Maybe try using SubRip—if you're playing the movie in Gom and hit ALT+E on your keyboard, SubRip should pop right up. You can just click the folder icon to see all the subtitles sitting in the same folder as your movie, then just select the one you want and it should play along with the film. 🙂

Yeah, the titles are identical, but I tried that trick you mentioned and it actually worked! The subtitles are showing up now. Thanks so much. 🙂
But here's the thing—as soon as I close the video and try to restart it, the subtitles disappear again. Does this mean I'm going to have to use that SubRip workaround every single time? 😁

Hey, I figured I’d just post this here instead of starting a whole new thread.
So, I'm having this weird issue where Gom isn't showing any subtitles. Everything was working perfectly fine while I was watching my series—subtitles were popping up without a hitch—but then, as soon as I tried to switch over to the next episode, they just vanished.
I've already double-checked everything, and I made sure the video file name and the subtitle file name match up exactly.



The funny thing is, Gom actually says the subtitles are there, but for some reason, they just aren't appearing on the screen. It's so frustrating!
If anyone knows what might be going on, I'd really appreciate the help. 🙂

In Word 2003, you just head over to Autocorrect Options -> Tools -> Autocorrect Options and check the box for "Capitalize first letter of sentences."

Setting my biases aside, I liked it. The acting was solid, especially Gordon-Levitt. The script is sharp and funny, offering a twist that most romantic dramedies shy away from, all wrapped up in very competent direction.

It touches on certain pockets of alternative culture—specifically indie music, like The Smiths or Pixies—and you can't shake the feeling that both leads are total hipsters, which is easily one of the most annoying subcultures out there today.

You could argue the film tries a little too hard to be cool, but it works. It’s good. Actually, it’s great. Honestly, I’m glad it didn't sweep the major awards; that whole season was a complete mess anyway.

Can someone—for the love of God—give me a rough definition of what a hipster actually is? I mean, come on, please. 😁
Are hipsters only into The Smiths because they love them? Or maybe it’s just because Summer doesn't look like some overdone, sun-baked mess straight out of a tanning salon—you know what I mean?

I think that’s exactly why the movie hits so hard—it’s just so realistic. It captures how we all tend to make these huge mistakes when we convince ourselves someone is "the one," only to have everything flip 180 degrees in the end anyway. It's kind of a gut punch, honestly.
If you head over to the Lonely Hearts subforum, you'll see plenty of threads where people are venting about how they tried to "fix" their partners—or, you know, how their partners were trying to do the exact same thing to them.
This kind of stuff happens every single day—which, I guess, is exactly why I ended up loving the movie even more.
He managed to lay out some pretty real-life situations—and he did it in such a charming way, too. 🙂

So, I recently picked up some jeans at Target (over at the Import Mall) for $73.
They’re just your standard boot cut style—blue, with those slightly lighter faded spots here and there—and they actually have decent pockets and a fit that stays put (meaning, you know, they don't make your backside look totally ridiculous the second you pull them on 😁).

Anyway, if anyone happens to be hunting for a cheap pair of denim, you might want to check them out. They had sizes ranging from about an 8 to a 16.

I’ve got a quick question—it might be a total newbie mistake, but I figured I'd ask 😁—how do I actually get those little accent marks (like ~ ˇ ^ ˘ ˛ ` ˙ ´ ¸) to sit right above or below a letter?
In Microsoft Office Word, I’m trying to type something like an (ã), but instead of it working, it just keeps typing it as two separate things, like ~ a.

Does anyone know the trick to putting those accents directly onto the letters?

Sometimes a "damn it" or a "hell" just slips out—I'll be honest—but I really try my best to keep those kinds of expressions to a minimum. Swearing is definitely something you can get under control if you actually make the effort, of course.
I don't go around swearing at the saints or God or anything like that, mostly because I’ve just never felt the need, and honestly, it feels pretty disrespectful to me.

But looking at the bigger picture, I truly feel like constant swearing is usually just a sign of poor upbringing or a lack of manners. It’s honestly kind of cringey for me to see someone who drops a curse word every other sentence—though maybe that's just my own quirkiness.
I know some people don't care, though. 🤷

I just finished devouring the first book in the Millennium Trilogy, so I decided to check out the movie today.
Of course, it doesn't quite hit the same way the book does—it rarely does—but if you aren't comparing it to the novel, it’s actually a pretty solid watch. Noomi is just incredible 🙏; she fits the role of Lisbeth so perfectly, and I thought they did a great job with Blomkvist, too.
I was kind of hoping they’d spend a little more time exploring the connection between Erika and Michael, but... nothing. 🤷That was a bit of a letdown for me, and honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of how it ended.
In the book, there's this one scene that really stuck with me where Lisbeth wants to get Michael an Elvis record for Christmas, but then she sees him at a cafe with Erika and just tosses the record straight into the trash.

All in all, the movie is decent—maybe a 7/10? I guess my rule of thumb is that I'll watch the movies as I work my way through the books. I'm actually pretty curious to see what happens in the second part of the trilogy and how they handle the adaptation. 🙂

Caught a movie the other day and actually enjoyed it, even though—if I'm being honest—it definitely could have been much better.
The plot felt a little thin in places, but I still liked it as it was. I guess I'll have to agree with one of the posts above and admit that I just have a massive soft spot for these kinds of movies—you know, those heavy dramas. 🙂
The lead actress was absolutely fantastic, and I found the character of Jennyin totally charming (her accent was just perfect 🙂). 😍
