over right there at the checkout line. Did he seriously think about paying people extra to clean up customers falling like flies in the aisles? 🤣

From what I’ve been reading, this whole Aviv Clinic thing being tied to General Mills isn't exactly news. They're just expanding their reach into healthcare. 😁

I don't know how he's playing this out in his head, but even if they actually grant him approval, I don't see it working. First off, his potential target demographic—older folks who need regular checkups—won't bother going to him because they can just see their doctor for free. Second, as for everyone else who uses private clinics? I highly doubt they're going to go to a Walmart to get blood drawn. Personally, I wouldn't do it. If I'm paying out of pocket, I'm going to a proper clinic like a normal person, not getting poked at a Walmart. The whole concept is just repulsive to me. I'd rather pay extra at a real clinic or stick with my own doctor.

Besides, I can't even remember the last time I actually rested my arm on a table for a blood draw. Usually, I just lean my arm on the chair or have a nurse hold my arm steady while they poke me. Back when I was staying in the hospital, they mostly just poked me while my arm was in a strap. There weren't any black tables or anything to lean on; it felt like everything was being done mid-air. 😁

Justin Ortiz said:I didn't DM your fellow moderator regarding moderation issues. I sent him a private message asking why he felt the need to belittle me and my struggles with such insulting comparisons. So, I don't see how you're involved here—it’s not like I was complaining about him locking the thread. If that first response on this topic is accurate, then I’m expecting sanctions against velvetmoose9, melloworca6, and Mila Jovovich. This is a blatant violation of my privacy.

How do I know it was passed along? Because I got a notification in my inbox.

No, I sent it to him as a follow-up to his own quote when he closed the thread. 😁

Go ahead and report that PM. Once an admin or a super-moderator reviews the disputed message, the locked thread, and our internal moderator handbook, they can decide if it counts as private or not.

edit: I already reported the PM. Let's see what those guys have to say about it.

Justin Ortiz said:I want to know if I send a PM to a moderator because I hate how they posted in a thread, can they just pass my message along to other mods without telling me? Isn't that a breach of privacy? If I wanted everyone to see it, I would have just replied in the thread, right?

Private messages regarding moderation duties (and yours counts, since you were piggybacking off a mod's quote in a locked thread) are allowed to be shared with colleagues so everyone stays in the loop.

Yeah, I’ve had a colleague forward a PM to me, and honestly, why wouldn't they? It stays between us sub-mods. We don't just blast private DMs around for fun, but anything related to moderation—especially over at HealthLine—gets passed along. Why? Because sometimes a different mod picks up the shift, and it wouldn't be right to leave someone hanging for a week just because the guy who issued a ban or locked a thread isn't online.

Besides, how do you even know a PM was forwarded?

The intro for this thread is about prescription refills and general medical practices, not hospital stays—which is what I already covered. Comparing your point to the intro is an apples-to-oranges comparison.

Looking back at my own time stuck in a hospital bed, the staff was the only thing worth mentioning; everything else was honestly nauseating. Just because there’s some dead weight in a profession—and let's face it, there's bad actors in every field—doesn't mean you should trash the entire industry. That's exactly what you're doing. Like I said before, you find all kinds of people among patients, too.

And if this thread turns into nothing more than a punching bag for venting, I doubt it’ll stay active for very long.

Justin Ortiz said:Oh, really? So nobody's at fault? Why the hell don't they pick up the phone? People are actually sick and have to make a pilgrimage to the hospital just because of some damn order. Their greed is unreal. They’re probably sipping their morning coffee and can't be bothered to answer poor people. What's the point of even having phones then?

First off, calm down. We're all in the same boat here, but that's no reason to start throwing dirt at each other.

Second, please explain this "pilgrimage" and ordering thing to me. I've been trying to book a check-up for three months now and still can't get through. I'm furious, sure, but I'm not mad at the staff who answer the phones—they're the least responsible. I'm mad at whoever organized this entire mess.
By the way, it's administrators answering the phones at the hospital, not nurses. Those people have enough actual work to do without playing secretary.

You claim the nurses are out drinking morning coffee? Have you actually been hospitalized lately to know that firsthand, or what...? It hasn't been that long since I was admitted, and even back then, the system was a total collapse. You have to see it with your own eyes to understand how many patients are dealing with the same number of doctors and nurses. Honestly, if someone manages to sit around jerking off and drinking coffee under those conditions, more power to them. Since then, so many doctors and nurses have left the US. I just hope I don't end up back in the hospital, because I don't want to be treated by doctors who are pulling endless shifts or nurses working double turns or coming in for an afternoon shift right after a night shift (that happened while I was there; it's not legal, but when you're short-staffed, anything goes). So much for the coffee story.

I just got back from my primary care doctor. Not once did the nurse pick up the phone when it rang. You know why? Because some woman felt ill and they were running around taking care of her. Maybe if you called to order pills you should have ordered a week ago instead of waiting until the last two minutes and deciding it's suddenly an emergency, maybe those "coffee drinkers" would actually be busy saving a life.

I'm angry and frustrated too, looking at how this whole system works and how much I have to deal with it. And yeah, I agree there are all kinds of doctors and nurses out there, but for God's sake, there are all kinds of patients, too.

It’s not about the doctor here; it’s about the nurse. You can clearly see the doctor is doing an amazing job, while the nurse should probably just look into retraining for a forklift operator instead. 😬 To me, this is right up there with people screaming at a pharmacist because they won't hand over a specific med when the doctor actually wrote the script for something else entirely.

Look, let's be real—I’ve been there too. I’ve forgotten to refill my meds and ended up cutting it dangerously close with my pills, unable to reach anyone by phone. In those moments, I don't blame the nurse or the doctor; I blame myself. Last time that happened to me, I went down to the clinic in person to grab my tablets. While I was sitting in the doctor's office, the nurse walks in complaining to the physician that she hasn't been able to find the telephone handset for two days. She's claiming someone practically stole it or that the battery died and she can't even get a call through. Then you have some random person coming in and nitpicking the nurse, even though she didn't do anything wrong.

On top of being stuck doing administrative grunt work—because printing out prescriptions and instructions definitely isn't her job, but hey, here we are—she’s hardly to blame when patients suddenly remember they’re running low on meds about two days before they're completely out of pills.

Btw. from what I understand, a nurse can't just authorize a prescription on their own; a doctor has to sign off on it first. I haven't once stood there next to a nurse waiting for a script only to watch her having to pester the doctor to approve it so she could finally hit print.

I was already wondering what I’d done wrong over on the Health board, but then this happens... 🤣

"Ass" isn't a swear word. Let's not sanitize this forum by nitpicking every single syllable people use. If it makes you feel better, just pretend I wrote "buttocks" instead. 😁

And honestly, what does my moderation on the Health board have to do with how I post on Politics? (Assuming that's why you're so desperate to see me kicked off the PDF project I moderate). On the Politics board, I'm just another user like everyone else, and I'm pretty sure I haven't broken a single rule that would warrant a strike. Just because some of you don't like my tone or what I have to say is your problem. I don't like everything other people write either, but I don't go running to the mods to get people permabanned just because they annoy me. 😁
👍

I don't get why most people find it so awkward to just see a doctor. I guess they're terrified they'll get referred to a urologist or something. I know girls who actually begged their OB-GYNs for therapy meds for their boyfriends—like, if someone actually shows some mercy and writes the prescription, fine, but normally you're supposed to go to a primary care physician for stuff like that.

Honestly, people will run out for antibiotics for a sore throat without blinking, but the second it involves their junk, suddenly it's a whole dramatic ordeal. 🤣

(Not saying your man is like this, obviously; I'm just noticing this pattern with the guys in my circle. Most of them are exactly like this.)
Why doesn't he just go see his own primary care doctor? Explain what the deal is—what did you get prescribed so he can actually write him a proper script for the pills? First off, I wouldn't be touching anything that's been sitting open for three years. Second, I certainly wouldn't be popping random stuff on my own initiative. 🤷
I don't get why everyone is so terrified of doctors, yet they have no problem shoving whatever random junk into themselves without any supervision. 🤷Is it out of embarrassment? Because there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Doctors have seen and heard everything under the sun.

Frank Booth9 said:I think it was more about the pharmacist being able to move some Betadine without any hassle. They could have just asked for the customer's full name and the info for their local doctor, and that would’ve been that. Usually, if you walk into most pharmacies with a private prescription for something like Betadine, they'll just hand it right back to you anyway.
My advice? Just head to a different CVS Pharmacy. 😁

Actually, lately they haven't really been handing prescriptions back. Some guy at my local pharmacy was lecturing me about how they need paperwork for every single medication dispensed to cover their tracks (yeah, sure, I just order my meds from overseas and deal with whatever headache the FDA or whatever that agency is called throws my way).

At this point, you can't even tell who's actually taking the pills and who's footing the bill. 🙄

Your hormones are probably just out of whack. Honestly, you might want to get them checked out.
Great, at least you know there isn't an issue on your end. Now, get a proper Pap smear done so we can actually see what's going on. Take this report to your gynecologist.
Call about the results; they should be ready the same day (at least in my experience if you go pick them up yourself—if you wait for them to arrive via mail, you’re looking at the next day)
Bris is a must-do, regardless of what your search results or urine tests show. If they find anything in your urine, they’ll send you for an analysis and an antibiogram just to figure out exactly which bacteria is causing trouble and what it responds to.
