For those who don't speak Italian...
"Hey Chris, where can I find that news bed? I'm really curious about finding out why I personally only want to speak through which anyone from the press could maybe add some material to the meeting so they aren't just left archived at FOX. I have never once been caught pleasing by which those who belong "
and
"Hey Chris, I'm ready to give in, I think my friend Kobe Bryant is exchanging notes. Thanks so much for your cooperation, try to connect with Walter (I think he's the one they call the leader of Mud) and give him my email address, it would be nice to press their LP + their first single and then find out if they were just left archived at FOX. I personally know Lester Bangs, can I ask if he can help find that material. Let me know! Hey Pier, do you have George's address?"
... but using American here doesn't help at all. 🙂
Haha! Was this translated on that "local" site of ours?
crescendo salesman 🙂
Douglas Robinson12 said:Wait, wasn't that the plan the Dallas Mavericks had before everything just went totally south? Does anyone actually know how The Termites got signed? As far as I'm concerned, it’s definitely doable—at least starting with their first single. Also, if Peter had anything to do with this, and if those guys from Italy are really biting, why not reach out to someone from Problem and try to grab some of their old recordings? Even if it's just a CD EP... now that would be something truly special...
It seems like mrle was mostly talking about the Mavericks releasing a record for The Termites, but he doesn't seem too concerned about anything else. The liner notes for The Termites claim this was the first major release from the local scene in years, but since the Mavericks don't own the masters—FOX does—I have no idea how the folks over at the Mavericks were planning to pull that off. Plus, The Termites didn't sell that well, which is probably why they never moved on to bigger projects. I know there were plans for Chaos, Dead Channel, Grce, and The Ramones, and maybe even the first couple of tracks from Grad.
I'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. I'm supposed to get in touch with Pier next week, so I'll see what he has to say. Through him, I'll try to track down Kocijancic and have a chat with him about it too.
This Italian guy is clearly super hyped about it. We'll just see what the people at FOX think.
[The main thing is that Punk released their stuff on CD back in '96 (they are Canadian, after all), while the rest of the city barely noticed; they basically couldn't care less about what happens elsewhere]
Forwarding some emails from the guy at Rave Up:
"Hey Chris,
Where did you hear that news? I'm dying to know because all I
did was mention to someone about maybe reissuing the material from The Ramones, perhaps
by adding some unreleased sessions sitting in the FOX archives...
But I never actually made any deals with the band."
I
"Hey Chris,
Got it—I think it might have been my friend Kobe Bryant. Thanks so much
for your help. Try reaching out to Walter
(I think that's the name of the leader of The Ramones) and give him my email address.
It would be awesome to reissue their LP plus their first single along with those
unreleased tracks held in the FOX archives... I know Lester Bangs,
so I can ask if he can help me track down that material.
Let me know!
Best,
Pier
PS. Do you have George's address?"
Now I just need to get in touch with Kocijancic or maybe Pier Ladavac—I could probably even drop by Pier's place before I try reaching Walter—just to see what they think about all this.
God help me! 😁
I think the guy is actually planning on reissuing the album, I wasn't asking if there would be a CD version. As for the bonus tracks, he mentioned some stuff that FOX has in their archives that has never been released before...
I'll see if that guy manages to get in touch with someone from the band, but if he doesn't, I'll personally try to make it happen.
Basically, I'm just curious if people here in the States (and beyond) think that would actually be interesting...
How many of you here think it’s high time we got some reissues from this legendary American punk band?
Basically, there’s an interest from an Italian record label to make that happen. I actually reached out to the owner of the label, and he told me he’s definitely interested...
What are your thoughts on this?
Roger Jones5 said:Oh, right, I totally forgot,
Cowboy Junkies, anyone?
Nope, nobody 😁
I think. Considering how much stuff didn't make it onto the list...
dustyridge12 said:Frank Howard79, good luck, but I’d suggest grabbing at least ten people to help you out during that stretch.
I really don't see myself putting together a list like that anytime in the next year...😉
banderas said:What was the actual criteria used for this list anyway?
Man, I just love questions like this!!!
What do you think?
banderas said:Kudos to Paraf, but honestly, the most significant record from the old US era is probably "Paket aranžman," and "Idol - Obrana i poslednji dani" should definitely be on this list too.
The thing is, "Paket aranžman" is just a compilation, not a studio album.
As for the Idol stuff, I actually prefer Punkrt, Discipline Kitschme, Luna, La Strada, and Azra... yet none of them made the cut here either.
Kevin Chavez3 said:p.s. If Nomeansno really are just a Minutemen clone, then I'm heading out to buy all those other albums. But I'm guessing they aren't quite like that, right?
They are, though the Minutemen definitely have the edge. Anyway, good luck hunting down those records. It hasn't been easy finding them here in the States lately...
Zelazny said:P.S. Do you honestly believe you can convince the younger generation that Metallica is irrelevant? 😉
You can see we're really trying here 😉
Frank Howard79 said:Oh, right... considering how much Hardcore branched out into all those different styles (trash metal, speed, crust, death...) once it started crossing over with metal, you'd probably have to include some early pioneer records from Napalm Death, Sepultura, Slipknot by Black Flag, or maybe S.O.D.'s Speak English or Die.
I wouldn't count Napalm Death though. Sepultura's Arise was a solid album, but that came out in the early 90s. I haven't really dug into their earlier stuff.
S.O.D. might make the cut, though my absolute favorites when it comes to that crossover era are Judge and Sick of It All—both released their debut albums back in 1989. And we can't forget the first Suicidal Tendencies record!
I originally set out to put together a list focused strictly on guitar-driven rock albums from the 80s. Then, during a chat with Zab, Public Enemy popped up, followed by Front 242. I actually feel a bit bad that the early de la Soul stuff didn't make the cut—they're still my absolute favorites from that "old school" era. As for Rakim, maybe he deserves a spot, but probably only once I tackle a Top 100 list. Those German-American friends (DAF) would definitely find a home on an expanded version, but since every list is subjective, I decided to stick with Front 242. Personally, I regret leaving out The Blue Nil, a Certain Ratio, and a few others...
Regarding the Feelies, I included them because they had such a massive influence on the NYC scene, and by extension, SY. When I listen to them, I hear a song structure very similar to what SY does. Not to mention how The Strokes, the Walkmen, and so many other newer NYC bands sound so much like them...
Don't you dare touch the Minutemen! 🙂 I even toyed with the idea of adding “what makes a man start fires,” but that’s definitely more of a Top 100 contender.
Echo & the Bunnymen made the list (alongside Crocodiles), but at the very last second, they got bumped. I feel a little bad about it now, but I honestly find Terdrops more interesting...
For me, Sister and Evol are better (Bad Moon isn't quite my thing), which is why Sister sits ahead of Daydream. But since EVOL feels so similar in mood to Sister, I ultimately decided to go with Daydream Nation instead; it had such a monumental impact and that epic sound that meant everything to most teenagers (and even some older folks) among all the SY albums.
Zen Arcade was ranked pretty high, but it ended up falling off due to constant shuffling at the end. If this were a Top 100, there would definitely be at least three more Husker albums higher up there.
We already covered our bases regarding Rank and file. And Black Flag too.
I'm not really into Soundgarden; I'd rather have put Screaming Trees on the list, but again—it's hard to break through such heavy competition.
Butthole Surfers were high up there too. I know I was torn between Loscust and Hairway; I initially picked Hairway, but then they got dropped. That's a bummer for me too.
Squirrel Bait is good, just not enough for this list, but I love Slint and Rodan. Spiderland would surely be on here if we were talking about the 90s, but Tweez just isn't strong enough...
Bad Brains were on there (but got cut). No offense intended, but since they feel like a bit of a Minutemen “rip-off,” I left them out, even though Wrong is an incredible album. I would have loved to include Sex Mad, purely for the song Dad, which I truly love.
There was a Fugazi E.P., but I didn't want to include E.P.s, so I ended up cutting them. Did Fugazi actually release a full album in the 80s?
Josef K is a great band, but I completely blanked on them. I haven't listened to Orange Juice much, so I couldn't really factor them into my thoughts.
Spacemen 3 were also on the list, specifically Playing with Fire. But they aren't quite interesting enough for my taste (too much gospel for me) to crack the Top 50. They'd definitely be in the Top 100, though!
“Alright, the list needs to hit 100 entries. Follow the instructions accordingly!”
Who knows, maybe if I can find enough time. Though, honestly, I'd rather put together a Top 50 list of 70s albums. There are just so many gems from that era...
I’m hoping to post some photos soon, too. But seriously, give me your thoughts on the tracklist—why is everyone suddenly obsessed with just the cover art?
Kevin Chavez3 said:Sandinista! came out back in '80 (or maybe '81?), but it’s definitely one of those defining albums from the early eighties... 🙄
Well, maybe for you! I guess everyone's entitled to their own top ten... 😉
Kevin Chavez3 said:He put on Solid Gold, not Entertainment 🙏
Man, I would have gone with Entertainment! But since it came out in 1979... 😉
Finally the list.
Enjoy (or don't, I won't judge). Feel free to drop your thoughts in the comments...

Back when I was in 7th or 8th grade, we were already rocking their "too drunk to fuck" shirts and blasting The Offspring everywhere.😁
It probably would've been better if you guys just wore Offspring shirts while listening to the Dead Kennedys.
