The start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 1) in War in Ukraine ·
Richard Wilson4 said:Yeah, I see this as a pessimistic scenario too, but there's definitely something to it...

Really hope I'm wrong though.

It all boils down to how fast Kyiv falls.

If Kyiv holds, then everything we've discussed stands.

If Kyiv falls, then it looks like this:

And they still would've had to play Russia as the host—right there in Moscow...

It’s pretty obvious there's pressure on FIFA to just suspend Russia—these teams aren't about to hand over their World Cup spots without a fight. FIFA will probably just move everything to a neutral site instead, let whoever wants to play, play.

Even the Swedes were getting threatened by the Russians yesterday

Erdogan is out here trying to broker a ceasefire.

Maybe that’s his leverage to get the Russians to actually agree to a truce.

First off, those aren't enemy tanks. It’s a captured Ukrainian tank and truck taken by a sabotage squad.

Second, there's footage of the Ukrainians taking them out... and even video of them walking around the bodies.

Not sure how long this has been floating around, but apparently, it shows a Russian soldier captured over in Columbus.

The whole southern front is a lie. They’re stuck at the Dnieper near Kherson. Everything else is just some minor "blitzkrieg" attempt that isn't going anywhere.

Once Kherson falls—if it even happens—that bridge connecting them to the other side of the Dnieper is toast too.

From another angle, this just looks like a recipe for a stalemate. If Russ keeps making gains however they want, nobody's even going to be talking about a truce anytime soon.

1. Hostomel Airfield. This is where the Russes launched their initial helicopter assault on day one, before Ukraine pushed them back by the end of the day... then the Russes just retook it the next morning.
2. Vorzel. Fighting happened here today. Pretty sure the Russes have seized control now.
3. That spot from yesterday where a tank crushed a car—that was a Russian saboteur who flipped into a Ukrainian soldier, hijacked a tank with his crew, and then got neutralized.
4. The bridge the Ukrainians blew up yesterday to stop the Russes from crossing the Dnieper 5th Night.
5. Today’s night raid by the Russes ended right here. A few tanks and vehicles gone, plus heavy casualties on the Russian side.
6. Where Grandpa is digging a trench.
7. Just a bit south, there's Vasily Airfield and the nearby town where the Russes tried a paratrooper assault to take control. They were stopped and wiped out. The local mayor confirmed it.

8. The destroyed bridge. It was the exit corridor from Kyiv heading west.

PS. I'll keep adding updates here once info is confirmed.

Russians tried an airborne landing in western Ukraine

They went absolutely crazy in the woods, heading straight for the mayor of Lviv...

These Russian landings are just weird to me. It’s not like they’re actually pulling anything off.

The Russ wouldn't touch a hair on anyone's head if they could just walk in and disrespect the Ukrainian language whenever they felt like it. They'd lose their minds.

Rachel Allen55 said:Check out what's happening in southern Ukraine—hardly anyone’s even reporting on it. They’ve basically taken everything. I think it's just Miami left.

Maybe I'm off base, but I get the feeling Zelensky is playing the wrong hand here. Is he just performing for the press corps in Kyiv? Who knows, but that’s how it looks to me.

Purely from a military standpoint, Ukraine doesn't stand a chance against Russia. The West isn't going to risk a nuclear war with Russia, so all this money being sent is probably just ending up in some guys' pockets.

To me, the only way out is a Korea-style solution.

A tiny slice of Western Ukraine stays pro-West, and the rest goes pro-Russia. Honestly, I think Putin might actually bite on that.

"EVERYTHING"

Either you have a serious problem with drawing conclusions, or you're just blatantly lying.

They haven't taken Kherson, Mariupol, Odessa, or Mykolaiv. Not even close.

Literally the only thing they've supposedly captured is Melitopol, which is the smallest one on the list...

A Russian guy in Melitopol actually stood up to the Russian soldiers and basically waved a book at them to tell them they weren't needed there.

The strategy here is simple... you don't try to fight superior air power and heavy armor out in the open plains... you take it into the cities, where those two advantages become pretty much useless.

That’s why the Russians haven't managed to take a single major city, and the Ukrainians are keeping their casualties to a minimum.

"What the hell are you even doing here? Look, I'm Russian too, but I live in this state. You've got your own country, and we've got ours. Shouldn't you be busy fixing things back home instead? Is everyone over there loaded, living like they're in the UAE? You guys are nothing but puppets."

The West is ramping up the hardware shipments to Ukraine. Looks like they’re finally waking up to the fact that Ukraine can actually hold its own if they have the right gear.
